Farewell to a beautiful, intelligent, fun loving woman and a dear friend. She will be missed by those who loved her.
Brice and Dora Draper - Del Mesa
I was saddened to hear of Dorothy's passing -- she was a lovely human being and a good, reliable journalist, with whom I was honored to work with.
To the family of Dorothy Dodge: We don't always have to know a family to have empathy for them when they lose a loved one in death. I wish to express my condolences as you endure this great loss. Also, our loving heavenly Father is the "God of all comfort" and he can and will help you through this difficult period because "he cares for you".
Dorothy has had a lasting influence on me. She was demanding and encouraging. A great journalist. A tough boss. A great teacher. A gracious host.
Dorothy and I met at Stanford in 1949. Our friendship continued when she worked on the Appeal-Democrat: I'd leave Concord at 3 p.m. on Fridays after teaching to storm through the valley to spend weekends, the beneficiary of Dorothy's fun parties and her father's trout plentiful in DD's freezer. Our mothers and we traveled together to Mt.Shasta, and DD and I had good times at Ashland. She was a sincere and generous friend.
A unique individual, and an intellectual who could match wits with the best of them. She also was a kind soul, who respected others. Dorothy loomed large in my early adulthood. I am grateful.
I had the pleasure of working closely with Dorothy for nine years at The Herald. She was a consummate and conscientious journalist and a very fine and witty person who made coming to work that much more pleasant.
A tough but great boss, Dorothy was an even better journalist who guided me for many years in Marysville.
Dorothy and I enjoyed many trips down the coast to see Jan and Richard and on occasion enjoyed going to Rocky Point for lunch. Dorothy will be greatly missed.
Dorothy--A great friend for 50 years, from Marysville days on. A good pal who shared common interests, especially on politics, good food, and mutual friends She was a specialist in the art of conversation.
