I find it hard to find the right words to express what I am feeling as I write this. Uncle Earl was what every man strives to be. God, Country, and Family. He set an example of these values my entire life. As a child, when he talked, I kept quiet out of respect. I knew the result any other action would bring, from Daddy. As an adult, I listened with heart-felt wonder and love. I will always remember Uncle Earl for the way he lived. The cigar, the endless smile, and that shine that was always in his eyes! If it is possible, heaven is a much better place with his being there to accept his rightful place with the rest of the Barkley family that is welcoming him home.
To Aunt Louise, Pat, Tim, and John: Please know that I am loving, thinking of, and praying for all of us, at this time of great loss.
In closing, I just must say, what an honor and blessing it was, and always will be to have had you all in my family. What a life Uncle Earl lived!!
God Bless you all.
As always, I am Tab

I want to pass my sympathies along to Louise and the family. Earl Lee was a wonderful man and I remember many hours listening to my grandparents and him talking on Sunday afternoons when I was a child. My prayers are with the entire family. May God place His arms around you all and give you peace.

Earl Barkley was one of the finest men I have ever known, he was also my dear and precious Uncle. I am so thankful for all the times I have spent talking with my Uncle Earl about the rich history of the Barkley/Farrar/Starnes Families. He always made sure the family got together every summer, after school ended, to spend a week at the beach. He was so family oriented and hosted our Barkley Christmas Party at his and Aunt Louise's home. He was "one of a kind" and if you were fortunate enough to know him, you will never forget him. At this time our hearts are very heavy but I know at some time, we will see each other again. My sympathy goes out to my precious Aunt Louise, my dear sweet cousins, Pat, Tim and John and the extended family. Uncle Earl, you will be tremendously missed, my life was so much better because of the Barkley Family I was born into and loved. Your niece, Chris Barkley Hooper
