Rest in peace Marine, you are paid in full.

Dear, Dennis, Son, and Derek, our family has fond memories of meeting Ian in San Antonio over Christmas break one year when we were there visiting. Our daughter, Sarah, says she remembers Ian as being "very charismatic". We are so glad that his memories of golf trips with Dennis to MN were a shared source of comfort. We remember him as such an honorable young man. Our deepest sympathies to your entire family. Kathy Roderick

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Ian Buxton our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Ian. And to Ian it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ian, you served with honor and distinction; we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Ians's family and loved ones.

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.

His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.

Dennis, Son, and family

My deepest sympathy to you all on the loss of Ian. I only met him once at the Kelly Golf Course just after he returned from Iraq. I remember him as a very nice young man and easy to talk to. May he rest in peace.

Dennis and Son -
I can't fathom the emptiness you must feel at the passing of your son, Ian, into the world where there is all peace and no care. You are all in our prayers at this time. I did not know your son, but knew Dennis and met Son so I know he was a good man whose presence in this world will be missed.
God Bless you both.

Dennis/Son,
Please accept our sincerest regards during your period of grief. We didn't know Ian but we knew you two, so Ian had to be top drawer. I'm sure you're proud of his accomplishments. What a loss; so young and so much to look forward to. Life seems so unfair and frequently deals one a lousy hand. Carolyn and I send you our very best. Warmest Regards, Dave & Carolyn Piirto
