Paula, I only recently learned of Don's passing. I am truly sorry for your loss.
I am but a patron of the McDonald's Restaurant in Walpole, often stopping by on my way home to RI from Boston. In fact I am sitting here now and am still impressed by the appearance, cleanliness and attentiveness of the staff (not to mention the landscaping). It's a fitting tribute and legacy to your late owner. My sincere condolences to Mr. Wright's family and all who were touched by his many good deeds and business acumen which went hand in hand.
Paula, I am so sorry for your lost. I have had Don on my mind for many weeks and last night I started looking for him and found that he had passed. He was one of my best friends, and I will miss him so much.

I was hoping I might see Don this morning standing in the middle of the food court at his establishment on the Mass Pike. Instead I was stunned and saddened to read of his passing in a tribute posted on the wall. A man with such energy and so full of life; He was always ready with a smile and a story. Such a tremendous loss for his family and anyone that knew him. A great family man, a great business man, and just a very generous human being. My sympathy to his loved one.
Dear Paula and Donald Jr.
Belated condolences. Was out of down at time of Don's passing. Only now aware of sad happening. Hard to believe. Don was so full of life and vitality. His and your good works and sincere endeavor will be long remembered. May I recall one such gesture of personal and communal importance, of which even close friends and family might not be aware.
You may not be familiar with the scenario concerning the Menorah lit up each year concurrent with your Christmas display. Don sought permission from McDonalds' and MA highway authority to do so. His and my efforts were admistratively frustrated, but Don didn't accept no for an answer and decided to have it set-up anyway. It was delivered from NJ by four Orhtodox Jews who installed it. Don invited them in for food and drinks, which they graciously refused because of religious observance.
It may be considered insignificant, but many did notice it and were profoundly appreciative of Don's gesture. There is no other such Menorah along the Mass Pike.
Though Don and I had arranged to split the bill for the Menorah, Don refused to accept my check. He asked me to donate it in his name to a charity of my choice. When told of my donation to a fund supporting an Ethiopian family in Israel with seven young children, their father disabled and a son severely wounded while serving in an elite combat brigade, Don sent me another check to send the family.
Those and other memories of Don will be with me always. Please pass on my and my wife Ronnie's condolences to Donny and your family.
Not least to say about Don was the great respect he earned from his associates. Should there be a memorial occasion honoring Don, please invite us to attend.
Roy and Ronnie Pologe
We were so sorry to hear of Don's passing from Barry and Pam Lathan. Please accept our sincerest condolences. We'll continue to hold fast to our time together, several years ago, golfing in CA.

There are no words however heartfelt that can ease your sorrow, but may it strenthen you to realize that those who care are near in heart.
I will always cherish the memories of Don being my supervisor at ACTION, he was like a big brother I never had, oh how I looked up to him as being my mentor. He believed in me, giving me leadership assignments and promoted me many times for my hard work, what a "fantastic supervisor".
Don's absence will be felt by many for many years to come.
With deepest sympathy and love

To the Wright Family: Condolences to you on the loss of your husband and father. My husband and I are frequent customers at one of his McDonald's stores; although we never had the pleasure of meeting him, I can tell he was the wonderful man talked about elsewhere by the caliber of his employees at our store - they are as kind, caring, and cheerful as Mr. Wright has been described. I pray his legacy continues; it's the most valuable remembrance of him.

It is truly hard to believe that one of our gang: from retreats at his winter home in NH, to the Marching Chowder Society; to many golf outings; to poker nights; to his dog named Sid; to infinite meetings (co-op/pr/roab/etc/etc/etc); to dinner & drinks out; to real friendship and comraderie;
is not physically with us anymore.
To Lafayette Place...Causeway Street...Norwood 2 (with my sign..)...Mass. Pike and real success...
To chance meetings in Florida and various McDonald's...
I can only wish Paula & Donny our most profound and heartfelt and tearful best wishes and sympathy.

I grew up with your family as an extension of my own shortly after I began to remember things in kindergarten at Meadowbrook - that only continued through the years to adulthood. Big Don was always a beacon of warmth and welcoming every time we saw him - a truly great guy. I'm so glad my two young sons got a chance to spend time with him this past fall at dinner at Don Jr.'s house. We mourn your loss deeply and celebrate the time we spent together.
With respect and love, Matt and the Mittelstadt's

He will be greatly missed as a regular customer in the Barber Shop. Paula you will remain in our prayers and may the grace of God give you the strength and comfort that you need at this most difficult time Psalms 55:22 promises that he will sustain you.
With much love
Paula and Donnie:
I feel so blessed to have been a good friend of Don. He knew how to live life at it's fullest and his love, generosity, and caring was infectious. He was indiscriminate in his love for others, regardless of their "status" in life. I believe that his only goal was to share his love of life with everyone who touched his life. I have comfort in knowing that in these last few years, he had decided to start to enjoy some of the benefits of all of his years of hard work. What is truely magnificent about this wonderful man is that he knew how to live life to the fullest, but also, for everyone he was in contact with, he made sure that while they were with him, they also lived life to the fullest. I can't remember a time that I was with him where I was not laughing - and it was a true "belly laugh". His enjoyment of life was infectious and he went out of his way to make sure that everyone around him was enjoying "the moment"
Don was truly an example of how to live life to the fullest and because of his love, sincerity, caring, and benevolence, he made sure that anyone he was in contact with would feel the same....enjoying life to the fullest.
I am so happy knowing that he spent the last few months on his boat with Donny Jr. exploring the Southern Waters of the U.S. and really enjoying the "fruits of his labor!"
Don was a man who showed me "unconditional love" and he was always ready to do anything he could to help me and support me in any way that he could.
When I looked at him, I saw a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Few people are so lucky as to have a man like this as a father, grandfather, or just a good friend.
What a wonderful legacy he has left behind.
We should all be challenged to live our lives as Don did, with the unconditional love that he shared with many of us.
I cannot remember a time that I was with Don, where I was not laughing.
Don brought out the best in everyone that he touched and he will be deeply missed.....he was called away from us much too soon.
I now feel that it is an obligation to "carry on" the good work that he did throughout his life by sharing and caring about everyone he met.
Don leaves a legacy that is hard to follow, but a legacy that if more of us devoted ourselves to following, we would certainly create a better world.
To me....Don has left us with a challenge to be the best people that we can be and to share everything we have, with whoever we come in contact with.
Through Don's wonderful example, i hope that I can develop the talent to help others become the best that they can be!
Don was always focused on this, as well as being focused on helping people enjoy life to the fullest.
I loved this man so deeply and will do my best to repay him for his kindness and generosity by sharing the same with those I meet.
Don had such an unbelievable amount of respect and love for others. He was always looking at how he could help others be successful. He loved and admired his managers in his McDonald's stores and he was always there, emphasizing to them how much he cared for them. When he was away from the franchise, he was alway quick to give recognition to hiw wonderful managers of the "stores."
I can only say that his death is an unbelievable loss to me - he was always a "rock" to me, as I know he was to many others
I feel very blessed to have known Don (and Paula) for many years and to have had the opportunity to share a number of Summers on Martha's Vineyard with them.
Don is the one person that I know who truly gave "unconditional love" to the people he met and became friends with. For that, I will always be grateful.
Don.....I wish you peace in Heaven and I fully expect you to come to all of us and share with us your "secret" to how to live life to the fullest!
I want to thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and mentorship to me! I will miss you so much!
Please guide me to be the best person that I can be and continue to share you love and guidance to me.
You a person who has made a significant difference in my life and I thank you so very much for your love, support, guidance, and friendship.
I hope you will stay with me and guide me to be the best person I can be and to share all of my achievements with others, who may be less fortunate.
I must say, that I think God may have made a mistake in taking you so early in your life. I can only hope that God will find a way to "re-incarnate" you and send you out to help others live life to the fullest, as you have always done.
I have always held such a deep respect for you and I have always utilized you as a very powerful and positive role model.
Thank you for your kindness and your love and caring of me and Tim. We will cherish the wonderful time we have spent with you and never forget your unconditional love and humor.
Don, we love you from the bottom of our hearts and you will always be in our thoughts and prayers....as will be Paula, Donny Jr. and his family.
Thank you for always sharing all of yourself with me and being such a wonderful friend and role model!
I will miss you so very, very much!

My heartfelt condolences to Paula and the family. I had the opportunity to meet Don during a trip to Cape Verde in 2007 and grew extremely fond of his work and compassionate attitude towards the community. He touched many lives for the better and examplyfied what a true capeverdean is and should be. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and may you find comfort in his infectious laughter and cheerful nature that has always brought joy in everyone's lives that he crossed.
With deepest sympathy and shock at Don's sudden passing. My prayers to Paula, Don Jr and family. He was a great example of the McDonald's family.
