To the Surrency Family:
My late Husband, Dan Elder, served faithfully on the Oconee Utility Authority with Ida for many years. She was indeed very instrumental in getting the water tower on New High Shoals Rd. Dan had the pleasure of christening it at a ceremony on a beautiful day. He christened it with a bottle of RED wine from Bill Rosser's vineyards ! Ida became our dear friend and she provided us with lots of laughs, serious talks, and very intuitive thoughts about Oconee County and its government, traditions, and community spirit. I'll always cherish her memory. She was a fine , strong woman ! Joy T. Elder Watkinsville, GA
We were so blessed to have Mr. Erwin and Mrs. Ida as neighbors in Watkinsville. I will never forget them. They were wonderful friends, and part family. I remember going and visiting with them and playing with their adopted dog, Lady. I know Mrs. Ida and Mr. Erwin are dancing together in heaven. They always had time for you and were always so encouraging. May we all strive to be such good neighbors and friends to others.
My mother, Blanche Dixon, often spoke highly and lovingly of both Mr. and Mrs. Surrency. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. Jane Dixon Tillitski.
As a young child, I lived next door to the Surrencys in PA. Mrs. Surrency was like a second mom to me during those years when Ellen and I were best friends. She was kind and gracious and has always held a special place in my heart. My prayers are with Ellen, Robert and their families. Love, Candy
Remembering Ida the best friend and neighbor we have ever had. She was one of a kind. Love, Jim and Marilyn Allison
