It was may great privilage to work for and with Ed Armistead for over 30 years. His strength of character always showed and his word was his bond.Through good times and bad he had a calm, steady at the helm demeanor and a subtle humor I'm not sure everybody got a chance to see.....A great man in word and deed.
My love and condolence to Mrs. Armistead you all made a great couple.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Sarah and Bill & family. So sorry for your loss.
After Ed retired, I had the privilege of working with him on several projects. Ed was a talented architect and he agonized over every detail exactly as described in his obituary. It was his intense concentration and attention to detail that led to highly successful designs, thereby avoiding many pitfalls and surprises during construction. He had a big influence on the way I now approach design problems, although I can not possibly sustain the effort he would exert on the most minute detail. He also like to discuss and debate design issues, and he would take all sides during the course of the conversation to make sure nothing was missed. When I finally saw the genius in all this I learned to enjoy the exercise. Projects we worked on together include buildings in Franklin and Parsons, TN, and probably one of the last buildings Ed designed, the notable Carl Perkins Visitor Center in Tiptonville, TN. My condolences to Sarah, Bill, and Brianna, you are in my thoughts and prayers as I remember my friend Ed.

Love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death.
I can't think of a childhood memory of Tenn that doesn't have Uncle Ed!
We'll miss you so much!
