My parents, Marshall & Marguerite Roach became friends with Ted & Evelyn many years ago when the guys were stationed in Calif. in the Navy. Growing up we all really enjoyed reading Evelyn's letters & cards updating her family's activities and especially the pictures she sent. I really loved the ones of the kids playing in the snow, because in Texas we didn't see much of that!! Marguerite passed away last July and in going through her keepsakes there were many letters, cards & pictures from Evelyn. (Including the newspaper picture of her gardening!) My daughter-in-law was fascinated by the stories and actually was attempting to find Evelyn when she found this notice of her death. My Mom & Dad did make it to Washington to visit them only one time shortly before my Dad's death. Their friendship endured amazingly well over so many years and so many miles! I hope the four of them are reunited & enjoying catching up in Heaven!
I have never met Evelyn, but she has become very dear to me through reading her letters that she wrote to my husbands grandparents, Marguerite and Marshall Roach. She was a beautiful person to have as a friend as evidenced through her letters and pictures. I am sad that I never had the privilege to meet her and let her know how much her letters and pictures meant to the Roach family.
Didn't know you mother personally. Wishing you fond memories of your years with her.
May the Lord Bless you and the family at this time.
