Leone was a good man who did so much to make our community a better place to live. I am honored to know him from our work together on the Yakima Valley Community Foundation and to call him friend. We will miss him. May the angels welcome him to Paradise and comfort Willette, his children, and all who loved him.

Although I only met Mr. Cheatom for a very brief time during the last weeks of his life, I felt the influence he had on the people in his life. I am sorry I didn't get more of an opportunity to spend time with him. He seemed like an amazing man. I am sorry for your loss...

I was sad to hear of your loss Willette and family. Leone was an amazing individual who gave so much of his time and love to the Yakima Community. As a Yakima School Board Member, I enjoyed the time we worked together! I will treasure the fond memories of the time we spent together as Yakima School Board Members. I will never forget our plane rides, especially when the plane would fly through turbulence, he was such a gentleman. I will truly miss him! May God comfort you during this difficult time.

Leone, I knew you best when our years overlapped on the Yakima School Board. But whenever our paths crossed after that, most recently this summer at the Farmer's Market, we could engage endlessly about kids and learning. You lent your great heart, coaching (academic and athletic) talents, and problem solving mind to the community and made generous patriotic commitment to the nation. You are gone much too soon, but leaving heaps of fond memories for all. Willette and family, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss.
