Greg was one of the original "old guard" sergeants when I began my career in 1990. When I became a sergeant in 2003, Greg was my sergeant trainer. He retired a year later. Now, I am one of the "old guard" sergeants in the eyes of the new, young officers. Wow! Times change.
Greg will be missed. Condolences to friends and family.
When I got hired in 1985, Greg was my first Sergeant on days. He taught me a lot which I still remember to this day. You will be missed. Our prayers are with you and your family.
While I only recently met Greg, I was Payton's coach for FPS at Brown. We are so terribly sorry to hear of your loss. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Mark and John, Payton's team mates from FPS, send special prayers for her as she copes with her grief. If there is any way at all that we can help, please let us know.
Greg and I worked together at Laguna Beach P.D. for years and we were roommates for a while. Greg had a smile that would light up the room and a sense of humor that would leave my jaws hurting from laughing so hard. He was very professional and proud to be member of the LBPD family. Once when I was riding motors Greg pulled up as the Patrol Sgt. to check on me. The citizen proceeded to see his stripes and made a complaint on me. Greg looked the guy straight in the eyes and said, "Sir, he can't help it, he's rigid." With that he got in his car and left and the citizen did too!!
All my best to his loving family.
My prayers are with you, Dawn and the children. I am so glad you were a part of our family.
On behalf of everyone here at the Laguna Beach Police Department, we are deeply saddened by this loss. Greg was a member of this family and spent many years in the leadership team here. When I was hired as a full-time police officer in 1976, I was assigned to Greg as my training officer. Over the years we had many good times together. Greg was a good guy and cared deeply for his family. God bless you Greg!
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time.
A special prayer goes to Payton from our daughter Audra who is in the same homeroom as her.

My dearest brother,
I find this to be one of the most difficult things to write. Since the passing of our mother, I haven't felt this pain in my heart. I still find this all to be a dream.
As I think back, I remember all the great times we have had together. It's apparent you have been a big impact on my life. after all, I did follow you out to California and never lived far away. You always made an effort for me to be part of your family(s).
I know you were not expecting to pass so soon, but God has his reasons.
Gregory, you will be missed.
Gregg was my cousin Dawns husband..He was a wonderful guy, and we will never forget the look in his face when Dawn brought him out to Palm Springs in July of 1994 it was 118 degrees from 68 they left in Laguna Beach to meet our Grandmother....Gregg treated us so special when we always visit them the same goes with Dawn.. Our kids bonded so good and Gregg was smart, funny and full of humor and we will miss him dearly.....
