As a fellow Getty baseball shooter I would see J down in Spring Training. What a great guy and always fun to hang with. We shared many stories. I am so sorry for your loss.
Melissa I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I was so sad to hear the loss of "J" as I knew him as a fellow photographer covering local sports in the Tampa Bay area. I just heard and was shocked and saddened by his much too early passing. I never knew him more than through just casual conversation over a pregame meal before a game and during an event itself, but I find myself shaking my head over this. I knew he had kids and I grieve over what they must be going through by not seeing his terrific smile on a daily basis anymore and to not see their dad make great photos. He worked hard and certainly this makes it even more difficult to fathom. Again, so sorry for your loss as I'm sure everyone "J" touched has many fond memories. He will be hard not to think about at the next game I cover.
Melissa and Family - I have heard the term Celebration of Life, but never truly understood what it meant until last evening. The gathering was not a place of tears or sadness, instead it was full of smiles and fond memories. Working with J for the last 4 years gave me a little insight into the man he was, but last evening gave me a rare glimpse into his person life that as co-workers is rarely shared. I feel blessed to have been witness to the amazing love that was shared between J and his family and friends. I will never again hear Hotel California without thinking of J and all of you. It will forever put a smile on my face. Thank you for allowing me to celebrate J's life with all of you.
I am so sorry for your loss. J and I worked together in spring training for the Red Sox for many many years, and in past years he was my "tag team" photographer at the end of March. We would often chat about our daughters and compare notes on how they were growing up, their likes and dislikes. I will miss hearing his voice and seeing his smile — he was a true friend.
We are so sorry for your loss. J photographed many of our games during Spring Training over the years and was a pleasure to work with. He always had a smile on his face. We will miss him.
-Pam Ganley Kenn, Boston Red Sox

Sending my thoughts and prayers to J's family. We worked sidelines of the Bucs games together years ago, and he was a joy to work with. J was a light in this world taken away far too early.

Melissa We will always have fond memories of Jay taking photo's for our company events. His friendly smile always made us smile.
Melissa, I had the pleasure of photographing USF bball and fball games with J the last 4 years. He was always so helpful and quick with any advice for me as a new photographer. He's going to be missed by so many people. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.
Over recent years J and I have photographed a lot of the same sporting events, from USF basketball, football, Bucs, Rays, and others. It is a pretty small community of photographers that regularly cover games. J's passing has been a shock for everyone. His presence on the sidelines will be missed. My sincere condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with and editing photos for J. for the last 5+ years while on assignment for Getty Images. I always looked forward to working with him and I will miss him greatly! The passion he had when he talked about sports photography always reminded how lucky I am to get paid to look at Sports Photos for a living. The only thing that made J smile more then photography when we talked was when he talked about his wife and daughters! I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
I only have the fondest of memories of Jay from his work with First Physicians Group. My heart goes out to his family. He will be missed.

J was always a bright spot on the sidelines at USF games and photo-shooting the women's golf team. Melissa, our team appreciates J's work, commitment, and friendship. Thank you for sharing him with us. We wish you and your family well during this tough time.
-Marci Kornegay & the USF Women's Golf Team.
I worked with Jay for 15 years. It was obvious in everything he did, that he had love for the teams he was photographing. I could see the same love for his girls when he brought them with him to work, which was fun and often.
I aspire to a fraction of the same dedication to my family and job.
You will be missed at the Sun Dome, Jay.
All our love and prayers to your daughters and family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.
