I will remember Don the day I left the reunion,he pulled beside me in the parking lot and told me to be careful on the road to South Carolina that he heard that there was a lot of old people out there trying to drive. Then he gave me that Don Blankship smile. He could always see the humor in everything. I will miss you Don.
This is another terrible lose in our family . Don was and will always be a great and wounderful man with the most loving family . I am so proud to have grown up with every one and be as close as we are . I will never forget all the times going to Aunt Thelmas and playing with John and Julie and going to the chicken house with Don and of course Don Franklin we have missed for so many years and now they all can watch over us and wait for us in heaven will miss you all but thank you for such wounderful memories . Love you John and Julie I am always here for you
Love u da always light a candle for u your Princess, see u someday soon,
You know Paw, I will always remember us sitting under that big shade in your yard, and you telling me about Big Frank when he was in his early years & teens. I will always cherish my memories of you. I will always love and miss you. So thankful for the 37 years I knew you. Kiss Frank for me & Maw Cora too.
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love - for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the ...stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
To all my cousins, aunts and uncles, we have lost a rose... He will FOREVER be remembered for the laughter and joy he brought to us all... I will NEVER forget him blessing the food at our family reunion just over 3 months ago... And of course, flirting with my girlfriend... R I P Uncle Don, thanks for the wonderful memories, thanks for ALL of the laughter... Man, just THANKS
Johnny, Julie, Patsy and all the rest of Paw Don's wonderful family: You continue to be in our prayers daily for peace and comfort during this difficult time. The strength and love that you have shown each other through this heartbreaking time has been a fitting tribute to the man that your father/grandfather was. May you continue to stay close and love and comfort one another knowing that your mother and father are together, at peace and watching over you all until the time that you meet them again in heaven.
With love, Lori, Gary and Will
