So sorry to read about Jesse's passing today...a great article in today's paper by Ensley...Jesse was a geunine and unique person who inspired so many around him....a great co-worker and a delight to be with him during our days together working for the Legislature. I am fortunate that I had the pleasure of knowing him and working with him . He will always be remembered fondly.

Everyone should be so lucky as i was to have Jesse in their life. He let me shine by allowing me to take credit for his many generous acts of kindness and brillant ideas that helped so many people in our great state. He was confident and secure enough in his self to let a 27 year old country girl from Waukeenah appear much brighter than she was because he knew others were watching and he wanted the younger generation to succeed and her failure would have been a disaster for others who may be inspired to participate in public service. Also, Jesse would have never allowed another accent which rivaled his to appear "dumb" unless,of course, the situation required us to be. He was a great role model,a loyal friend, and one of my greatest and best cheerleaders. Because of him I am a better person,a wiser person, and someone with name recognition even though i havent held public office since 1992.Now thats a great promoter. Nancy, I just learned of his passing today and am sorry I did not know in time to attend his memorial service. As you and his children know Jesse truly loved people and people loved him. it's funny but he and you are in a handful of people that are a little older than me that i never felt compelled to address as Mr. or Mrs.,not for lack of respect but because ya'll were so young at heart and fun. My very best wishes and prayers are extended to the family. thank ya'll for sharing him with us.Jesse lives forever in the lives he touched. Jesse was a kind person who loved people and gave generously to those around him. The world was a better place because he was here!
My thoughts and prayers are with you Mrs. Burt and your family. Just thinking about him now I'm cracking up with laughter. He was truly a joy and enjoyed life! Something, I'm just learning to do!

My dad taught me how to be a MAN, take care of my family and do the right thing no matter what it took. I wish that I had listened more to him and if I can be half the man he was, then I'll consider myself to have honored his memory. My goal in life is to serve the LORD and raise my children to do the same, my dad equipped me to do that and that's really what being a parent is all about, equipping your children to succeed in life what ever direction the Lord leads them. He will be missed, Love you Daddy! Royce Burt
My life has been so blessed to know Jesse and Nancy. Full of love of life, and cared deeply for each other and their very extended family.
Mr. Burt was one of the finest, most generous and kind hearted men I ever had the chance to know. He always thought of others. My prayers go out to the family at such a huge loss.
