EULOGY - “The Nan” Lucy Bunnell
If I were to wonder what would be the duties of an Angel on earth I would look to Nan's life for the answer.
She was God's love in action.
Lucy was proud to be one of many brothers and sisters; she could point out the qualities of a “Pond” at any given moment and then laugh at how happy that would make her feel.
The one lane road leading you to the top of “B” Lane pulsed with the sound of her music inviting you back over and over again.
As children young and old you could be there to do yard work or garden or play football or kickball or horseshoes or badminton or work on racecars or Cadillac's or swim or twirl or play guitar or play the spoons or have another cup of coffee.. But she was there for you. .
With a room full of people she had that uncanny ability of making each person feel like just maybe it was just you and her on that adventure. Always everyone's favorite and everyone's confidant.
An uplifting woman, she was a Master listener, wisely offering advice only when asked and not expecting you to take it; but mostly by letting you vent and when you were finished you would look up at her and there would be this smile and what you thought was big would dissipate in to thin air.
It is without a doubt she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren beyond measure. Always available to comfort, share and guide them and to make sure they learned to laugh and to love.
I think she had a golden duster to polish our hearts.
Because she loved to laugh she never tired of hearing exaggerated family history highlights over parmesan chicken dinners. Nan and Cindy teamed against the boys, while there was the near hanging of Robbie or the stories around the refrigerator on top of Buddy. Or when John was very little and he told their Dad she had a boyfriend – turns out it was Frankie Lane. How the menfolk plotted to name both Cindy's and the more recent beaters that got baked in the cake.
There is no way to put on paper the scope and breadth of love emanating from 35 “B” Lane but I'm sure the beacon of light that she is could be seen from an infinite distance and for those of us who knew her, well, you knew, by looking in to those crystal blue sparkling eyes that “The Nan” Lucy Bunnell lives strong in our hearts for a lifetime. Forever friends

Dear Cindy, and to all the Bunnell family, I am very sorry for the loss of your mom. I have been her hairdresser for the past 25 years and I always looked forward to her appointment. She was such a lady and always spoke of her children and grand and greatgrandchildren with such pride. Family was so important to her and she was certainly a wonderful role model and a true example of what a mother should be. I will truly miss her.
