I'm so sad to hear about Joe, I just happened to come across this and I'm in shock. I remember Joe from high school, we had great times. Mrs. Appell, I remember how sweet you were, this must be so difficult. I'm so sorry.

I am having a hard time putting my thoughts to words. I can remember playing hockey and listening to music with Joe like it was yesterday...and every thought that comes to mind puts a smile on my face. Joe was a great guy and I will always remember him.

I always thought of Joseph as soft-spoken, kind and the sweetest person I ever knew. A lot like his mother. It is a shame that I only got to see him on holidays... he was always a joy

Our hearts ache for you, Joanne, Steve and Kristen, . Although looking at the pictures made me cry, I also had to smile at the sweet little boy that I remembered and I could recognize the older boy by the smile in his eyes. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To my neighbor and best friend growing up...Countless days were wasted racing our bigwheels, acting out battles with our GI Joe's, building forts in the woods, and trying not to get into too much trouble...Breezy Point wouldn't have been the same without you! Although we lost touch as we grew up and moved away, he was still always there in my memories. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and loved ones. -RH

Joanne, Steve, Kristen, I just received the devastating news. Ed and I know what it takes to deal with losing a child. And even so I don't know what words I could say that would help you right now. It takes such a long time to heal. Accept all the support you are offered. We knew Joey the kid not Joey the man. But I'm sure he was still the same funny loving person. We are so so sorry for your loss. Love and God Bless, Vickie and Ed
