Happy "First Birthday in Heaven", Greg. I'm sure by now you've taught the Celestial Choir a few Czech tunes, and Heaven's the happier place for it. :)

My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends remembering Greg today.

Greg enriched the lives of everyone he met. His genuine concern for others, his wonderful sense of humor, and his encouragement inspired us to be better human beings.

I have known uncle Greg my whole life as far as I can remember. As my sister mentioned, I too will always remember him lifting us high into the air on the count of "thrrrreeeee." I remember how much fun we had visiting him at his Virginia home. I loved that he live right on a golf course at the time and I would watch the golfers play through. But if by chance on the golfers hit their ball into the sand trap by uncle Greg's backyard, I was the first to insist to rake the sand after the golfer had hit the ball out; most of the golfers took me up on my offer. I remember that same day uncle Greg took my sister and I to a movie; the Flintstones (real live version). More recently we have enjoyed coming to visit uncle Greg and aunt Roz at their beautiful Colorado home. We have been skiing with them and have had numerous opportunity to enjoy the scenery on motorcycle trips. You can see that every one of my experiences with uncle Greg have been full of fun and very memorable times; from when I was very young to the last time I got to see him face to face (this last summer). The one thing that I will forever take from uncle Greg is that he was never negative and always positive. Even in his latest fight, he seemed to always view the situation as a challenge; he never called anything a problem. I love you very much uncle Greg and will forever miss you. May we all take your life, attitude and personality not as motivation for life, but as an inspiration of life...life to the fullest.

We love you and rest in peace.

There are no words that can express our deepest sympathy to you Roz. You were his Ruzenka (his rose)! You made his life complete and what a blessing you are in our lives, too. We thank you for everything you have done for Greg (our brother). We love you and you are in our thoughts and in our prayers. Greg was so special to us! He leaves us with a great void in our hearts. And we thank God for blessing us with all that Greg brought into our lives: Faith, trust in God, love of life, positive attitude, patience, kindness, his generosity and hospitality, happiness, he was always fun, his love for music (he was always humming a tune or singing), his great talent in playing instruments, especially the accordian and piano; and for all the precious memories we are left with, they are forever in our hearts. Greg was an inspiration to all who were "lucky" enough and "blessed" to know him. Greg, you will be deeply missed. We put our hand in God's hand and in faith continue on.
We love you! Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Spanem Bohem!

Even though Greg wasn't my actual “uncle,” my brother and I adopted him as so when we were very little. He was Uncle Greg to us and was amazing! I will forever remember his smile. Every time I saw him that's exactly what he was doing…smiling! His smile was contagious and always made me happy just standing next to him. When I was a little girl, Uncle Greg and I used to have “our thing” which he would count to 3 (and after rolling his “r” of the word three) would throw me up in the air. My husband, Craig, does this with our daughter now and every time I think of Uncle Greg. Greg was always singing a tune, doing a little dance, and always had a spring in his step as well. We had some fabulous family vacations going out to visit him and then later him and Roz. They were amazing together and I was so happy he found such an incredible person to spend the rest of his life with. We also adopted her as our Aunt too. Greg was one of those people who you come across in life that your heart will never be able to forget. I am so thankful to have known him! Even though his time here on earth has ended it will stand true that he will live on in the minds, hearts, and cherished memories of those who loved him!

What an amazing man was "uncle" Greg, as I came to know him. Even though I've only known him for the two years Mike and I have been married, he and aunt Roz made me feel like family from the very beginning! He was such a positive, loving and compassionate person. I remember his hospitality when we visited before his diagnosis. His chili was outstanding, not to mention the delicious chocolate cake he made that we teased at fighting each other for the last piece.
Any man who honors his parents like I saw uncle Greg honor his father is blessed! Despite his own health challenges he still made time to be there for his dad when he physically could.
Even when we visited him while he was in hospital he was more concerned about us being safe in our travels than he wanted us to be about him. Even though his body was frail, his spirit man was strong! He remained positive through it all! We can rest assured that he is receiving his great reward in Heaven! He gave unconditional love to many, especially aunt Roz. He shared genuine smiles and times of laughter and impacted and changed the lives of many for the better, forever! May we all strive to have such a remarkable character as he did!
We love you uncle Greg!
Rest in eternal peace!

A great, great guy. Greg played on my Polka Band for over 38 years and
was a solid Accordionist as well a drummer and Piano player. It is a
crushing loss. Our prayers to Roslyn, his family , from all of us in the music
business. What a Treasure he was! Ron Nadherny and the Orchestra

I had a few "Best Friends" in High School and Greg was one of them. With both of us being 100% Czech it was natural that he'd teach me to play the drums (Greg was also an accomplished drummer). Then he, Ernie Havorka and I would be a 3 man band at Charlie's tavern on 42nd and Y Street. Afterwards we'd sneak down stairs and "have a few" even though we were under age! I recall driving around in the little red Jeep with a 4 banger in it thinking we could climb any hill. And yes, his smile....always accompanied him where ever he went. With God's grace and Greg's life-long love of his Lord and Savior may he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Greg Trojan. Greg was my first "dance partner". In fourth grade at good old St.Joseph Grade school. Our whole class was paired up in a Hansel and Gretl skit. I then did the polka with Greg at a friends wedding. He told me I was doing it all wrong! He was Czech and I was Polish! Ha! I then ran into Greg at a Polka Mass at Polka Days. He was playing in one of the bands. Years later, I saw Greg around the old neighborhood. He was dressed in Navy whites! I had no idea that Greg was such an accomplished musician, and in the Navy!
I should have known, Greg declared "In Heaven There Is No Beer", as our 8th grade class song! Be at Peace. I shall always remember you...

Greg was one of the nicest people I have ever known. He was a great musician and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace my Friend.
December 23, 2012
Greg taught me how to drive a "three on the tree" on his flat-finned Chevy when I was 16 years-old. He was the nicest and most positive individual. He always had a smile on his face.
December 22, 2012
I never met anyone like him. Always a smile, even in the face of adversity. Always an optomist no matter what the odds. Never a cross word, he only had goodness in his heart. The Earth lost a wonderful soul. I lost a wonderful friend and heaven gained one glorious angel. There was so much more I wish we could have done together in our life after the Navy. But, I thank God for the many years I called Greg my dear friend. From Kilo Company at OCS and throughout the past 32 years, I have been blessed to have Greg as part of my life and the life of my family. The angels have "piped" you home. You will be sorely missed, my friend.

Greg will forever be in our hearts. Since 1980, he has been an integral party of our family and he and his beautiful wife, Roslyn have shared in so many of our family's special memories. It is with sadness, we bid him farewell, but, we know he travels to a better place in the arms of angels. "Fair winds and following seas, Greg, until we meet again. With Love, Michael & Noreen & family

My sympathy to Roz and extended family. One of my great memories of Greg was decades ago when I was playing a wedding reception and dance in Tabor, SD at the Beseda Hall. This man, Greg, comes up to the stage and says to the accordionist, "can I use your accordion and play a few?" At that point we took the chance and it was wonderful. We learned all about Greg Trojan. Later, I was able to play some gigs with him as well, including with the Coppersmiths. May God rest his soul.
December 21, 2012
God needed another musician in his great polka band. He certainly lifted up a great person when he took Greg home. My husband , Duane, and I have known Greg since he was a kid running around in his Dad's tavern. I am sure that Duane and Ed and Pete Janak and Greg are already together entertaining with their talents just like they used to do.
My prayers to the family.

My sympathy to Roz and Charlie and extended family. He was soooo much fun to do gigs with - we had a lot of fun seeing who could outdo who on licks and fills in tunes. Turning the Clarinet polka into a schottische will be one of my favorite memories of him. Bobby Z

Greg always had a cheery smile and spoke kind and uplifting words. He was truly a Gentleman with many amazing talents. It was always a pleasure playing with Greg on stage. I will hold those memories forever in my heart. Rest in peace my friend.

We lost a good one! It was my honor to know Greg and play along side him. He is playing polkas for all the angels in heaven.
December 20, 2012
Greg is one the kindness person I will ever know and I am thankful for even knowing him. He will surly be missed.
December 20, 2012
There was something so very genuine about Greg. Eventhough I only knew Greg as a work buddy, Greg helped me through the fear of losing my Dad. Greg was the only person who made me feel that he really did care about my loss. At all other times, Greg just made work a much more fun place! He always had a wry comment at the ready. I am so glad that Greg had Roz to help him through his toughest journey!
December 20, 2012
Roz, Sorry for your loss.
Greg was always so friendly, easy going and fun!, I remember spending days hanging out with him at his dad's bar, family functions, watching him play in the polka bands at festivals and weddings over the years. He meant so much to my Grandparents and was very helpful to my Grandmother over the years after Grandpa passed. He was a great man and will be missed by all.
December 20, 2012
Roz, I am so sorry to hear about Greg - please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Rita Allen, St Paul Parish

Forever in our hearts. A true inspiration and courageous warrior.
December 19, 2012
Remembering so many moments of Greg's good-natured sense of humor always makes me smile, if not out-right laugh, and I'm forever grateful for the music and the friends he brought into my life. He was a wonderful and gifted musician, and I'm sure he's already told God that He needs to get rid of those harps His angels are playing in Heaven and give them all accordions! My thoughts and prayers go out to Charlie and to Roz and to Greg's extended family and his many friends.
December 19, 2012
Greg was my accordion buddy. We didn't see each other often, but clenched hands to get the accordion vibes going when we did see each other. I will miss him until we meet again.
December 19, 2012
I met Greg around 1980. Whenever I was around him he seemed to be such a person of great optimism, zest and a great Love of everything in life. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone and to me will always be remembered as a great role model for everyone he came around. His successes in life showed that and I will not only miss him as a friend but someone I always had great respect and admiration for. /Ken Shuda
