Dan was such an important part of my families life. He was present at the birth of both children and in fact was the one to see them first before me. We went through many good and bad times in our lives that we shared. I will surely miss him. Kathryn Kildoo

Wimpy, your admirable qualities are legion and none more characteristic than your light-hearted humor and contrasting somber rigorous approach to medicine. Your example made the grind of medical school more tolerable.
I treasure the thoughts and events that we shared, and now I share your loss with Marnie, Brian, Dana and extended family.
My wife never met you, but she enjoyed tales of our escapades, and upon learning of your passing she exclaimed, "Oh !!, I wanted to meet Wimpy and Marnie."
And she will someday at that greatest of all class reunions.

PAX VOBISCUM

I am a nurse who worked with Dr. Christman in the O.R. then SICU at St.John in Tulsa. He was the best, and also gave me my spinal anesthesia when I delivered a son in 1974. I have not seen him in years but always remember him and feel priviledged to have known him. My best to your family. Sandy Hill

MARNIE AND FAMILY--DAN AND I HAD A LOT IN COMMON. HE LOVED TO COOK AND TRY NEW RECIPES AND I LOVED TO EAT THEM. WILL MISS ALL THOSE RECIPES VIA EMAIL. ALSO WE BOTH SURE DID LOVE SEEING AND HEARING THE PURPLE MARTINS EACH YEAR. HE DEFINITELY NEW WHAT THE BEST MARTIN BOX WAS AND GLADLY SHARED A COUPLE WITH ME. THE BOYS TREASURE THAT OLD SHOTGUN IMMENSELY. THEY HAD THE BARREL RE BLUED, NEW FINISH ON THE STOCK AND THE WORDS 'dixie pride" ENGRAVED WITH GOLD ON THE BASE. DAN WAS SO PROUD OF HOW THEY FIXED IT UP AND THEN SHOWED HIM WHAT THEY HAD DONE. THOSE NEW YEAR DAY DROP INS WERE ALWAYS ENJOYED BECAUSE WE KNEW YOU ALL WOULD SHOW UP FOR THE BLACKEYED PEAS, CORNBREAD, AND SMOKED RIBS. I ALSO WANT YOU TO KNOW HOW PROUD I WAS TO BE INCLUDED AS ONE OF DAN'S "SELECT FEW" TO RECEIVE HIS VERY SPECIAL EMAILS THAT OFTEN MADE MY DAY, WEEK, AND SOMETIMES MY YEAR!!!!!RHONDA AND I WILL MISS HIM MUCH.......JIM WOODRUFF

Our loss is Heaven's gain. Let us be comforted by the fact that we will, someday, be together again with our brother-in-Christ.

Wimpy was my best friend from elementary school through high school in Dermott, College in Monticello and Medical School in Little Rock, AR. He was one year older and was always one year ahead of me in school.

During our early childhood we played together with our many friends in the neighborhoods of Dermott, AR. He was always a leader. We were in the Boy Scouts together. He taught me many things about Scouting as he was my senior and taught me what he had learned. We went on many Scouting and camping trips together. We caught and killed a lot of snakes together. That was one of his specialties. When we arrived at a Scout Camp, he was always the first one to jump out of the truck and run into the woods and come back with a live snake. It was a contest that we had and he usually won it.

After his graduation from Medical School in 1957 and my graduation from Medical School in 1958 we went our separate ways. He served his country for several years as an Air Force Medical Officer before entering the private practice of medicine in Tulsa, OK. I did the same as a Medical Officer in the Navy before entering private practice in North Little Rock, AR.

We only saw each other one time after his graduation from medical school and that was in the early 60's, which was about fifty years ago. He invited my wife and I to dinner in Tulsa and we drove to Tulsa for the weekend and had dinner with Wimpy and his wife. Another doctor and his wife from Tulsa, that I had known while in the Navy, were also with us.

There were many years that I had no contact with Wimpy. He was busy in his practice as I was in mine. He raised a fine family while I did the same. If it had not been for the Personal Computer, I guess that we would have never heard from each other again.

One day about ten years ago I saw his name on an e-mail. Since that day we have had a wonderful time, sharing messages, pictures and rare telephone calls. My only regret is that I never did take time off to go see him again this past year. Time ran out. I am very sad and am grieving the loss of my best friend. Although time and distance has kept us apart, Wimpy will always be my best friend in my heart.

My prayers are with his family and other friends that are grieving his loss. I know that he is now with his Lord and one day I hope to see him again in Boy Scout Heaven.

Thank you Dan for being one of the best anesthesiologists that I ever worked with during my 30 years of practice. Your professionalism was greatly appreciated and admired by everyone, doctors, nurses, administrators and patients.
