We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Gollnitz Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

I Give To You, Your Son-
You held him as an infant; You hugged him as a boy
and through the years he has become your greatest pride and joy.

You love him more than you can say,
his life more precious than your own,
but gone are the whims and notions of the little boy that you had known.

For the years have passed so quickly since the time it all began
and now he stands before you with the conviction of a man.

He wants to serve his country, he states aloud with pride
as you try to sort out the emotions that you are feeling deep inside...

a union of the uncertain fear, which you cannot control
and the allegiance which lies deep within your patriotic soul.

You trust that your years of guidance will serve as a strong foundation
as he performs the duties requested from his beloved nation.

God please guide him as he travels to the places our soldiers have bled
and walk with him through pathways where those heroes' feet have tread.

Oh Sweet Land of Liberty, humbly you gave your son
praying you'll return him safely home when his work for you is done.
You raised a wonderful son to become a wonderful young man and father. No parent could be prouder than what you must be.

Love to all.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Jonathan will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

That your precious son volunteered to represent his family and his country, and stand up for those who could not stand, for those whose voice was silenced.... without trying, and without knowing, has been a hero and a guardian. To his family, his friends and his comrades, I thank you for this young stranger who has fought for my rights, not knowing how appreciative I am. My heart knows no words for you.
Saturday, October 06, 2012
I wish to extend to you and to members of your family my deepest sympathy on your loss. May the Lord's loving promises comfort you and give you strength as you walk through this difficult time. The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms, SGT Jonathan A. Gollnitz, U.S. Army. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jonathan. And to Jonathan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. Jonathan you gave the last full measure of devotion for what you believed in and fought for. No greater love and patriotism are shown than when a man lays down his life in service to his country. Jonathan, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jonathan's family and loved ones.

Nate was like my little brother. We served together on the USS John C Stennis, I watched him grow into an amazing man. I was there standing by his side at his wedding and also around to hang out with Lukas after he was born. We spent countless nights sitting around a fire telling stories and camping up in the Olympic mountains. Nate, I will miss you more than words can ever say. I love you with all of my heart and I look forward to seeing you again one day.
To his family, I am sorry. Words will never describe what I feel for you right now. He was a great man. He died doing what he loved and defending all of us back home. He knew we were all proud of him and that we all loved him very much.
My thoughts are with you right now.

We will forever remember your goofy personality, love for Lukas, and the many memories we made while you were with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family as they brave through this emotional time. We love you!

I never got to meet Jonathan, but I do know his son Lukas very well. When I would sit and talk with Lukas about his dad, he was always so proud of his daddy the hero. He would tell me great stories about all the fun things they did together, and about all his plans for when "my dad comes home." My heart and prayers go out at this time for the family.

The news is spread far and wide
Another comrade has sadly died
A sunset vigil upon the sand
As a soldier leaves this foreign land

We stand alone, and yet as one
In the fading light of a setting sun
We've all gathered to say goodbye
To our fallen comrade who's set to fly
