Aunt Lydia was a true princess--noble, kind, generous and loving. The funeral service and the outpouring of love were a fitting tribute to this beautiful lady who made the best rice, beans and chicken in the whole cosmos. She joins Larissa and Scully in my morning prayers for health, strength, and abundance for all of our family and friends still on this side.
Rest in peace, our beautiful Aunt Lydia.

Grandma,
You are my heart, I cherish every moment I ever spent with you and I could never thank you enough for everything that you have done for me and my brothers. You raised me from when I was a little girl, so I see you as my mother as well as my grandmother. Everything I am today is because of you, and I will live the rest of my life and raise my son to make you proud. I am so greatful he had the chance to know you and be loved by you, that type of love is priceless. My heart has a huge hole in it now that your gone, but it also has so much warmth and love in it from all my memories with you. I hope you are with grandpa looking down on the amazing family the both of you created and I hope that you're both smiling and proud of all of us. We all love you and will miss you dearly. Love always and forever Natosha and your lil' munchkin Andre xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Aunt Lydia you were such a gentle person and being around you when I visited you and Uncle Carl was always fun. From an very early age of 7 or 8 (1949) I saw love and contentment between you and Uncle Carl, which is rare these days. Being in your home, as a child, I felt the warmth of your home especially during the Christmas holidays. I wish I could just re-enter that period of time so that we could relive and enjoy the times together: together with your children, my cousins, Carly, Vivian, Sandra, and Raymond. I remember Aunt Lydia always speaking in a gentle voice: she was loving, so very kind and never complained. She was never nasty to anyone. No wonder Uncle Carl adored her. She was not conceited, she was not competitive, and she was not a jealous woman. She was subtle, sophisticated, elegant and possessed an "old-world charm" that many woman wished they had then and today. So, then, I am saying that she was not a "modern" woman; but, she was a woman with style and grace that would make any woman envious. She was not insecure and knew who she was without any doubt. She didn't boast about herself nor her family. She was a down-to-earth woman (which are the qualities her children have, and that I love) and she held a lot of love for her husband, and children. When a woman like Aunt Lydia exists we are blessed because she has the ability to radiate peacefulness: yes there was always peace when I was with Aunt Lydia. I was fortunate she was my aunt because of her character and her manners. Some things stand out in my mind: 1) I remember the most was opening the presents and seeing the scattered Christmas wrapping paper all over the living room floor. I remember Raymond usually sitting on the couch away from the noise, Carly teasing and I am sure Sandra spreading joy while Vivian looked on. I remember my mother, Millie, my brother, Michael and my sister Olympia in their home and of course Aunt Liz, Uncle Tom, Anthony, Paul, Josie and Vinnie. 2) I remember Uncle Carl, always enjoyed teasing Aunt Lydia and she would just say, "oh Carl". 3) I remember Uncle Carl yelling at us (in a nice way) to not move when taking photos of us; 4) I remember how he loved her and how he enjoyed telling all of us how he met her in the Five & Ten (dime) Cent Store. I remember, while driving to the the funeral parlor on April 13, 2010, to see her, I put the radio on in my car to listen to the Jazz Station 88.3 FM. The station was paying tribute to Nat King Cole (the famous singer), and the first song I heard him singing... the words "I found my million dollar baby in the five and ten cents store". I got teary eyed and I said to myself, "well, Uncle Carl will find his baby again and he and dearest Aunt Lydia will be together again forever. Aunt Lydia, I love you for gracing this world with your dear, dear beautiful gentleness and peaceful manners. I will miss you too much and I want you to know I will always think of you and love you. Your niece Vivian Costagliola.

Dear Sandra, Carl, Vivien and Raymond,

Needless to say we were very saddened by your mom's passing. She was blessed however in having such a wonderful and loving family around her all the time. I would always marvel when Lucy would tell us that you would gather at her house for pasta every Sunday. It is a wonderful thing when families can gather on ordinary days just to be together. I know you will all miss that.

I also know that Lucy will miss your mom deeply. It was more than an aunt and niece relationship. They were sisters. They were best friends. This really hit her hard and I know that there is nothing anyone can say at a time like this to make it less painful. I loved hearing the Lydia stories that Lucy would tell...and tell...and tell!

You were very fortunate to live close to her and to be with her during her last days. A mother could ask for nothing more.

Please know that we mourn your loss as well and that we are thinking of you and praying for Lydia.

Much love,
Nicki and Jorge

My mother was the most beautiful person on the face of the earth. Her beauty went beyond her outer beauty. She was the kindest, sweetest soul. She gave her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren all her love and affection. Mom will be missed by us forever. When the Lord took her, he really took the best! I know that everyone that knew her would feel the same way about her. She never, ever had a bad thing to say about anyone and was always compassionate towards those in need. We love her dearly. Her daughter, Sandra
