There are no words to express our sorrow of our loss. Ross was a wonderful friend that loved to hike with us and the Moreno Valley Trekker in NM, CO, and WY. He loved his family and wife, Pat. They and his friends were very important to him. We shall miss this great man very much. Kathy & Herb Kalen Angel Fire, NM

To ALL the family-- praying for arms of comfort from the Holy Spirit during your grief. I loved his laugh. I know he loved each of you. His earthly chrysalis is now shed and he is enjoying all God's beauty flying free. I was amazed that my son Grady saw him on the trail and they waved to each other in his last moments. May this poem bring you comfort . A symbol of hope that life will change when It's hard to cope and life seems strange. Like the caterpillar slow bound by gravity; we all yearn to freedom know from man's depravity. Christmas says that Jesus came to free us from our pain. Now all who call upon His name eternal life will gain. With Him we shed our chrysalis of failures here on earth . With Him we fly in joyful bliss and cherish our new birth.

Dale, David, Carey and family -
I have so many great memories with your family! Especially, Dale, all those little league games (especially when I was pitching and you hit that line drive off my ankle that ricocheted into left field!), summer baseball, getting some practice swings in the batting cage, football, going to movies, weddings, parties, and events with the Baptist Church.
My parents, Kathy, Sherry and I think so much of you all and appreciate your friendship! Your parents' decency and uncommon kindness is evident in you guys - they raised an amazing family! We're thinking of you.

As many have already mentioned, Dr. Campbell's books were a tremendous resource to me personally and to those I helped through La Leche League. His work and words helped so many. Thank you to the family for sharing him with the larger community. I know he will be missed.

We were shocked to hear about our dear friend Ross's death. We talked to him just the other day and he sounded so good. We will miss him very much but have such good memories of him - hiking, traveling, and just visiting with him. He was a very special friend. Our deepest sympathy to all the family. They say that the friends you make at the Naval Academy are your friends for life. That's the way it was for Joyce and me with Ross and Pat. Though we seldom met after graduation our friendship lasted until he was called home. Ross served the Lord from the time he led impromptu Bible studies for fellow midshipmen until God called him homne

Dr Ross and his books meant so much to me, both as a mother and as a La Leche League Leader. I am saddened to hear this on the news. He was an important contributor to American families and will really be missed.

Dear Campbell Family,

On behalf of so many La Leche League Leaders in Tennessee (and Internationally!), I want say how much your father's work touched our lives, our families and the parents we serve. So many of us treasure his books, but we particularly treasure the time he took from his busy practice and family life to speak at our conferences and share his wisdom. He was a 'voice crying in the wilderness' in the sense that he taught us how to discipline our children with love and respect, not fear and disconnection. I know that I'm a better parent for reading his books. I co-founded, with Lysa Parker, Attachment Parenting International, and we continue to recommend his books to a new generation of parents. His legacy will live on~
With Love, Gratitude, and Deepest Sympathy,

Dear Campbell Family,
The news of your father's death has saddened us greatly, and we want to send our deepest sympathy. We have been fans of Dr. Campbell's books almost since we started writing our own books. It was through La Leche League that we discovered his wonderful wisdom about loving our children, and we have used what he taught often in the parenting of our eight children, and now they their children. HOW TO REALLY LOVE YOUR CHILD/TEENAGER both have a special place on our book shelf for classics and favorites. We will keep them there, and remember Dr. Campbell fondly.

I heard Dr. Campbell speak at an La Leche League International Conference, and hearing him in person was as good as reading the books that forever changed my parenting style. As a clinical social worker and parent educator I continue to refer people to his books. The way he talked about his family, and the way his faith came through in words he spoke and words he wrote have had such great impact on many of us. Thank you for sharing him with us; his passing will leave a significant hole in this world.

I am saddened to hear of this tragic accident. I met Ross through MTM and my life was forever changed. His guidance and encouragement through the absolute worst time in my life was such a blessing. He was instrumental in our relocation to Tennessee and he remained a friend long after the storm had passed. He became a mentor and guide in my professional life and I am forever grateful for the blessing of knowing him. My deepest sympathies to his family.
