He heard the tires squealing to a stop … then he heard the scream … without hesitation he ran outside and picked up the girl that was lying on the ground … he brought her into our house and called 911. She had scrapes and was only slightly injured … When my mother and sisters looked at him we were a little caught off guard … my father was in his underwear! My father cared more about others then himself!
I remember being knocked out playing football when I was a youngster … I took the handoff and ran around the corner … helmet to helmet contact and I was out for a few minutes! The first person I saw when I woke up a few minutes later was Coach Kelly – my father! He really liked coaching kids!
I remember being knocked out … yes a few times in my life … I was playing hockey and took a slap shot to the outside of my ankle – as soon as the puck hit me the immense pain caused me to pass out … once again the first person I saw when I woke up was my father!
Friday March 1, 2013 late in the evening my father had a massive heart attack. He didn't suffer, it was quick – but at 78 years of age he was taken from us a few years too early!
When people ask what I remember about my father I think of how much he enjoyed helping kids … I remember how much he enjoyed coaching kids … I think of the two stories that started this little memorial for him.
Help me mourn the loss of my father by sharing your favorite story of him …
I miss you Dad … Love you!!!
We were sorry to learn of the death of your brother. Our deepest sympathy to you and may he rest in peace.
