Dear Penny and family: My mother, Thelma Pierce, asked that I express her sincere condolences to all of you in the death of Harlan. She remembers the last time she spoke with the two of you (at Roy Brown's memorial service) and how very much she appreciated that conversation. She also fondly recalled to me the boat races at Lily Lake many years ago when you and Harlan were part of the group (my late stepfather, Joe Pierce, was one of the racers) and the good times you shared there. It is your own precious memories and the love that you shared as a family that will sustain you through the next part of your life's journey without him. May God continue to strengthen and support each of you. Sincerely in Christian love, Marilyn Hicks Smith and Thelma Pierce

Rob sorry to hear your father passed away. Brings back memories of the days I use to come to you and your dads store to purchase glasses. A lot of time has passed . I know your dad has lived a wonderful life and God will be with you and your family now and always.
I am sorry I can't be there but I am out of the country. I just saw Harlan at the last quarterly when I bought a bumber sticker, I could never know it was the last time I would see him. I did not know Harlan outside of the lodge except for one Salmon fishing trip in New Glasgow, but I remember as a young Mason Harlan was always encouraging me to do more, very quietly but positive and I will always remember that. I know you will Miss him Vince as will all his Family and I will say a Prayer for you all.
