I loved "Mrs. Brown" . . . she was my amazing 4th grade teacher at Northwood Elementary school in Ames, Iowa! She was such a great influence on me that as a senior in high school, I chose her to be my cadet teaching mentor. Such a great lady!
I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She "mothered" me in so many way.to as I was growing up. She always had enough love to go around. During our more recent visits, she was animated as she talked about each one of you. She was a gift to me...to us all. Your parents and Skip live in my heart. I am grieving with you.
Dell, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. May she rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear the news. Mrs. Brown was a great teacher. I was in her 4th grade class in Ames (1977-1978). I was new to being a student in the US and she was wonderful in helping me transition and make friends. I learned so much academically but also about being a good person, a good friend, a contributor. I miss her. Please accept my condolences; I hope that through this sadness you will also rejoice in many fond memories of her.
My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family as you deal with the loss of such a special woman. Dani has shared wonderful stories about Ms. Brown. Her strength of character is already a legacy that Dani is living out each day. I am privileged to call Dani my friend, colleague and champion.
May you all find comfort in the days to come with memories and love.
Dell and Betty, So sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I remember her vivacious laugh and how she enjoyed life to the fullest. We will call when we return from Connecticut. Meanwhile know our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Wish I could be with you all tonight and tomorrow in person, but am sending thoughts and prayers for the family. Seems the older generation of Brown's have decided it was time for a family reunion in heaven and for the younger generation to get together once again. Guess we are no longer the younger generation though. Hugs to you all!

Mrs. Brown was my fourth grade teacher at Northwood Elementary in 1977-1978. She was firm, fair, and kind as a teacher, skilled as an instructor, and when I was a little girl I adored her with all my heart. I was the new kid in school and struggled. She made sure I fit in. I've had fond memories and much gratitude for her influence on me all my life. My condolences on your loss. She will be missed.
Oh Delly as I sit here weeping there are so many memories flooding through of Hellyan and you. We had such good times with your family. Your mom was an inspiration with her love for children and others. Missing your Dad and Skip had to be hard on her. Now they are all reunited and enjoying each other lots and lots without all the cares of this world. My mom is right there with them drinking coffee and they are have a great time. My heart breaks for your loss and I send all my love.
Dell and family, My deepest sympathies to you in your GREAT loss. Helen (or Hell-yan as we called her growing up) was such a firecracker. Your Mom and Dad were such great friends to my parents when they lived next door in Ames, and continued their friendship throughout life. When I was in high school I did an internship at Northwood with Helen and had the time of my life. It was so evident that she had found work that meant something to her, and she touched many lives of children. I have even come across some of the kids from that short time and they always talk so fondly of Mrs. Brown. Mom and I got to visit with Helen a few years before Mom (Lois Frye Linder) passed, and it was a beautiful reunion. She showed us pictures of the kids and just glowed as she talked about them. I am glad your Mom and Dad are reunited now, and I'm sure they are having a cup coffee with my Mom and chatting up the neighborhood! I hope you hear lots of great stories through the coming days that make you laugh and cry..memories are good for the healing. I'll be praying for you this week.
You lived a great long life and as a teacher and great person, touched so many hearts! Rest in peace. Enjoy your eternal reunion! We will always be reminded of your kindness, wisdom, and memories dear to our hearts. Love you Aunt Helen!!
