One of my favorite pilots to fly with at National and Pan Am. Nice guy, good pilot, and a pleasure to hang out with.He will be missed.
Ed and Karen have been great friends for over 45yrs. With mine and my late brothers families. Great pilot, great friend and a dedicated Christian. Karen,I couldn't find your address but know Ed will be missed by many many friends. You, Eddie, Tommy, Greg, and Dawn are in our hearts and prayers.
May the memories of Eddie bring you joy and may the true God grant you comfort during this sad time.(Ps 83:18,Matt 5:4)Dave
When I think of Ed I think of the word Big. Big Man, big hands, big voice, big laugh, big personality and big Heart. I think passengers and crews felt safe with him around. He was a bear of a man, a friend to all. Sorry about his passing.
I am sorry for your loss. I lost Robert, 6 years ago after 39 years together. They are both in a better place and we will see them again. Elaine Scales
a great friend and pilot. Patrick Ledford
Chief Pilot B-727 NAL
We are saddened by your loss. I knew Ed at National, a fine Gentleman and a pleasure to be with. He will be missed.
My husband Steve and I both flew with Ed at National and Pan Am. He was a great pilot and very professional. My late father, Emory Steele, taught Ed how to drive a cement truck during one of the many early strikes at National Airlines and regarded him as a valued friend. May his flight west be smooth. Linda and Steve Mills
I flew with Captain Eddie at National and Pan Am. He was always a pleasure to fly with. His pilot skills were exceptional and his demeanor with crew and passengers was friendly and professional. His robust baritone voice always put the passengers at ease. It was great to see him at a National Buccaneers reunion recently.
Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy for your loss…my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
You have been a great husband, father, grandfather, and member of our family. We will all miss you, but know that you are at peace with our heavenly Father.
I heart felt prayers are with your wonderful loving family. Ed's personality was one of a kind that depicted a man in control with a love for mankind. God bless each of you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Darnell family, and we know that Eddie is at eternal peace in God's Kingdom.
May God bless you during this time of sorrow. Our Prayers are with you all.

Mr. Ed Darnell-I'll ALWAYS remember & TREASURE the times at Christ Lutheran where Tommy, Greg my sister and Kate Flack along with Margo Crawford would be sitting in the front pew of the church and hearing your voice singing behind us, along with the after service going to Jungle Jim's and boating and the love that filled through out the house and The Lord Almighty Got a VERY TRUE Angel and I'm blessed to have had the memories with you as many others also will. Your a spirit made of love and laughter and I'll never forget you.
