David was my best friend in 3rd grade when I first went to Barnett Shoals Elementary. That was my first year there and we became friends on the first day. Ill always remember David as one of the kindest persons I've ever known. My condolences to the family. The world has lost a light.
Dear Bowden Family,
I have such fond memories of David. We went to Cedar together, and I also got to know him further through youth group at Covenant. He was a very special person whose light shined bright. His smile and laugh were infectious. Your family and all who knew and loved David are in my thoughts and prayers.
Dear Bowden Family,
I was shocked and saddened to learn that David is no longer with us. As boys, David and I spent many years enjoying youth group together at Covenant. I remember going to our youth retreats at Hard Labor Creek and worshipping around the camp fire, singing hymns. Leadership and organization were natural gifts David possessed, even when he was young. It is clear he used those talents the rest of his life. He was always smiling, always happy, and a pleasure to be around. He united those around him. We are heartbroken that he has left this world too early, but rest assured he will never be forgotten. Wishing you peace that passes understanding at this difficult time.
I met Dave in 1987 at Montreat....he introduced himself as "MadDog". He made Montreat even better than it already was. I've thought of him through the years even though we never spoke after that week...I was really surprised to open the paper here in Little Rock and see his picture. Such a small world, who now is less one bright soul. RIP MadDog.
Please accept my most heartfelt sympathies. David was a good friend, and a kind, considerate person. I continue to carry fond memories of him from our MBA days together.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
With deepest sympathy,
Lindsey and Bowden family, my condolences to you. Dave was a great guy and friend and will be missed by everyone he has met and touched. One of the many fond memories I have of Dave was running the Peachtree Road Race with him. He ran and pushed me the entire run and went at my pace (slow). And many more memories will at WCW.
David's presence will be missed by us all but his spirit lives on through Lindsay, their kids and the remarkable Bowden family. We have been blessed to know all of the Bowdens for over 40 years and fortunate to call you our friends. Please know that you are constantly in our thoughts and we pray that your strong faith and the love of all the people you have touched will come back to you to provide comfort and peace.
Since the Fall of 1961 the Bowdens have been an integral part of our lives. E were together as classmates at Columbia Seminary, then lived near each other in north Alabama, then for years in Athens, and then everywhere we moved while they stayed put in Athens. They have been family to all of us, and we grieve with them. We've known David since he was born, so we feel his loss deeply. Words are inadequate at such a time, so we commend you all into God's loving care as we do David. "The peace of Christ be with you all.". Peggy and John Roark (for all the Roarks)
Dear Bowden Family,
We are deeply sorry to hear of David's passing. We remember him as a great friend to our daughter Nikki during their school years. May you find comfort in knowing we care about your loss. He was a wonderful young man.
Ivery and Pat Clifton, Winterville, GA
Dear Bowden Family,
Dave and I worked together on the HomeRun 5k fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity in Desoto County, MS. His quiet, confident, optimism was contagious. His commitment to the community and to his employees was exceeded only by his commitment to his family. We ran side by side together in last year's race in October, talking about business and family and ideas for personal growth. He was an inspiration. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Dear Bowden Family,
Please accept my deepest heartfelt condolences. Dave was a classmate of mine at Terry. I have nothing but fond memories of him and it saddens me to hear of his passing because Dave's spirit is one full of love for his fellow man. His spirit is one of strength and kindness.
His spirit is now eternal and we are all better for having known him.
We are holding all of you up in prayer.
What a shock to return to the US to this news today. A deep sadness is felt and my heart sighs many sighs for all the Bowden family as I pray for your peace. Much comfort comes from our memories, tears do help cleanse, our faith soothes and our hope survives. Good thoughts will reassure, love will pull us through and the belief in a better place calms our hearts. Thinking of all of you with the deepest sympathy.

Lindsey, I'm just in shock hearing this news. We're so far away from you that I feel like there is nothing I can do for you. If you ever need to talk, just call. Sometimes it helps to just get it all out. I am so very sorry for your loss.
Dear, sweet Lindsey. Wendell and I are overwhelmed with sadness upon hearing of Dave's death. He made such an impression - he was a dynamic, robust, wonderful man who obviously loved life, most especially you, Thomas, and Natalie. We will keep you all in our hearts and thoughts and will never forget the time you spent on Lawrence Avenue with us. Love to you, the children, and Dave's parents.
Jackie & Wendell.
I don't even know where to start. For the 5 years I have been at Zaxby's, you have always been a great person to me. You are someone that I looked up too. Whenever I might had something going on, I know for sure I could come to you for answers. I have to say you are someone I will never forget. Your legacy at Zaxby's will continue to go on. I remember when I first became an assistant manager and I told you; I want to make you proud and you looked at me and said, Make yourself proud first. You have made a great impact on so many of us at Zaxby's. It will not be the same without you, DB. I know you want one thing for us is to continue to work hard. Dave, you will be truly missed.
As I have gotten to know Lindsey and her wonderful children, it saddens me that I did not get the chance to know David more. He sounds like an amazing man that cared deeply for his family. May you be blessed in the comfort of his loving arms from up above.
I'm bummed out: No 'mo Dave. What a tremendous loss. A great smile, a great heart, a soft spoken manner, top flight guy and a wonderful person. Husband, father, businessman, Christian guy, adjunct commedian, and great hairdo. Arghhhh!!!!
This is so hard to believe. I remember when he was born and that Earl was born just a few days later. Jim and Jere, I hold you and your family in my heart and feel with you the pain of this tragedy. I know you will be surrounded with loving friends and wish I could be among them. Know I am there in spirit.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I will be praying for the Bowden family. He will always be remembered.
Lindsey your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart goes out to him wife, children, parents, and the entire family. For those of us who were his team mates back in the late 80s, there will forever be fond memories of a genuine, funny, caring, and charismatic individual.
