So sad to hear of the passing of a good friend. I will miss his smile and his love of people.
Rest in Peace my friend
My deepest sympathy. I have never met you or Jimmy, but heard only great things about you both. May God wrap his arms around you and your family. (Widowed, as well, June 2010)
I've known Jimmy for the last 13 years. It was with great sadness that I learned of his death last week. Jimmy was a genuine good guy. He was always asking how he could help, volunteer or make things better for other people. His love of God and other people came through in his work and personal life. Jimmy, we miss you.
Jimmy was one of my two best friends and only 12 days older than me! He came to Leesville, Louisiana due to his parents being transferred to Ft. Polk. That was Dothan's loss and Leesville High School's greatest gain, in the form of "big man defensive tackle" Jimmy Auvil who we nicknamed "TINY" because he was everything but "tiny"...BIG in heart and the will to play football and studies in a strange high school way over here in Louisiana.
Jimmy was the friend who only got upset on the football field or in defense of his girl friend! He left us after graduation for of all places.....the University of Alabama....which we knew(for he told us often about the place whether we wanted to hear or not LOL)he was headed to the sacred battle ground of THE COACH, COACH BRYANT....who we respected over here even though he beat the pants off of LSU many times....and had to hear from Jimmy all the play by play of the game, as though we did not see the game over here....we did!!!
Jimmy and I talked often, at least every couple of months since those days of ol LHS...forty five years ago....I was blessed to live and work in Montgomery for a year and a half and get to put faces with the names Jimmy and Susan had spoke to me thru the years on the phones and visits there and here.
I will miss my buddy with all my heart...but I know that I will see him again!!....and we will spend eternity together with our Lord Jesus Christ!! He was welcomed into Heaven with open arms and a shining love that we will see one day....and a few body blocks and arm punches from some of his football team-mates from good ol Leesville High School who had pre-ceeded him into our glorious eternity. Jimmy is only waiting patiently, as always, except when they pulled out in front of him driving...and the unknowing suspect got an earfull of blowing horns from his truck....but lovingly done so without hesitation! .....for the rest of us to show up in Heaven!
And, in case you can't tell...I am going to miss that "booger" and my phone calls from Alabama....telling me the play by play of the game with LSU and how I must have missed that touchdown that the Crimson Tide just put on the score board because I was "in the kitchen"....I love you Jimmy!...45 years now and counting.....Dickie Bailes Geaux Tigers!! Roll Tide Roll esp. over Auburn...and it hurts to capitalize that A for Auburn....agreed with Jimmy on that one..."How many national championships does the Crimson Tide own....and did someone say Auburn got one....did they now!?
Hope they don't say War Eagle in Heaven, becuz that will fire Jimmy up and then the discussion is on.....Love always Dickie Bailes
I visited your home several years ago. I stopped by to pick up Jimmy and we went on to Mobile for a meeting. My fond memory will be of playing golf with him on that trip. I have never played with anyone with a passion for the game like him. His back swing was something to behold, but he made the best of it. My prayers go out to you and your family. He will be sorely missed by all of us in the ANICO family.
Jimmy was first a very believing and devoted Christian. I have never saw or spoke with Jimmy, where as he always ask about my family. When I would ask about his wife and kids he had Great Love and respect for them. Heaven is a better place now that Jimmy is there. To the family you have memories of a Great man, you too have been blessed. We will be Praying for you all.
I am very sad to hear about Mr. Auvil. Although I know he is in the arms of Jesus, those of us who knew him will greatly miss his presence. Although I didn't know him personally, whenever we would speak on the phone, he was always polite and funny. I would ask how he was and he would say - I'm blessed and highly favored. My prayers are with you all.
Susan, please accept Marilyn's and my deepest sympathy on your loss. We did so enjoy our convention with you and have thought very fondly of those days. May our faith sustain us and carry us forward until we meet again with Jimmy in that better place where he is now. Don and Marilyn Poppe
Susan - Anita and I are very sorry to hear the news. You two were always the first we looked for on the trips. Jimmy was a great man and will be missed. Al Dennis

To my dear sister, Susan, Katie, Jeremy and all the family, I send you my love and prayers as the days continue without Jimmy. I know I was "highly blessed and favored" to have known him. I love you all and wish I could ease the pain. I remember him taking the time to pray with me when I lost my dear friend, Kim Alford. I know that God is strong in all your lives and will continue to bless you. "Just think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched, for nothing loved is ever lost-and he was loved so much." (E. Brenneman)
Dr. Brannan - I was so saddened to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. The only comfort one has at a time like this is knowing that he is at home and we can look forward to a wonderful reunion someday. Grandmother of Carmen & Hannah Claire Till
What a shock! I am a Sr. '67 classmate of Jimmy's and we had just been planning a 45th class reunion. Of course, it was hoped Jimmy would come because he always made us laugh. He was such a positive person and even in high school showed his strong Christian beliefs. It was always so good to see him when he came to Leesville. My thoughts and prayers will be with his family in the coming days. Susan-- I am so glad he got to come and "show you off" at the 40th H.S. Reunion. Brenda Stanly Bealer, LHS Wampus Cat
Susan and family - Jimmy was one of the finest and most consistent men I've known. So sorry for your loss. I know, without a doubt, that he is today 'blessed and highly favored'.

I was very sad to hear of Jimmy's passing. He was one of the best things about NAIFA Alabama our professional association. He gave unselfishly of his time and treasure. He will be genuinely missed.
This past February he attended our annual Symposium where he prayed for our association and the meetings that day. When he concluded it was clear to me that his faith was not only authentic but alive and well.
I can only imagine from viewing the photos how much you will miss Jimmy.
Be encouraged..We are so blest to know that Jimmy is more alive today than he has ever been. As he views the wonders of what The Lord Jesus has prepared for us, as he is in the immediate presence of the Lord Jesus, you must know he is experiencing life on an entirely new level.
It will just be a short time...we'll all see him again.
He greatly encouraged me that day at the Symposium as I'm sure he did many everyday. I am so thankful for the impact Jiimy Auvil made on my life.
Your family will be in our prayers.
Greg Clark, Immediate Past Preseident, NAIFA Alabama
Jimmy was a great man that loved Jesus. He sponsored me to be a Gideon. I was blessed to be with Jimmy when he shared the Gospel and led an entire family to Jesus. I miss him and listening to him talk so passionately about his Savior.

You are a friend and we are blessed to have you as Riley's Dr. We will be praying that Yeshua wraps His loving arms around you and holds you in His righteous right hand.

Susan, please know that there are many in all parts of Alabama that will be missing Jimmy for a long time because of his dedication to the insurance industry. He was a friend to me for many years. We shared many hours in my office over the years talking and planning how we could serve our clients to the fullest.
I met Jim when I graduated from the Montgomery Police Academy in 1985 and signed me up for some insurance and we have been great friends ever since. My wife and I loved to go by his office and talk with him and his assistant Mary. Susan, Katie and the entire family are in OUR prayers. KC
I met Jimmy in 1977 and worked for the same company and played many a round of golf with him. Our lives had drifted apart until 3 years ago when we connected again. I was always uplifted by our conversations and was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I have many fond memories of our years of friendship and will miss him greatly.
I am blessed for having the chance to have met Jimmy and will truely miss his kindness and faith.
Jean and I are so saddened to hear that Jimmy passed. He and I have been friends for many years through work, golf, and arguing Auburn?Alabama football. Jimmy is one of the nicest people I have ever known and so staunch in his faith that we all know he is with the Lord now. Susan, Jeremy, and family, please know our prayers are with you at this time.
I am truly blessed and highly favored to have known Jimmy Auvil. Susan, Katie, Jeremy you all are in my prayers.
God bless you and your family, Dr. Brannon. You are in our hearts and thoughts as you go through this difficult time.

Jimmy truly showed us all what a servant of Jesus looks like. I will always remember his response when asked "how are you Jimmy?" - "blessed" he would respond, "blessed". And that he was! - our love, prayers & sympathy go to Susan, Katie, Jeremy & your sweet family. Love, Janet, Andy, Drew, Olivia & Isabel Krantz

I will be on my knees before a holy God who can heal all pain on your behalf. I was and remain blessed because I knew Jimmy.
Jimmie was a true friend, a real prayer warrior and an immensely valued brother in Christ. I grieve for Susan and Katie but also for those of us who now must walk without his humor and example.
Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family Dr. Brannon. We love you.

My heart is broken. Jimmy Auvil was a great man. He was loved by so many. Susan, our prayers are with you. We love you and Katie, Jeremy and Jenny. We are so sorry.
Our prayers are with the Auvil family. Jimmy's servant heart and love for God are a blessed legacy.
Jimmy was a true friend to all those blessed to be his friend. He cared deeply about his family, his friends, and his industry. Jimmy worked countless hours on behalf of the Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors over the years. I always found him to be scrupulously honest and committed to the "golden rule" in his professional activities. My heart goes out to his family...we will miss this man!
