Betty, Being the amazing woman that you are; it's no surprise you married a great man! The memorial service was a beautiful tribute to Howard's life. Sixty years together says so much about you both; your commitment, love and dedication to God and each other. You are a blessing and inspiration, and I'm praying for you always! Love,

Coach, Thank you for all you did for the athletes and students of Rogers High School. You reminded me of the Coach from Hoosiers! You also came back from the military and coached his team to a state championship. Thanks again because you helped me grow into a better man, Cleve Branscum

I played football at RHS from 1957- 1959
under Coach Sutton. We never cursed at pratice or during a game and we treated the refs with respect. Coach turne boys into men and men into gentle-men.

Coach Sutton was superintendent when I was in High School and I was so scared of him but he turned out to be one of the influnces in my life. I only had to go to the office once and was thought for sure I was about to get paddled for fighting with another girl, but instead he told me to be nice to her because she had no friends. Betty he was a great man and he will be missed. Shelia Moad

I was lucky because I got to know Howard outside of school on hunting and fishing trips with my dad. He helped me and many others through those tough transition years. I remember talking to him once when I was doubting myself. When we finished the talk, I thought I could do anything. I grateful that you were all in my life.

My condolences to your family on the passing of a great man. Mr. Sutton was my principal in high school in the early 70's. I remember him being strict but very fair. He was well loved and left a legacy of young people who were taught the value of character. No one can ask for more.

Mr. Sutton (No former student would EVER call him 'Howard')was a great leader. There was a stern side and also a compassionate, loyal side to this great man. Mr.Sutton was the type of man that everyone wanted to please. He made a great impression on so many Rogers youth. In my mind, Mr. Sutton has always been one of those important Rogers legends that will forever be remembered.

Howard was loved by all who knew him.
I have many memories of Howard and Paul. What good times they had, in high school playing football and after as they grew older. How he loved fried green tomatoes. I would cook for He and Paul all they could hold. He also loved the Gumbo I made every year for his birthday. What great memories. I will always remember him as my friend. Now he will be with Paul in Heaven.

Mr. Sutton was the principal at my high school in Gravette my senior year 1975. I thought he was a really nice guy. I'm not sure how long he stayed at Gravette.

It has been years since I last saw Howard. I am the daughter of Guy & Katherine Whorton (Whorton Chevrolet, Huntsville). My dad and mother knew Howard and Betty but especially Howard. Daddy worked at Sutton Chevrolet for your grandfather, Ted Sutton. My parents always thought well of your dad and was amused one time when my dad and mom was in Fayetteville or Springdale and my mom who used to have black hair was now white haired. Howard recognized my dad but thought at first he was with a different woman because of Mom's now white hair. My dad got a good laugh and Howard said he was so happy that Daddy had not let him down - by being with some other woman.
