KATIE REALLY TOUCHED OUR LIVES I WAS SAD TO HEAR OF HER PASSING MY SON AND I LOVED KATIE
It's hard to believe a year has gone since Katie passed. It seems longer . Bless you dear heart; so many will always remember you and your love .
I feel very fortunate to have been Katie's friend. I started talking to Katie in 1987 when I handled the MDA accounts at JHH. We talked several times a week and always said lets get together and we could never get the time to meet so we were telephone friends until January 2000 when I started working in the Neurology clinic. I heard someone page her to the front desk and I called the front desk and asked if it was the Katie McGuire from the MDA and to send her to see me. We instantly became friends and would get together and talk for hours about family, friends, our jobs. She helped me through a very difficult time when my husband passed and I was able to help her when Dan passed. I will missed our time together , she was a very special person and she loved talking about her family. Katie you will be missed by everyone. Thank you for the wonderful memories.
In honor of Katie, a team for Baltimore's MDA 2014 muscle walk has been established . To donate to Team Katie go to
Katie had the amazing ability to be a close friend to thousands of people in hundreds of families all at the same time. She knew her campers and their parents by name. She knew the special situations that each of those families were dealing with throughout the year. She boosted every ones spirits with her energy, optimism and caring. She made each family and each camper feel like they were the most important people in the world to her. Very few people knew Katie's own burdens. But many of us heard her speak of her love for husband , children and grandchildren. I hope her children know how Katie struggled with how much time she took from her own family in order to help others. Katie was a saintly, beautiful person that will be missed by many.

I worked with Katie through MDA for many years as a REM Case Manager. What a lovely lady to know and work with. She did so much for so many kids and was such a blessing to many. I am so thankful to have known her and so sorry for your loss. She will be greatly missed. May beautiful memories sustain all of you.
I was fortunate enough to work with Katie at MDA and of course learned a tremendous amount from her about caring, supporting, and empowering the families we serve. Beyond the work, Katie had a tremendous personal impact as I witnessed how she loved and supported her family. That witness to unconditional love is a legacy that we all aspire to but few achieve. Katie you will be so missed by all that love you,but I know that many others that love you have already greeted you in heaven. Rest well
How blessed and privileged I am to have known such a remarkable, kind woman. Katie will continue to bless all of us through memories, and impact, she made on so many lives.
What a wonderful woman Katie was; we are so sorry to learn of her passing. We had the privilege of knowing her through our good friend Chad and MDA, and she was always smiling and laughing when we were together. Katie has provided many people with love and comfort, and we are sending the same back to her loved ones at this time. God Bless each of you.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Love you, Katie. Your life will continue to touch lives. Thank you for such Light.
Our youngest daughter, Alaina, was friends with Katie's daughter, Liz, when they went to Seven Oaks together. I got to know Katie as their friendship grew over the course of many sleepovers and birthday parties. We lost touch when our girls attended different schools, but I thought of her whenever I drove past their street on Joppa Road. Katie was such a lovely person with a kind and gentle heart. The world has lost a great lady, but her legacy lives on in the many people she touched throughout her life. Our deepest condolences to Casey and Liz, as well as the rest of her family.
My heart goes out to the entire family of Katie. I loved her company the minute I met her. Just wish we could have had her much longer. What a blessing she was. My deepest sympathy.
To Katie's family,
My heart goes out to all of you at this difficult time. Katie was a wonderful person and an inspiration to us all. I am grateful to have known her and the entire Lloyd family. Be assured that she is always with you in all of your memories. With love,
Katie was one of those rare human beings who really felt like an angel walking among us. She was a natural caregiver and a generous friend. I feel blessed to have known her and I am grateful to her family for sharing her with the rest of us. She did a great deal to hold us all together in the light. She will be greatly missed.
21 years ago Rich and I moved to 24 Perry Woods Ct. We loved Katie and Dan and were blessed to become part of their families. Katie will be dearly missed by my family and friends. We had become very close through out the many years being neighbors. We have many many memories and Katie will remain in our hearts forever. Rich and I will miss you dearly Katie! Loved the best neighbor in the world.
Our condolences on the loss of Aunt Katie. May she rest in peace and may we all take comfort in knowing she and Uncle Dan are once again together.
My deepest sympathy to Katie's family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our deepest condolences to Katie's family! She was the first person from the MDA to give us the support we needed in 2002 when our son was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. She stood by me at many school mtgs. in those first few years. She taught me how to advocate for my son in a knowledgeable and compassionate manner. She knew his name and was the best camp director ever!We are so grateful for our time with her and want you to know she was a blessing to many of the MDA families. And she is the reason that we are all still friends! I am saddened she is no longer with us here but I am happy to know that she will greet us when it's our turn to become an angel in Heaven. May you all find comfort knowing that we all loved her very much!
Katie McGuire is a household name in our family. She had an amazing ability to listen and cut through all the static to offer something unusually genuine. She had a delightful combination of humor, wisdom, insight, patience, observation, experiential knowledge, and empathy which always brought comfort, relief, and encouragement. Her bond with my Dad meant the world to him, visible by the compulsive smile on his face and sparkle in his eye whenever he thought of her (I'd ask what the heck he was gleaming about now and one of his staple replies was, "Katie!"). Her friendship went above and beyond ALS and, while I agree with Mom with being shocked and disheartened by the news, we are extremely grateful to have known Katie. She was one of the many threads from the MDA that stayed with my family for sooo many years, and there really aren't any words to describe how much she meant to us. She often spoke about her family -- fun stories, milestones -- and had so much love for everyone. My deepest and most sincere condolences to each of you.
Katie was a wonderful person .My husband and I knew her from MDA

I did not know your Katie, but from the wonderful pictures and the amazing things people said about her you were truly blessed in the time you had her. I am so sorry for your loss and everyone's of an angel who left too early.
Katie was both a dear friend and an invaluable helpmate. When I was with her my problems always lessened and each day became a time to celebrate and enjoy. My heart goes out to her daughters, her grandchildren, and her brothers who she so cherished. We will all deeply miss her kindness, enthusiasm and good will. May she rest in peace.
Katie was always there for all fo us she touched evryones life one way or another she was a wonderful friend and loved what she did for MDA & their families she will all ways be in our hearts. Love last forever and she will be deeply missed by all Love Shaon & John Pilkerton
Katie was such a wonderful person, she will be greatly missed. I am glad I had the opportunity to spend time with her a few weeks ago. Little did we know it would be the last time. God Bless.
Am shocked and saddened at the passing of Katie, who helped me and my husband Glenn via the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Assn.), as Glenn bravely dealt with his ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Katie was a shining light of assistance, fun times, support, humor and a great personal friend. The only cheerful thing about this is....We know Katie and Glenn are up there in heaven, enjoying great friendship and fun. Our thoughts are with Casey and Elizabeth & the entire family. Fondly, Fran Harwood in Crofton, Md.
My deepest condolences to Katie's beloved brothers and sister.
I had the privilege and honor of growing up with my cousin Katie.
She was always incredibily bright, very kind and had a wicked sense of humor, just like her beloved mother Mildred.
She was and is a shining star and will be missed by so many people; I never believed that "only the good die young" until now.
God bless everyone.
Our thoughts are with Katie's brother Michael and all the siblings and relatives and friends. Your friends Rod and Kevin
My deepest condolences to Katie's family. She was there for my family during a difficult time and really made things easier to deal with. My sons and I will always remember her with love.
I cannot say enough how wonderful Katie was.. She was surely an angel here on earth as she is now in Heaven. Prayers to the family of Katie at this very sad time. God Bless
Katie's goodness ,gentleness, her compassion and loving heart , these qualities , even in childhood, shined though and stood out. Katie's thoughts were always of others and how she could help. This was a great woman and a great soul . The only consolation is, Katie is now with her beloved Mother.
Rest in Peace Dear heart
One of my favorite memories are the times that Katie was strolling her grandson around the block. She would be absolutely glowing. Our conversations as grandmoms was ..priceless. She will be missed. Berlinda
Worked with this wonderful woman for many years. Always caring, loving and thoughtful of others. Grateful she was part of my professional work life, and a friend when I needed one. May God receive this mighty soldier of goodness and grace.
To Katie's family-she was a sweet lady - glad I got to know her. May her memory bring you peace in the days ahead. My sister & brother in law (Rose & Rich) adored her and will miss her dearly. Many thoughts & prayers to all of you.
Katie once spoke at my son's school. She spoke about understanding, knowledge and embracing the unknown. The boy asking the most questions was the very reason she was there. He was turned from a bully into a friend. Katie's legacy will be all that she was to everyone. I am so thankful for her presence in our lives. We could not have had the life we did without her. Derek and I will miss you terribly, Katie. We love you!
Words can't express the regret I feel for not staying in touch with this wonderful person who always had the right answers and knew just what to say. I worked with her for many years in the early days of my career and she taught me so much. To Casey, Elizabeth and families, I am truly sorry for your loss and hope you will find comfort in knowing the huge impact your mom had on us all.
Katie was a friend that contributed in many ways to make the life of our son
better. She was instrumental in preparing his schools for his special needs. She did this with her presence and knowledge of his disease. She supported our family with her kindness and would always go the extra mile. We will miss her warm smile and caring ways.
