I served with Jim on the U.S.S. Oldendorf (DD-972). To me, he was what a Chief Petty Officer should have been. He was a great technician, a mature leader, and a great friend. He always had patience for younger sailors like myself. I consider knowing him a privilege. I'll miss him.
This was a huge shock when I heard this. Chief was a great guy and always around when you needed to talk to someone. RIP Chief and condolences to the family and friends.
Sorry for your loss Jim was a great guy!

So sorry for your lose. I remember meeting you at an inservice and we talked about how both of our husbands did time in the Navy. I could tell right away how much you loved Jim from how your eyes would light up when you talked about how you two met. I enjoyed hearing stories of the two of you going back and forth over your respective branches of the military. May you find comfort in your memories and your loves one at this time.
There will never be the right words to erase the pain you are experiencing. Just know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. My dad and I know all too well the struggle of having someone taken from us before their time. So if you need anything, anything at all, do not hesitate to ask. I would be more than happy to help. You are greatly loved and have an army behind you, an army that is going to be there for you whenever you need them.
May all remember Chief as an amazing man, I know I will. My prayers are with your family.

Chief was a great colleague; he was extremely supportive at the start of my teaching career when I had to manage some difficult students who were also his ROTC cadets. He was well-respected and admired by all of us. He will be missed. My condolences to June and the family.
June, I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like James was a great guy. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Chief, you will live on through the many lives that you profoundly touched including Shane's. Your wry wit and tenacity has had an incredible impact on your cadets, colleagues, friends, and will continue to do so. You are missed without question. June, words will never be sufficient. Know that we are always here. Love and Prayers, Cindy and Shane (AN USN USS John C. Stennis)
I was never in JROTC but Chief was still one of my favorite people at Bayside. He was a role model and a great man, I'm glad I got to know him the way I did. I can still to this day replay every time he asked me "When are you joining my class?". I never did but I wish I had. I'm happy for the memories I have of him and will treasure them always. I will surely miss this man.
Save another dance for me up there, chief!
As for his family, I am sorry for your loss, He was such a great man and I will keep all of you and him in my prayers. God bless everyone.
Dear Chief and family,
I will never forget how influential Chief was in my life. He was one of the most honorable men I ever met. When I was in some hard times back in High School, while I was in N.J.R.O.T.C, Chief and the entire program helped me in so many ways. Chief was one of the few men in my life that made me feel like they were proud of me. He cared so much; so entirely. I know he is in a better place, and I can only imagine he is in the best place; for that is what he deserves- the best. I didn't get a chance to see him recently, but the memories I am left with of him are cherished. I hope that everyone is remembering the cherished moments and good times. I wish you all the absolute best. I know he is visiting with loved ones that have also passed, including Jimenez. Thank you for everything, Chief. You will be remembered, always.
You are now and always will be my hero. You restored my faith and belief in love and soulmates. May you finally rest and find the peace you have sought. Like you gestured to each of us before you passed, you will always be in our hearts also. I will carry our memories with me forever. I love you James Robert Sefchick.
I'm so sorry for your families loss. Ever since I had been back in Florida, I have been meaning to go say to Chief. I now regret not doing it sooner.. He was an amazing teacher and an amazing role model.
Mrs.Sefchick, I'm terribly sorry for your loss, I wish I was able to come and be a part of your strength tomorrow, but I can't make it. Your family is forever in my prayers. I love you so much!
We are so sorry to hear about your daddy. I know you'll make sure Kenzie will know who her grandfather was. He loved you so much. I can remember when we first met your mom and dad 29 years ago and your mom was pregnant with you. Then watching the three of you on Christmas morning gave us a heads up about parenting! He was such an avid Star Trek fan! We have great memories of him as I know you do too. Keep them close and know that your daddy will always be with you. He's gone from his earthly body and will be forever in your heart. God bless you, Kenzie, your mom and your grandmother during this time of mourning. We love you very much Precious Jewels!
Chief J.R. Sefchick, We salute you and thank you for your service of The USAN and the BSJROTC My your family know we are citizens who were blessed to have know you and are thankful for the leadership you provider for us at BSHS...

You taught us leadership and respect and no matter what never gave up on us. Having you as the bowling coach also was a great experience we all had a blast. Chief, as a 2012 graduate of Bayside high School an a 3rd year cadet of ROTC in honor of all the cadets who had the pleasure of being under your leadership I salute you. and will salute you the day I see you at the golden gates. you are a Veteran, a Mentor, a Teacher, a Leader, a Coach, and a Friend.
