Mr. Joseph C. Bennett, age 72, passed away early Tuesday at his residence. He was a native of Savannah and graduated from Jenkins High School. Mr. Bennett also graduated from Sub Marine School in New London, Connecticut and served six years in the United States Navy. He retired from the Savannah Airport after 28 years of service and was a member of the Wesley Oak United Methodist Church in Thunderbolt. Mr. Bennett enjoyed reading, watching football, and working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife of fifty four years, Sharon Starling Bennett of Statesboro; his children, Joseph Bennett, Jr. of Mobile, AL, Randy Bennett of Texas, Gerald Bennett of Statesboro, and Tammy (Michael) Hanson of Pooler; six grandchildren, Ryan Hudson, Kerry Bennett, Alex Bennett, Timothy Bennett, Ansley Bennett, and Morgan Sapp; one great grandchild, Jaelyn Garcia; one brother, Julius Bennett of Wilmington Island, GA; two sisters, Jean Lewis and Lois Rhiner, both of Savannah.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until 12:00 P.M. Thursday at Fairhaven Funeral Home- Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, 1:00 P.M. in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
