Dear Joan, This is such a beautiful tribute to Reed. I am sorry he had to return home so soon, but how wonderful that you shared a lifetime of memories. You are both just so wonderful...."E"
Christy, so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family. Rick was fondly reminiscing about Reed and some of their antics so many years ago.
I'm still in shock! I don't have to tell you how good a 'guy' "J". Reed was. I had the pleasure of meeting him, through Jim Nock, when we were in grade school at Blessed Sacrament (back in the 50's). I could go on for days with all the fun times and great things that we did and HE made them even better! I can still see and hear his jaunty laughter and the sparkle in Reed's eyes when he was talking or explaining something. His 'wings' will live on in infamy. I STILL have 'that garlic' that you gave me from that house. It comes up every year, in my garden. Guess I'll have 'garlic reed' to see and enjoy for years to come! Those wonderful times at the Fredericksberg house, watching the Cowboys and Skins games. The deck BBQ's and your wonderful Christmas 'cards' pictures of the river!!! Reed is one that WILL live on in our hearts, especially mine!
So sorry for your loss. He was such fun to be around . Thinking of you.

I am so sorry to hear of Reed's passing. I had the privilege of working with him at Ferry Farm. He was an inspiration - so wonderful with our students and always so positive. May God give you peace and comfort during this time. Peggy Scott (FFES, Stafford, VA)
I am so sorry for your loss. Reed would stop by Stafford County Public School's Student Services Dept. from time to time on business. Reed always had such a Big Infectious Smile that was only rivaled by the Twinkle in his Eyes. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I am so sorry for your loss. Reed worked at Drew Middle School in Stafford Virginia when we housed the visually impaired program. He was quite the gentleman and was an asset to that program. He brought joy to the school.
He was very well liked by all.
I am so very sorry to hear of Reed's passing. I was privileged to know him when I taught at Ferry Farm Elementary in Stafford. He was always so happy, so kind, so friendly, so gentlemanly--everyone loved him! He has left this world a better place because of all the good things he did ! My deepest sympathies.
A light has gone out in the world. Reed was one of the best people I have ever been privileged to know. Working with him and Joan was an amazing experience. Both of them gave all of themselves for every project they took on... and they took on everything! Dear Reed, may the good Lord bless and keep you until we meet again.
Joan, we will surely miss reed's smiling face as he talks of the "red high heels",
We were so fortunate to have been part of his life here in Stuart!
fondly, Janet & Greg Plitt
Joan, You and Reed took me in when I needed you. Your family has always been my family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this really hard time. I will aways think of Reed's loyalty and dedication to you, his friends and his family. He never lost his sense of humor and was a joy to hang out with. I will miss him.
Reed was an amazing man who loved life and helping others, he was a true inspiration. I am so sorry for this HUGE loss, he will be missed!
I am so sorry to learn of Reed's passing. It has been many years since we have communicated. Joan,Reed we go back to Plaza Claims days. Reed and Joan were a big part of the success of our Softball team as well as our claims department. He was a great trainer. Reed was always willing to help others. He had a great sense of humor even at the most trying times. He was a good friend to many. Joan I wish you and the family comfort. May God bless.
A shining light for everyone, Reed was one of the best I know. He gave without expecting and just filled a room with his wit and humor. No matter what he was doing, Reed found a way to be happy doing it and there was always a joy for life within him. Although I will miss him, I know without a doubt that God needed Reed more than we do and he called him home. Keep everything in working order Reed-till we meet again in heaven!!
He is my Uncle and has always had a fantastic sense of humor and he loved to make people smile! He was truly a good guy and he helped so many people! I have recently learned of things he did for people that no one ever knew about!
He was an example for us all to follow and he will be greatly missed by many!
See ya later Uncle Reed!! I love you!

Reed was always a pleasure to be around, he is missed.
Please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of Reed. He was truly a special man. Wishing you and your family comfort during this difficult time.
The world lost a generous, kind, funny, solidly good man. My thoughts and prayers go to Joan and family - he will be missed here and we know where he is now is in a good place. He will rest in peace with the Lord.
If you remember the old Sunday School song, "Brighten the Corner Where You Are," then you knew Reed! He brought so much joy and fun wherever he was because his outlook was upbeat. He was also such a truly nice person who saw the best in others. He accepted others for who they were, and they loved him in return. He, along with dear Joan, was the first to step up to help those in need. We will so greatly miss Reed but feel so privileged to have known him as a dear friend. Our first thoughts of him will always be of his ready and sunny smile and his vitality. Our sweetest thoughts prayers go out to Joan and family. May God bless you all.

Carol so sorry for your loss my deepest sympathies for your mom and your family
R.I.P Reed. So sad that the world has lost such a caring, nurturing individual. Deepest sympathy to all the family. Susan McFarland Palatka ,Fl
Today's Gospel reading (Mt. 5:38-48) states "should anyone press you into service for one mile, go for two miles. Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow". We thought of Reed immediately when hearing the reading. Reed and his wife Joan are two of the most generous, friendly, charismatic and totally wonderful people we've been blessed to know. The Friday night post-softball parties at the Smith home in the 1980s provided great memories that will last a lifetime. Reed was an exceptional person and will be missed by all of us who were graced to know him. Our prayers and condolences to Joan and her family.
Reed will be missed by so many, especially those in need. He was a person whose life was centered on friends, family, and helping others. We will miss his smile, warm heart, and charity.
