I did not get to ask you about that wonderful painting of your father. I liked it very much. It had a style almost reminiscent of John Singer Sargent in the softness of the palette and the representation of his features.
I'm very sorry to hear that your father passed away. My thoughts are with you and your family. Hope he is in a more peaceful place.
Even when you are expecting the loss, nothing can prepare you for that sad moment when that loved one is no longer there. Big hugs.
My heart goes out to you. This was unexpected, yet not unexpected at the older ages. I am so glad he did not suffer and that he had what sounds like a good life surrounded by people and children who loved him. It is so hard to lose parents. My mom died in '99 and I still find myself wanting to pick up the phone and call her when something good happens. We never really know how much we miss them.
Sorry to hear about your father. Treasure your memories of him. All our best.

I am so sad for you. My stepfather, whom I adored, died from ALS when I was in the ninth grade, after being ill for two years. I have never gotten over losing him. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you to face life without your father in it. I am so sorry. Wish there was something to somehow make it easier.
I am so sorry to hear about your father, Teresa. I know it is so hard for you, your mother and your whole family, and my heart goes out to you. It is a blessing that he was able to live independently for so long and that he died quickly. We'll be thinking of you.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. No matter how prepared we think we are, the passing of a family member or friend is a hard blow -- especially losing a parent.
My deepest sympathies. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
We understand your loss and would like to have our parents forever. Fortunately he spent a large number of those 88 years with you.

We really share your sorrow -- my father died a few months ago, just shy of his 93rd birthday. But it still hit hard. Sending wishes for your healing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. You were so lucky to have his wisdom and guidance close at hand for so long. I know that the pain is acute now, but hold on to the happy memories. They will keep you strong. You and your family are in my thoughts.
The funeral service was a wonderful tribute to your Dad's life. Hearing the story of how he played on the first football team for the U of H was awesome..what a legacy! I've enclosed a poem written by my husband's Aunt Sue. My hope is that this poem may soothe you as you deal with the grief of Mr. Hurst's death. I hope it may bring a smile to your face and gratitude for the time you had together.
When those we hold dear
Are no longer here,
And their physical presence
Their memories flood
And we know we are
The things they taught us
And the times we shared
Helped to make us
Who we are
And we carry their legacy
Whether near to them,
Their spirit binds us
For they're no more than
A thought away
And the love they gave
To give fragrance
To each day.

I am so sorry you lost Teresa's father. You never are prepared for that loss. My prayers are with you and your family. Take good care and know I love you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Though we all know this day is coming, it's difficult to prepare for and accept. I hope the following poem brings you some comfort:
"Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die."
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I remember him from our visit to Houston. He appeared to be a wonderful person and reminded me so much of Leo. I know this is a very difficult time for you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so sorry to hear about Joe's passing. He was a great gentleman. My late father did not play sports, but was a lifelong Cougar of that era -- attending on the GI Bill, as I suppose your dad did...likely saw your dad play. I lived on the campus from roughly zero to two years...they have shown me the pictures over time. I went through your picture gallery -- it was great and so represented the era he lived in. So sorry for your loss.
New York, Saw Mill River Motel -- we all met! East Brunswick, N.J. -- we lived across the street! Houston -- Joe and Bob fished and shrimped and we lived a good life. Lots of memories for your family and mine. Loving thoughts.
We are so sorry to hear about Uncle Joe's passing. We hope God will comfort you all in your hours of need. We loved him and all of you as well.
Keith and Jeannie
So sorry to hear about Joe. I really enjoyed meeting and visiting with him when we came to Houston. It sounds like he led a very interesting and fulfilling life. I'm sure this is a difficult time, but you have so many wonderful memories to look back on. I am certain what he enjoyed the most in his later years was all the time you spent with him, including your mini-trips to Galveston. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Mary Jane, Teresa and Laura -- My deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers to you and your loved ones.
