What a great person Carolyn was! She helped a group of us start the Vincent -Bernhardt Circle to deal with raising our consciousness levels on all kinds of current issues. How proud we were of her for being the first female minister at FUMC! Thank you,Bert, for sharing her with us. She was indeed an inspiration and a light forward for so many.
Dear family, Although I am sure Carolyn touched a multitude with her sweet ways and good works, I want to share with you a special memory I have which has warmed my heart for over 40 years. Once I was in the backseat of her car as she drove a bunch of us youngsters home from a canoe trip to Canada. On a stop at Stuckeys, I took my little Spruce sapling, which I had been given as a souvenir, into the bathroom to water it. I forgot it on a shelf. Far down the road, she heard me exclaim that I had forgotten my little treasure. I remember watching the world fly by and with each mile that passed I grew more convinced that there could be no way that she could backtrack so far. Yet, much later, when an exit finally appeared, she turned that car around. She gave me an hour of her time; an hour that she would sorely feel on that seemingly endless drive to Alabama and an hour that my carelessness didn't deserve. It may seem trivial, but to me, it epitomizes her selflessness and her love. I will always smile when I think of her.
So sorry for yoour loss. Lindsay, you and Bert and the whole family will be in my prayers.
Bert and Family, My sincerest sympathies to you all. Miz Carolyn was just precious and I will always remember her kindness I witnessed on Emmaus Walks. May God bless you and give you peace.
Peter and Bert,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. We are thinking of you and your families.
Sister Mary Dominic, I don't expect you to recognize my married name, but you & I attended BSC together. I was Brenda K. Smith at the time. I met your Mother when we went to your home one day; I felt an immediate connection to her. I've watched her accomplish great things since becoming a pastor. She has since made huge contributions to the lives of many people. May God bless you and your family during this difficult time.
Rest in Peace Carolyn. I was proud to have known you in my life. You were always kind & considerate too me & you will be missed.
Bert and family and friends and those that Dorothy Pitts ministered to past, present, and beyond, Please know that I am praying for you as you send this sweet angel home to be with our Heavenly Father. Praise God for the life she lived and for the life that she will continue to live through all of you.
