So genuine, warm, compassionate and extremely funny. College football season is NOT the same without you. Love you to the moon and back. Jackie
This is so sad to hear of Mario's passing. I knew Mario and Julio during their training at MCO and St Vincent's. Mario was full of life and knew his calling in life. My sentiments and prayers go out to his family and extended family, notably his brother Julio.

I owe him soooo much. He saved my life. I had no health insurance and very little money. He didn't care. He said "Don't worry. I'll help you. We need to get you better." This world needs more like him. Thoughts and prayers to his family friends. God bless. Peace.
Saddened to learn of Mario's passing. Truly a privilege to have known him, learn from him, and have too much fun in the OR. My deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends. Mario was a really great guy and he will surely be missed by so many.
I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear today from a friend that Dr. Sanguily had passed away recently. He performed an emergency appendectomy on me just 6 months ago. Having never had surgery before, I was apprehensive, but every single one of the hospital staff that tended to me told me Dr. Sanguily was "the best!" I only had the pleasure of meeting him & briefly speaking with him once (the morning after the surgery when he came in to check on me), but I vividly remember his big smile, cheerful nature, and his wonderful sense of humor!
I wish to extend my deepest & most sincere condolences to Dr. Sanguily's family, and to all who knew & loved him. Our community has suffered a great loss. R.I.P. Dr. Sanguily, and thank you, sir, for your dedicated service.
Dr. Sanguily saved my life last September. I'm sorry I could not attend the viewing. I did go to the outdoor service which gave me some solace. Tell his wife and children they can be proud of a fantastic man he was. If I can ever be of assistance to them have them let me know. Bob Smallacombe (email@example.com.
So shocked to hear the news!! I worked with Mario as a fellow at St. Vincent in Toledo, Ohio. He was a great person and surgeon. I remember the blossoming relationship between he and Alicia. I'm so sad for his family's loss and my thoughts are with them all!!!
We learned just today of "Dr Mario's" passing. This was a true shock. Mario's cheerful disposition and expertise in surgery was unsurpassed as my bride has been cancer-free for seven years. Our heartfelt prayers are with "Dr Mario's" family and love ones.
We have known Mario since elementary school and graduated from Sebring High together. We just saw Mario at Sebring High 76-77 class reunion and he greeted all with a great big smile as always. Sounds like he lived life to the fullest and respected by so many in his profession. Our deepest condolences to his family.
Mario was truly one of a kind. He could light up a room and make every one laugh. A great surgoen and friend. He loved showing off his family and sharing stories. He was very compassionate. He would get teary eyed talking about Brianna going to college next year, he would tell me to enjoy every moment with my kids. I feel very lucky to have known him. He has inspired me to be to stop and enjoy life, to make every day brighter, for it is gone too fast. God bless you, Mario
I was compelled to write this message even though I never knew Dr. Mario Sanguily. My sister called me yesterday and told me go to this website to read Dr. Sanguily's obituary because he was the surgeon who operated on our mother back in late January 2004. Dr. Sanguily saved her life because the surgery was very risky and that my mother, in her mid-eighties, might not survive. She survived and lived until she was 90 years old. Reading the many tributes to Dr. Sanguily brought me to tears. You were a wonderful person and doctor. Peace to you and your family, and again thank you for your service to my mother.
Mario was doctor with a terrific personality and surgical skills to match. He had the highest regard for familly and always managed to find time to help others. He will be immensely missed.
Dr. Harvey and Nancy Ulano (Stuart, Fl)
It is with shock and great sadness I learned of Dr. Mario's passing today.
I will always remember his easy
manner and his quick reassuring
smile,as well as his easy going nature.
He will be sorely missed by all...I guess God needed another angel ...
I am John O. I live in Sacramento Ca. I was visiting Pt. St Lucie in 2005 and became very ill. Rushed to the hospital and required emergency surgery at 2:00AM. Mario was my Dr, he removed a cancerous tumor blocking my intestine. The next morning we spoke and he told me that my cancer was treatable. I am here today because Mario gave of himself for my life. Last night my wife and I were reading about the Dr. with tears streamind down our faces (as I am now), he is a hero and savior to many. Mario had his hands inside me and touched me and held me like a parent holding a new born, my life was in his hands, and he gave me life. I cherish Dr Mario, his family and friends and I will carry part of him with me throughout my life. Thank you Doc. until we meet again. With love and affection, John
I was lucky enough to meet Dr. Sanguily this past summer. It was my first time in a hospital, and I couldn't have been blessed with a more warm, caring, or lighthearted surgeon. Through the connection of our beloved college team, he gave my lonely, fearful mood courage and life. The news of his passing comes as a complete shock, and I know God is looking down on his family today. Sending lots of prayers your way, your loved one was an incredible man who touched so very many lives in his time with us.
I was so saddened to hear about the untimely passing of your dear Mario. He was always so full of life and loved each day. I know he will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Lynn Granata-Kerr, Toledo, Ohio

Dr. N. Subramanian
Mario was my cousin and as the only girl I was always trying to keep up with the Sanguily Boys in Florida. They taught me to waterski, fish and enjoy the sun.
As adults with families we got together and enjoyed boating and fishing and Mario was larger than life. It was so great to connect the 2 families.
Alicia, Brianna and Justin, your father was a wonderful, loving, caring man who was part of your life for far too little.
I pray and cry and try to understand why God felt he needed him now when so many of us loved him.
All my love.
Go GATOR.....in Peace. Your friend and colleague who will miss you dearly. Sonya Pease, MD
I was shocked to hear of Dr Mario
sudden passings.I have been a friend of Mario for many years.I cannot tell you how sorry,I am. Mario made the day when he came to 4E with Mark at his side.I will miss him dearly. Alicia,
Justin, Brianna, Dad Sanguily, J3,and
Family, My Sincere Condolences. Love!
I was a patient of Dr. Mario's and he was such a lovely person as well as an excellent surgeon. He took good care of me as I am sure that he did with all of his patients. I am very sad for his loss, but all of us whose lives that he touched are better for that experience.
Please accept my deepest sympathy. I had the honor of working with him in the OR at Martin. He always had a smile and a joke.
"His last words to me was that I was cured and that came with a huge hug. I can't stand this unbearable saddness. I just got home from a cruise to learn of this horrible news. Dear Doctor Mario, RIP and thank you for giving me life. I shall always love you." .
My sympathy goes out to the family. He was my surgeon 5 years ago and he saved my life. He was an angel to me. I will miss his understanding and caring of my medical needs very much. Wallace Frank.
What an amazing tribute to a great man last night. The great photos and words that flowed from Mario's family, friends and associates at Martin Memorial were amazing and inspiring.
We were blessed to have built our home in 2004 next door to the Sanguily family in Windstone. I loved it when Mario would see me in the driveway or cutting the grass and shout a "HEY BIG AL". We became good friends with Mario and Alicia while our daughters Jacqueline and Natalie played tirelessly with Brianna and Justin. I had the pleasure of playing golf with Mario and Mark DiCarlo at The Floridian several times and going out on the In Situ a couple of times. Great memories I will cherish.
Our daughter, Jacqueline, who we lost in 2008, had health issues and Dr. Mario was always there for us in times of need. Mario always calmed her nerves and made her feel safe. She always said Dr. Mario was her favorite (of a long list of doctors). We will so miss his friendship, his kind, sensitive ways and his gift of laughter. I will miss you my friend. Thanks for the gift of being your friend and for teaching us all to live life more fully, to laugh and to love and to greet everyone with a smile!!
A person's life is not measured by longevity but rather the wake they leave behind. Mario's wake was huge. I like to think Mario's heart gave out because he shared a part of it with all of us.
I worked at the hospital a number of years ago and got to know Dr Mario. His kindness and humor rubbed off on everyone he met. He will be missed.
As I approached the location of the Memorial yesterday, I felt distraught and overwhelmed with the enormity of our loss. As I departed after the wonderful Memorial, I felt better and more confident that "by example" Dr. Mario Sanguily has shown all of us how an extra moment of kindness and caring can cause a huge impact in those we meet in our daily life. I was inspired by the strength and words shared by the family. It was a special touch when Mrs. Sanguily shared the notes written in the family Christmas cards from him. As a result of his passing, I resolve to not only "enjoy my life", but to be a better person by following his clear example and lesson on "how to do it". To sum up his life, I think one words says it all: "OTHERS"!
I was so shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Dr. Sanguily. Having relocated to SLW ER I hadn't seen him in a while, but did have the pleasure of speaking with him occasionally on the phone if he was consulted for surgery. He was always so pleasant, cheerful and had a way of just making you smile. He will be dearly missed. God Bless and may peace be with you during this difficult time.
Dr. Sanguily, thank you for reminding us everyday of the most important things we need to know in our lives:
Live loud, love all, fish adventurously, and GO GATORS!!!
Thank god for you! You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
My sympathy is sincerely offered to the entire Sanguily family.
Lew Cook, MD
Alicia,Brianna and Justin, I am devasted to have heard this sad news, my prayers are with you. Papa I remember when Mario came to MMMC, while working in PACU, we could see the huge grin and pride on your face under your surgical mask. The same when J3 came. What a family! So much love and joy. Henry, Mrs Sanguilly, I can't say how sorry I am. Mario, you also gave my father many years pain free after the fem-pop in 1996. Please find my dad, he's most likely fishing, and go for that evasive marlin! Peace to you with love.
Dr. Sanguily was so proud of the lecture he did for the Empower support group in 2011 to an audience of approx 135 people. His humor and ability to educate was remarkable. He will be remembered and missed by every one of those 135 people, most only knowing him for that one evening. Once you met Dr. Sanguily you remembered him with a smile.
Last night I attended the Memorial Service for my friend Dr Mario Sanguily. I was awestruck by the attendance - well over 2000, There was not a dry eye in the house and truly showed the kind of man Mario was and will be in our hearts forever. I was truly honored when Alicia, his widow, mentioned my name during the service. I would always say when in the islands "it's another beautiful day in paradise" regardless of the weather or any other condition and they remembered that. WOW. Then a deep felt hug by Alicia, Justin and Brianna made my night. Mario Sanguily may be gone but will never be forgotten. RIP my fishing buddy .......FISH ON!!!
Worked with Dr. Mario in PSL ER and PACU for years. Every moment was a joy. He was always smiling, filling the room with an unspoken grace. What a tragic loss, not only to the world of medicine, but to humanity itself. We should all let Mario Sanguily be an example of how we should embrace life. My prayers and thoughts are with his wife, children, parents and brothers, and all those who were fortunate to have had him touch our lives. May the blessings be.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Sanguily family during this sad time. Dr. Mario was a great doctor and human being who we both enjoyed working with. You will truly be missed by all.
Dr. Sanguily left an indelible mark on Martin County. He was a great doctor who had an amazing sense of compassion for his patient and their family. Prayers and well wishes for the Sanguily Family.
My heartfelt sympathy is extended to the entire Sanguily Family.
Our hearts are heavy at the news of your loss. May you find comfort and peace in each other . Our thoughts are with you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this terrible time. Mario was a wonderful person and a dedicated physician.
Justin, thinking about you and your family, sorry for your loss.
I had the honor of having Dr. Sanguily be my surgeon in Nov. 2011 and he was the kindest, caring, compassionate funny doctor I have ever met.I was scared and he made me feel that everything was gonna be ok. I went for my post-op in early December and he was so funny,we talked about are kids and our very strange similair cats. I thank him for saving my life!
The medical field has lost a GREAT doctor.. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family..
We were so saddened to hear of Mario's death. He was a blessing to his family, the medical community and the rest of our Treasure Coast community. We will all miss him. Our prayers are with all of you.

Steve Lofton M.D
I had the great pleasure of working with Dr. Mario for many years at SLMC and I am so sad to see this bright light dim with his passing. He was always in a good mood, even when he "pretended" to be mad about something and had a smile for everyone. Whether he was talking (or showing us pictures) of his family, fishing trips or food, he had the same great enthusiasm for life every, single day! When Emeril became popular, we'd talk more about cooking than anything else and when I had the opportunity to go to a book signing by Emeril Lagasse in Vero Beach, I made sure to get him a signed copy. My last memory of him was at the Key Lime Cafe where I bumped in to he and his wife at lunch and I got my last, big, teddy bear hug from this great man who touched the lives of so many who were just that lucky!
So unexpected. My prayers go out to his family and friends. I remember his big teddy bear appearance and how he always made people laugh. He will be sorely missed.
Lucy Schelmety-Henriquez, Port St. Lucie, Florida
i have had the greatest privilage to work with dr. mario. i will keep thoughts of some of his attributes the rest of my life.
if you love someone, tell them

our office will never be the same.
Dear Alicia, Brianna and Justin, Today you celebrate the life of a wonderful husband and dad. Hold in your hearts always what a great joy he was and how he made everyone elses life that he touched better. I know the pain you are feeling and although we can't understand why things happen when they do I want you to know that you are not alone. Bob always thought the world of Mario and loved any opportunity that they could get together. One of the best days of Bob's life was out on your boat deep sea fishing. That day was a gift we both treasured and I thank you for that. Let's hope that Mario and Bob are together now fishing and having the time of their lives. My love to all of you.
To a hell of a fisherman and a great friend

My deepest sympathy and prayers to the family of Dr. Mario. I recently had surgery and was lucky to have the priveledge of Dr. Sanguily being my surgeon. He was a compassionate, wonderful man. He reassured me and made me feel at ease since this was my first time having surgery . At my post-op visit he told me to "get back at it and enjoy life". Thanks so much for sharing such a wonderful gifted man with our community. He will be missed, but I am sure God has a great plan for a man like Dr.Sanguily....
Til we meet again...
May God hold you in the palm of His hand....
My deepest sympathy to his family. I was a patient of his many years ago and he insisted I call him Dr. Mario on my very first visit. He took great care of me throughout the years for various issues even when I had no insurance. He told me not to worry about it, and I never saw a bill. When my 4 year old son needed a surgeon, I insisted he see him. Since then I have become a nurse, and can honestly say he was one of the few doctors I have met that truly was about patient care. I even saw him in the hospital many years later and he recognized me and asked about both me and my son. Our community has not only lost a great doctor, but a wonderful person. I hope his family can find peace in knowing how many lives he touched and how many smiles he put on many many faces. He will be greatly missed.
"Every day is a gift", the way we should all try to live our lives. Dr. Mario had a special way of doing that everyday. He was a wonderful and skilled surgeon, but most importantly, a man who adored his family. Praying for all of you at this difficult time. Be assured Heaven has a new angel watching over you.
Dear Alicia, Brianna and Justin, Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. It was evident far before this past week that you were everything to your dad. Mario ALWAYS spoke of the three of you with every conversation we had. He was the one person you wanted to see because he always lifted your spirits or made you laugh. Jeremy said he knows Mario is negotiating with God right now to send Florida a better quarterback....WE WILL ALL MISS HIM DEARLY.
My deepest condolences go out to all family and friends. I am honored to have had the pleasure of working with Mario. He showed us all how to live life to the fullest. Always with a smile, and such compassion for every individual. He will be greatly missed by all in the Angio department.
My deepest sympathy to the Sanguily family in this tragic loss of Dr. Mario whom I had the privilege to work with at Martin Memorial.
I was shocked to hear the bad news...a life tragically ended so early. A friend, colleague and a role model family man gone.
Mario was always first with a genuine, warm greeting. Always upbeat and smiling. Always eager to help with a mutual patient. Always boasting about his beloved wife and children. Always enthused to trade fishing info. Always will he be remembered fondly. Always will he be missed.
My deepest condolences to Alicia, Brianna, Justin, Julio, Lily, Julio III and Henry.
Dr Mario saved by Dads life by doing his carotid surgery. I had the privalege to scrub with him at the SLSC when he was with SLMC. What a wonderful surgeon and person. Always fun to scrub with. Will miss you. Carol Stebbins CST at SLSC.
I first met Dr.Sanguily in February of 2011. Since I was having surgery he could see I was very nervous. He made me very comfortable and I knew I was in good hands. Needless to say, the surgery went very well. He seemed to be a very caring physician. I was very saddened to read of his passing. My prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
Edith Unger, Port St. Lucie, FL
Dear Mario, Thank you very much for all you have taught me! It was a great honor to work with you. I am glad I was able to work with you on your last case, as we jammed to Lenard Skynard, and you praised your wife and kids. You are a great surgeon and even better man. My thoughts and prayers for your wife and children.
A good man died and my heart is bruised, "Mario the Magnificent" is what I called him, always an advocate for the patient and the nurses...never a harsh word, always willing to listen and then accommodate the need. He was a gentle soul and we all knew it... now gone from sight but not memory. It is so hard to grasp, a blink of the eye and all is gone, but not lost. So as the new year starts we have the power to perpetuate his spirit and memory. Keep him in your heart as I do mine. Love saves his place in our hearts forever.
With deepest condolences to the family that he loved so much…
Dr.Sanguily did a lot of good during his life; which so unfortunately was cut short. He was a wonderful human being who cared for many. He always beamed goodness, happiness and care towards all. He will be deeply missed by his entire Martin family.
I'm so sorry to hear about Dr. Mario's passing. It's so heartwarming to read all these beautiful posts about what a wonderful Dr. and person he was. I worked with Mario at St. Vincents in Toledo and always felt he was one of the most compassionate and competent physicians. I have many good memories of his great sense of humor and how he made everyone feel at ease even in the most stressful situations.
My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and co-workers.
Dr. Sanguily was a wonderful colleague. He was confident without being arrogant. He just seemed to enjoy each day. He was always the one who never said no when you asked him for help. The medical community has lost a great physician. My prayers go out to his family at this time of loss.
Truly a diamond in the ruff. Dr Mario was a wonderful person. I had the priviledge of working with him during my 3 years at Martin. I was also blessed that his skilled hands saved the life of my Son on December 29th. Gone but never ever forgotten.
Dr. Mario Sanguily--a Great Man--a Great Surgeon. He will be sadly missed by all of his Martin Memorial Family.

My deepest gratitude to a wonderful doctor who saved my life one day in July,2008. I will forever be thankful for his surgical skills and most of all the caring he showed a total stranger who appeared in the ER when he was the surgeon on duty. Thanks Dr. Sanguilly for giving me a new lease on life. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Karen Cole
Dr. Sanguily was what all doctors should strive to be. I will never forget the kindness he showed to my father, my mother, and the rest of my family during a very difficult time. My deepest sympathies to his family. He was a remarkable human being.
So sad for the loss of your wonderful husband and father. I worked with him and he was such a wonderul man. So sad we had to lose him so young but he definately impacted many people with his caring and kind ways. Dr. Mario you will be missed and remembered!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all!
God Bless you Dr. Mario and may you rest in peace; my prayers and thoughts are for your family and children...I will never forget working with you at SLMC and you calling me "Gator Bait"!...you always had a smile on your face and love and zeal in your heart. You will be forever missed.
Mario was so special that his smile and love of life were so palpable that you felt better just saying hello to him in the morning. His kindness extended from the casual passing in the doctor's lounge to taking time to be interrupted and talk to me about a complicated patient. He was willing to help one of my patient's that no one else wanted to see, because he was genuinely concerned. Time after time patients commented on how carng and compassionate he was with them. I will always remember him smiling and joking and talking about going to have fun in the Bahamas. He remains a role model as a fine doctor and a happy, life-loving person.
My sincerest sympathies to his family.
My sincerest condolences to the entire Sanguily family. Dr. Mario was held in the highest esteem not only by me but many in his community...personally and professionally. His presence will truly be missed by all those fortunate to have known him. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Sanguily family. May God Bless All Of You.
There are no words that can properly express our feelings for the loss of Mario to His family. Please accept these simple words. Mario was a gentleman, a talented surgeon, and an all round nice person. Our community has also experienced a tremendous loss with his passing. He will be remembered for the countless good things he accomplished.
For more than two decades, I had the distinct honor and privilege of working with Mario as a fellow surgeon. I'll never forget in the mid-1980s, his father Dr. Julio proudly introduced him to me as the newest addition to the medical staff. Immediately, Mario's unique infectious grin and jovial manner shown through from the beginning. I knew in Mario we not only had a talented, superbly trained physician, but a truly empathic doctor who could relate to each and every patient as if he were family himself.
Mario's kind, gentle, and joking bedside manner would be emulated by many, but never totally duplicated, as Mario set the standard for what we all seek in a physician. It is truly edifying to see that as an FSU Professor, he was a role model and mentor for many medical students. As a consultant in the O.R., Mario was always able to lend his special surgical expertise in helping others through many challenging cases. His help can never be totally repaid.
No one could ever tell a Bobby Bowden joke like Mario……..the most likable Gator anyone has ever met! We'll never forget the laughter, the fishing stories, and the great times. The Martin Memorial Community, its medical staff members, and patients have lost a physician flagship. To his family, Alicia, Brianna, Justin, Julio Jr., Julio III, and Lily, our most heartfelt condolences. Mario, we will miss you, my dear friend!
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them. Mario, you will never be forgotten!! In memory of how you lit up every room with your genuine smile and laughter, at 6 p.m. the nurses at Martin Memorial Hospital will be lighting candles at your service in memory of you. Please whoever reads this bring a candle for you and others to light. SKIPPY
Alicia and family,

My wife Terry and I wish to offer our deepest condolenses to Dr. Sanguily's family. No words can express the sense of loss so many feel by his passing.
God Bless and comfort the family in this time of loss.
Dr. Mario, an angel who passed through my life at a very difficult time making it tolerable with his kind and compassionate words and of course, his wisdom in saving lives...he saved my son's life. I am forever grateful. He was an angel then and is an angel now...rest in peace Dr. Mario and watch over all of us as I know you will.....you will be truly missed.
I owe my life to the skill of Dr. Sanguily. When I went to see him for a post-operative visit last September, he told me that I was healing myself and to keep up the good work. He smiled and told me he would see me again in 6 months. He was truly a good man and a great healer.
Bob Smallacombe Hobe Sound, FL
My deepest sympathies go out to the Sanguily family. I was blessed to have Dr. Mario perform my surgery on December 29 and discharge me from the hospital on the 30th. May God hold his family close during this difficult time.

He'd walk through the ER each morning on his way to start his day, always with a grin and a wave. That's how I'll remember him... smiling.

Dr. Sanguily, even though my surgery was minor, you did leave an impact on my life. You had such a fun loving way with people. you didnt even mind when i mispronounced your name and called you dr. spaghetti! You were goofy and made me laugh, Which is very important for a 6 year old undergoing surgery for the first time. You were blessed with such a kindness and caring for other people that makes you loved by so many. I know you'll keep a close eye on all of us from heaven. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. You really were the best Dr. Spaghetti.
May God bless and take care of Mario, my friend. I will always have the fondest memories of you and carry everlasting respect for you Mario. May your family and many friends find comfort in sharing in your short but remarkable life.

A Man I will always remember. One of the kindest people I ever had the pleasure to work with and a great loss to everyone who knew him. My prayers go out to the entire Sanguily family.
Dr. Sanguily truly made a difference in my life when needed most. No person wants to find themselves in need of surgery..especially "babies" such as I! He was kind, patient and understanding and provided utmost care. I am very thankful for Dr. Sanguily. Our prayers are with the Sanguily family during this season. God bless each of you.
My thoughts and prayers to his family. Dr. Mario was a wonderful man. He took very good care of my husband Lester when he became ill. Heaven now has another angel. Dr. Mario and Lester are up in Heaven talking about who caught the bigger fish.
I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Mario at the hospital for many years. I never saw him be anything but gracious and kind to everyone he worked with. Not only was he my daughter's employer, he was a friend to our family. When my brother, who was visiting, had an accident, Dr. Mario came in from fishing to take over his care. He was always there for his friends,co-workers, patients and family. He will be greatly missed by many. Our sympathy goes out to the entire Sanguily family.
You are in our thoughts and prayers. We were so sorry to hear of Mario's passing.
What a pleasure it always was to run into Mario and Alicia on soccer and lacrosse fields around town as we watched our daughters play sports. What joy Mario took in being a father, spending time with his family and watching his children on the field. Our hearts go out to you Alicia, Brianna and Justin and to the entire Sanguily Family. Fondly, Debbie, Chad and Rachele
Henry, my deepest sympathies to you and your family for this tragic loss. I think of you often.
We have all lost a great friend and the world has lost a great man my thoughts and prayers are with family
Mario will always be remembered with fondness and respect. My heartfelt sympathy is extended to the entire Sanguily Family. May God Bless and keep you close during this sad time.
Dr. Sanguily was not only a fine surgeon, but a wonderful human being! Like me, he was born and raised in Cuba, and for me, he was a true compatriot. He cared for me in the hospital, both physically and psychologically, when I was very, very ill and I owe my life to his care. He will be very missed.
I could not have hoped for a better mentor or dearer friend. Mario helped shaped the physician I have come to be and I hope to be half the physician he was. He was always so inspiring and devoted. He truly had a zest for life, always with a smile on his face. I speak for myself and all the students he has had a chance to inspire, he will truly be missed.
Please accept our sincere sympathy. Through the grace of God, Dr. Mario was on call when I needed emergency treatment. He saved my life. We are extremely grateful.
What a SHOCK this has been. My thoughts and prayers are with the Sanguily family during this time of great sadness. May God comfort you all
Dr Mario was a great man and his smiley face and jokes are going to be greatly missed. RIP

My deepest sympathy to the entire Sanguilly family on the loss of Mario.
He was a dedicated surgeon and a true gentleman. I was privledged to work with Mario at Martin.
Dr. Mario, you teach us in death as you did in life. Life is brief, enjoy the day, be kind to each other. Like so many others, I seem to remember the first time I met Dr. Mario. That memory is of a large man with a big smile, a person that radiated with a love of life and people. The community mourns and our hearts go out to family and friends.
My heart , prayers, and deepest condolensces I wish for the Sanguily family for the Loss of their loved one Mario.
He was a consummate professional, caring human being and always filled the room with joy when he entered it. As a fellow Cuban American physician he exemplified the American dream. Work hard, live life to the fullest and love with all of your heart.
I will miss you dearly, my friend.
Dr.Mario Sanquily's sense of humour always made the nurses smile...to see him walk off the elevator, always with a smile on his face,a kind man. He is a "favorite"..
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I had the honor of working with Mario at Martin and then in his office for over 8 years. He was one of the best men I have ever known. He was generous, funny, a skilled and compassionate physician, and a human being of unequal kindness. I will always remember when he called the office, you would answer and he would be singing some crazy song at the top of his lungs, all you could do was sit and laugh and wait for him to finish.
I was still working in his office when I had my twins...on the day they were born, he (unexpectedly) busted through the O.R. doors, in an entrance only Mario could make, arms up in the air, big grin on his face and shouted...."I'm here for the delivery...can I stay?"...and he did. He had heart bigger than life itself and was always there for support for everyone he knew. In over 19 years of knowing him, I never knew of a single person who didn't love him dearly.
To Alicia, Brianna, and Justin....my heartfelt sympathies go out to you, the loves of his life. His face always beamed when he spoke of you. He will be missed so much by so many.
He did a very difficult procedure on me,and I will always be gratefull to him and his staff.RIP
I only met Dr. Mario three weeks ago, but I knew instantly that he was a kind wonderful man who cared deeply for all his patients. He performed surgery on me two weeks ago and while I was at the hospital the staff were all saying I had the greatest doctor, they all loved him and I saw why, he told me before I went under that it was going to be ok, and he was right! I never got to thank him. Thanks Doc . You will be missed .My condolences to the entire family and to Drs Staff
4 months ago I met this Doc in surgery as he and his team saved my life! Now he is gone?! I Thank you Doc Mario to have had your hands touch my life. You will forever be talked about!
Our hearts are with the Sanguily family. He saved my mother's life in an emergency surgery and made our entire family comfortable and secure that she would be okay. He took so much time with us to answer every question we had and did it with such compassion. This is surely as loss for the entire community.
God Bless Mario's wife, kids and his precious parents & brothers.....ya'll are in my prayers.
Mario was an inspiration to his colleagues, friends and patients. He was always kind, gentle, compassionate, and had the rare quality of being able to rise above even his own problems. His smile was warm and genuine and after you spent time in his company, you knew you had been in the presence of an important and singular person. His loss will be felt by all who knew him and by those who never did, but read the outpouring of grief from those of us priveleged to have worked with and been befriended by this man.
Sid Swartz, M.D.
It has been a blessing and a privilege to know and work with "Dr. Mario". This kind, generous man with a heart of gold and a personality that always had you smiling will be so missed! Martin will never be the same without you and I am a better nurse because of you! Hope to see you again someday!
Brianna and Justin, My thoughts and prayers have been with you these past few days. I'm always here if you need me.
Love you both.
Mario had a contagious smile that warmed everyone. He took care of my daughter not once but twice. He also came to see me at the ER after he had left for the day and did surgery on myself just a short 3 weeks ago. He's a great guy and he will be missed by all. Love to the family.
There are many heavy hearts in the community right now, especially at Martin Health Systems. To have known him was such an honor. To be his patient was to be fortunate. To love him was to be blessed!
Our hearts and prayers go out to the Sanguily family for you have lost a great soul too early in life. You will be missed by many...
My sincere sympathy to your family, he was truly one of a kind. I had the privilege of knowing him thru the Cancer Conferences I held at Martin Health Systems. He was always so willing to help in presenting cases for me and just a delight to know. I will truly miss him and his smile and also feel privileged to have had the opportunity to know such a wonderful and kind person.

Dr. Mario, you were the essence of Martin Memorial and the essence of what a family man should be. I will miss your presence in the nurses station, especially on Sunday mornings during football season. I enjoyed defending the Gators and Tebow with you! You taught me how to be a better nurse, and the true meaning of compassion. Thank you Dr. Mario for giving all of us memories to live by.
Having known Dr. Mario Sanguily was a priviledge and honor. So many lives have been touched by him and his magnetic ways. He will be remembered in our medical family as a leader, a coach, a teacher, a father, a husband, a great surgeon, but most of all, OUR friend. My deepest sympathy to the entire Sanguily family.
My deepest condolences to the Sanguily family. Knowing and working with Mario was an honor and privilege. He was a gentleman always. His confident, compassionate and positive nature was appreciated by all those lives that he touched. He will be missed

It's not often someone touches your life in a profound way, but I am lucky enough to say that Mario was just such a person. I can't honestly say I ever remember a day when he didn't have a joke to tell, a smile on his face or some encouraging predictions about his Gators. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Dear Alicia, Brianna and Justin,
Our hearts are heavy as we send our deepest condolences. We have such fond PBU memories of Mario and your family. May God wrap you in His loving arms and carry you during this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Jimmac, BA and Jillian
Though my professional relationship was remote as Dr, Mario partnered in the care of many residents at PCNR, recently promoting a "limb saving" initiative in LTC, my respect and admiration for the kind, caring, empathetic, compationate approach demonstrated by this professional impacts my vision of how we must persue our profession. His patients trusted him and peers respected him. Thank you for your influence on our profession. N. Henderson, RN-C/CDONA PCNR.
We ,who shared patients and some fun time could not appreciate a better man and I cry with his family for such an untimely and tragic loss. I treasure the time we played Tequesta CC together a few summers ago. Your Dad and husband was the best .Sincerely,Rick Dube and GG
My sincere condolences are extended to the entire Sanguily family. He demonstrated his expertise, compassion to his patients, and love for his family on daily basis. I feel extremely honored to have made his acquaintance and he will be surely missed by all, but never forgotten.

What a hole you leave in the heart of many. You weren't the only one to call me "Tex" but you were the one who said it the loudest!!! I haven't seen you for years but coming back to Martin and seeing you again was like never leaving. Your kindness, professionalism, skill, love of life and your family never waivered. I am saddened by your passing and pray for your family. May they know how much you loved them.
Dr. Sanguily was my attending for general surgery my 3rd year and 4th yr of medical school- he was awesome! he loved his career and almost convinced me to follow in his footsteps. he was always encouraging, took every opportunity to teach and made work fun! we talked often about boating, the bahamas, and his family. he loved his family so much! we often bantered about seminole vs gator football- i don't think he ever wore the fsu scrub cap we gave him. i am so sorry for your loss, he was a wonderful man and teacher. he will be missed greatly.
Remembering Mario...Three loves!
Launching into the Operating Room, comical and lighthearted, always with recent updates on family fun and brand new photos of Justin and Brianna. He loved his family fun trips.
FSU Medical Students...always nonthreatening as he taught each of them with patience and humor. God Bless You Mario for making the operating room fun when situations allowed.
Lastly, your "GATORS". The ultimate fan. Will Muschamp must have secretly recruited you to help coach those GATORS without letting the rest of us know.
Mario loved his wife and family, they were his life. Your hearty laughter will truly be missed in the halls of the Martin Memorial Operating Rooms!

Words cannot express how very special Dr. Sanguily was to everyone who knew him. Kind, funny, and a great doctor. His love for his family and for life showed in his words and actions every day. He will truly be missed. Rest in Peace Dr. Mario...
May the lord comfort you at this time of need
Mario's passing is a tragic loss to his family, his friends, our medical staff and our community. He was a wonderful physician and an amazing individual who's smile, laugh and caring ways made a difference in the lives of all who knew him. It was a joy to watch him ; whether coaching powder puff, photographing Brianna before prom, teaching Medical students, caring for patients or talking about the Gators; few had his joy and zest for life and his special ability to always make those around him feel better. Our hearts and prayers are with the Sanguily family. Mario will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
the best fishin bud I ever had the pleasure to know, even if I did have to start Mario's boat with a rope.always had a smile on his face.God bless his family, keep on going sign pirate Grant Samuels ( Stuart Fla.)
What a loss, first to his family and then to the rest of us. I worked with Mario at SLMC both in ICU and later in PACU. He was the consummate professional with a twist...unfailing good spirits. He was a caring and compassionate doctor, concerned with the whole patient and not just his "incision". He always had time for families. A wonderful teacher, it was never too much trouble to help us understand what was happening with a patient.
He was hugely proud of his family. It was such a pleasure to see his joy in them.
Mario taught me how to eat tuna. I always thought it was born in a can, until he brought me some fresh that he had caught, complete with his receipe to prepare it. Needless to say, it was wonderful.
My thoughts go out to his parents, Alicia and the children and his brothers.
Alicia, Brianna and Justin
I can't imagine the pain you are feeling in your hearts. I am so very sorry for your loss. You know Mario talked about his family all the time and was very proud. Mario to know you was to love you. You were always smiling and you had a infectious sense of humor. You were so kind and compassionate and one heck of a surgeon. It was an honor to work with you. Our community has suffered the loss of a great man, husband and father. God Bless your family who you obviously adored my thoughts and prayers are with the whole Sanguily family and his office staff you truly love him. Mario I hope you are showing Jesus how to fish. May you RIP.

The first time I met Dr. Sanguily was at the doctor's lounge at Martin Memorial. I was just a lowly third year medical student, stuffing my face like some half starved hamster. There were 16 medical students packed into the small lounge during lunch time and a lot of other doctors were grumbling under their breath about our suddden invasion. Instead of hanging out with the "real doctors", or getting irritated with us taking up all the tables, Dr. Sanguily plunked down next to me with a big smile on his face and welcomed us all to Stuart. His perpetual jolly nature always warmed my heart when we chatted at lunch. Sometimes we'd talk about fishing in the Bahamas, or about how my current rotations were going. Even though I wasn't his student, he still took the time to reach out and say hello during my two years at Martin. That really means a lot to a lowly medical student.
I was blessed to have Mario as my surgeon a year and a half ago when I went through a near death experience. I know that Dr. Mario Sanguily is the main reason that I am still here today, and to that i will never forget him. I was hospitalized for nearly two months, and Mario would come in several times a day to my hospital room just to visit and make sure everything was ok. He even went as far as calling the hospital to make sure i was ok when he went away on a family vacation out of the country. Never have I ever met a man with such a big heart and so much compassion and hope to give. Some people may say that he was just doing his job, but my family and I know that he went above and beyond what any other doctor would have done. I will always remember you Mario Sanguily as my hero. Til this day I thank God that you were my Doctor. To the Sanguily family, I am truly sorry on your loss, Mario was an amazing man all around. Dr. Sanguily, may you rest in peace and look down upon your family each and everyday to make sure they're ok. God Bless
Dr Mario as he was called was a very gracious, friendly human being who respected everyone (pt staff, always smiling even under stressful situations. He will be greatly missed. To his family may God gently wrap you all in his armsand comfort you.
You were a dear friend through the years...I have fond memories from our school days and beyond. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I will miss your friendship.
Words seem inadequate to express the sadness felt. You were such a blessing to everyone and I learn so much from working with you. May the comfort of God help Alicia and the kids during this difficult time.
Dr. Mario was a pleasure to work with and I am deeply saddened by the loss. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I had the true pleasure of meeting Dr. Mario as many others have, in a time of medical need. I was never even concerned about my upcoming major surgery the moment I was introduce to him. He was a true gentleman and had the best way about him, even when things seemed crazy in the office he was just Mario. I speak as though I knew him for years, and that is just the kind of person he was in my eyes. I feel blessed to have been a recipient of his wonderful work, I am sorry for his passing. My sympathy to his family, friends and co-workers who have all been touch by such a unique man.
Mario was an very kind and funny man. I happened to meet his wife first and helped her with her fitness goals, than I had the pleasure of training Mario at the gym. He was always entertaining and made me laugh. I am very sad and my heart and prayers go out to his family at this very tough time.
Dr. Mario was loved by so many. He was truly one of the greatest men, teachers & surgeons anyone could ever hope to meet. He cared so much for his colleagues and patients, but no one more than he cared for his wife and children. Alicia, Justin & Brianna, he was the most proud of you. Although its hard to see through your sorrow, may you look back on your memories of him and let it comfort you in your tomorrows. I feel so blessed to have known you Mario and I will forever miss hearing you call me "Gatorbait" and I calling you "Dawgfood"! I hope you are busting a move and singing in heaven! My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Sanguily family. RIP Mario!
Mario, I will miss your warm friendly smile and your hearty laugh...always ready to tell a joke.
You brought joy to all you touched and will be missed.

In 1969, the Sanguily family moved to Edgewater Drive in Sebring, Florida, just down the street from me. I was a junior in high school and I was a babysitter for the boys. Although they won't remember me, I remember Mario and his brothers as full of life, fun and joy. It makes me happy to know Mario continued life in that way giving so much to so many. My prayers are with his family and close friends.
Mario was my friend, my colleague, my confidant. I loved him like a brother and always will. The loss touches me deep into my soul. He was a gracious, kind, cheerful and loving person. He cared for his family, his friends, his patients and anyone he came in contact with. He will be missed by so many.Thank you Lord for allowing each and every one of us privilege of knowing this amazing man. Descansa en paz mi hermano....
Dr. Sanguily was a great mentor to me during my time as a medical student at FSU. Every day as his student was a treat. His greatest success as an attending was how he taught by example. From his relationships with his patients to his respect for colleagues, every day I strive to follow his lead. He was a roll model in all aspects of his life. He taught me that you can be a great physician and have a great family. His passion for life was infectious. He will be greatly missed and always have a place in my heart. My greatest sympathies to his beautiful family.
He will be missed, he was one of THE BEST surgeon I have ever met. he was always kind and loving to everyone. He was greatly admired as a physician and as a person also well respected by everyone that new him.
My deepest sympathy to hes family.
Mary J Gomez (Port St Lucie, Fl )
I got to know Mario at St Lucie Medical Center when I worked as an xray tech in the OR. He was a pleasure to work with. Mario always had a smile and treated the nurses and techs with respect and kindness. It has been a number of years since I have seen Mario, but when I saw his obituary I cried. He was a gentle, kind man and I will always remember him with affection.
Janet Hewitt, RT
My sincere condolences to the Sanguily family. Dr. Mario was not only a great surgeon, but a kind and funny man. He will be greatly missed. May God bless you all in this time of sorrow.
I was privileged to know Mario for 24 years, and this is truly a heartbreaker. He was a saint, a
Man among men, a father, a husband, a brother, a son, a doctor, and a mentor. We are truly sorry for your loss.
John Fernandez MD Esq
Dr. Mario was a kind, fun, friendly person and I am going to miss our talks about Cuba and our great-grandfathers. And the last time a few of us girls saw him in Medical Records we danced to Pitbull. Thanks for all the laughs!! My condolences to Dr. Mario's family.
I was happy to work with Dr Sanguily, Jr., Dr Julio III, and Dr Mario while they practiced at St Lucie Medical Center. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Sanguily family during this difficult time. Dr Mario help to care for my mother Betty Keating, and for this I will always be grateful. He is in heaven with her now.
I am saddened by the fact that I will never get to work with Mario again, as he was so awesome to everyone that he worked with. But, I have also lost a friend and will miss him terribly. We have only lived in Palm City for 5 years, but met the Sanguily family early on from our boys playing travel soccer. Even though they originally were on opposing teams, Jon and Justin are now back on the same soccer team--both on high school and in travel soccer. I loved how animated Mario could get at some of the games, and it is so evident how important it was to him to support Justin in soccer, or to support Brianna in soccer and Lacrosse.
Mario, you have made a huge impact on my son Jon and he has been deeply impacted by your passing. He truly respected and admired you. When he got back from spending some time in the Bahamas with you this summer, he would play Zach Brown band and Kenny Chesney songs on his iPhone in the car and tell me that it reminded him of you on the docks in the Bahamas. Thanks for spending time with him and talking to him about his dream of pursuing pre-med in college--what a great role model you are. I am only sorry that he never got to take you up on your offer of following you around at work one day.
Alicia and Brianna, my thoughts are with you and you know that I am here if you need anything!! Justin, thanks for being such a great friend to Jon and I'm glad he can be there for you right now during this time.
Thinking of all of you at this time...............
Always friendly and funny as heck. He will be missed by patients and co-workers alike.
"My heartfelt thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Alicia, Brianna and Justin. The Sanguily family gives back so much to the community. Mario will be greatly missed."
My most sincere condolences go out to the Sanguily family. I will miss his constant smile!
I worked as a radiologist at Martin Memorial for over 20 years, most of them overlapping with Mario.
He was an All-Star.
He was kInd, patient, courteous, a joy to work with, and a great physician to his many patients, as the previous 25 or so pages of tribute attest !
Heaven has gained a great man, just too many years too soon...
My sincerest condolences to all of your immediate and extended family.
Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of such a great man & surgeon. We came to know Mario when we reached out to the community for medical supplies to be brought to the victims of Katrina in 2005. He took action and gave us access to such a windfall of supplies that we were nearly overwhelmed. We maintained a business/personal relationship over the years and Mario has always been compassionate, genuine and kind. As owners of a medical equipment supply company we had the opportunity to supply him with specialty spring-loaded crutches that he had read about after leg surgery, he brought them back snapped in half so the next day we delivered a power wheelchair to his office .... he immediatly took off in it, he didn't need instruction and successfully mowed over some of his staff, his desk and a file cabinet! Who knows what else while we weren't watching! I guess he did everything BIG! Such a funny guy. Such a loss to his family, and this community. We pray that God's peace will surround the Sanguily family and give them comfort in the knowledge that He welcomed him home with His loving arms. "Good night sweet prince, and flight of angels sing thee to thy rest."

Alicia & Family,
My heartfelt condolences to you, trust in the Lord to help you through this very difficult time. Mario and Alicia are very dear people, they went out of their way for our father when he was ill, and drove all the way to other coast of Florida to help him, I have never forgotten this! I knew then that Mario was an EXCEPTIONAL Dr. and family man. May you rest in peace.
Mario was a truly happy and fun person to know and be around. He always lit the place up with laughter. I can't imagine the loss of such a great man to a family and community he cherished. We have all lost a fun, kind and caring person. My thoughts are with all of his friends and family.
To me Dr. S will never be gone. He gave me my life back this past Nov 11th. Every time I see my scooter covered with dust because of non use, or my cane which is in my car`s trunk because I no longer need it, I will think of Dr S. Every pain free step I take, I think of Dr. S. Every birthday I have which is Feb 3rd, I will think of doctor S as Feb 3rd was his birthday also. I am so happy that at my last appointment I had with Dr S. I was able thank him for gift of being able to walk again. I will never forget you Dr S.
I want to extend my condolences to Dr. S`s family. RIP Dr S.
My deepest and sincerest sympathies to the Sanguily family. Mario was a joy to work with and will truly be missed.
Our Family's thoughts and prayers goes out to the Sanguily Family. First met Mario when we both attended Woodlawn Elementary/Sebring. You were always such a friendly and caring person. As an accomplished Surgeon, you saved my brother-in-law's life. You will be missed by all.
A neighbor, friend and colleague who's passing is beyond words. Perhaps the most up beat and happy surgeon I have ever come across. My heart goes to Alicia, Justin and Brianna and their loss. You all need to know Mario was a very good surgeon , but an even better physician in the truest sense of the word.
Dr.Mario Sanguily was the type of doctor that had a vivacious spirit/ great laugh/ loved to kid and joke around! There is no doubt in my mind that Dr. Mario left behind a legacy and wealth of knowledge to his students. Always a dedicated physician, teacher (he loved to teach), and boasting Father! We love you and miss you... God bless his family in their time of need.
There so much to say about our friend, Mario. I have had the privilege to know him and his beautiful family since I was a kid myself. I first knew him as the doc down the street that mom works with. Then it was Dr. Mario, moms friend that lives down the street. By the time I was a teenager, he was just Mario, my mom's friend that I babysit for every now and then with the two cute kids Brianna and Justin. For the past five years, I have been his colleague and finally MY friend, not just my moms. I always secretly loved it when he would tell everyone that he was lucky that I turned out to be a better nurse than a babysitter! He was so mad at me and upset that he didn't get to do my own surprise appy because he was out fishing. He said he would have dropped it all and came home, and you know I really believe he would have. He was that good of a friend. There is so much to miss about my favorite doctor... And he is my favorite... That I just can't put it all down. That man started and ended each day with a song and a smile that would change your life- even for just a day. Alicia, Brianna, and Justin- I'm so sorry for you loss. I hope you know he will alway be alive in the halls at Martin every time "apple bottom jeans" comes on or anything Bob Marley. We all miss you, Doctor Mario.
No words can express my sadness at the loss of one of the finest surgeons I have ever worked with. For 20 years I have known and worked with Dr. Mario. He was always smiling, laughing, singing and dancing. "Apple Bottom Jeans" will always make me think of you, Mario. You had so much love in you for Alicia, Brianna and Justin. It was so evident every day. My life was enriched knowing you. I miss you.
Thank you for all you have given me these last 20 years.
I only knew Dr. Sanguily a brief time. He was taking care of my father. When we talked baseball, his eyes would light up like he was a young kid again. I think he loved the game. My thoughts and prayers to the Sanguily family and office staff at Martin Memorial in your time of grief.
Alicia, Briana and Justin,
We can't begin to imagine the pain you are feeling. We are so sorry for your loss.
Mario was always a breath of fresh air with his never ending sense of humor, a surgeon without a God complex. He will be missed by so many. We consider ourselves fortunate to have had the priviledge to work with him.
Our community has suffered the loss of a great man, husband, father, physician and friend.
Expressing our condolences to the entire Sanguily family just doesn't like enough. Please know (and I am sure that you do) that you were always near and dear to his heart; his main topic of conversation.
Karen Grien and Henry Calas, MD
Mario was the kind of man that made you feel like you were a better person for having known him. His humor and joy of life shown through in everything he did. I can still see him watching the satellite images of a hurricane bearing down on his location in the Bahamas and singing "should we stay or should we go". Our thoughts are with Mario and his family.
Dear Mario,Dear Friend,
To know you was to love you! Thanks for the wonderful memories. To the entire Sanguilly family, may the love of friends and family
help you thru this sad time.

Our deepest sympathies.
My most sincere condolences to the Sanguily Family and my Martin Memorial Family. Dr. Mario was truly an angel on earth ~ placed here to help those in need of his surgical expertise or his infectious sense of humor. He taught us all how to spread kindness and compassion even in the most difficult situations. He was truly an advocate for his patients and for nurses. May we all in health care aspire to his level of care and compassion. I am deeply saddened by his passing but we all will be enriched by all the wonderful special memories of his nicknames, comical antics, and friendship over the years!
Our most sincere condolences, may the Lord guide you during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sanguily family.
Dr. and Ms. Juan Carlos Pelaez
My heart goes out to all of the Sanguily family both at home and the office. Mario filled so many shoes: doctor, boss, co-worker, friend, GATOR, brother, son, husband and father. You never doubted what Mario loved and you never had to guess if he was happy...two of his most endearing qualities.
You will be missed.......
A great and caring surgeon who will be sadly missed - our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.
We met Dr. Sanguily a few months ago. He was my Dad's surgeon and upon our first meeting we found him to be kind and compassionate - very easy going with a great smile and pleasant manner. He will be missed by all who knew him. His family are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
i knew mario his senior yr at sebring high school. he was respected then as he is now. always seemed a calm, caring individual. knew his parents who were also very well respected in our community. prayers being lifted for his family, friends and coworkers.

When I heard the news on Friday night, I just couldn't believe it!! This incredible man will be missed by many in our community. My heart goes out to his family. It was an honor to have worked with you. Rest In Eternal Peace
As a colleague, he was greatly respected and admired by the medical community. I will never forget his compassion, his kind spirit and the big smile he would give to every single person around him. He will certainly be missed. My condolences to the entire family.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
My favorite Floridian at Floridian! I will always smile when I think of you and your beautiful family.
god bless the sanguily's. martin memorial lost a very respected surgeon, he was loved by his patient's, physicians and nurses like myself. I will miss you Mario and god bless your family that you so obviously adored. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with you over the last 15 years!
I have known Mario and his family for years. I am still in utter shock. He always had a smile and was such a gentle man who always saw the good in every one and every thing. Among other things, his passion was his family and fishing where I knew him best. Not long ago he and his family were enjoying the islands as they did for many years and we shared fishing stories with that big smile of his. God must have needed an angel and a fisherman extraordinaire - now he has one in Mario. Grand Cay and fishing will never be the same nor will our community. His bedside manner was one for the books as was his awareness of the world around him and being the kind of father he was to his children and a husband to his awesome wife. RIP Mario!!!! Fish On!!!
I remember after i graduated nursing school and was about to start working night shift as a new rn, the first thing Dr. Mario said was, (as serious as he could) "don't call me until the aorta is cross clamped," he saw the fear in my eyes, then burst out laughing. He always knew how to make us laugh. Always cool, calm and collected under stressful situations. He had the best bedside manner with his patients. Always talking about his family, showing us videos and pics from his family vacations. I will always remember you walking by sicu and saying, "Sashaaaaaa." Always singing and dancing. The last couple days at work have not been the same and it never will. I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to work with you. My deepest condolences to your family.
You left us too early. We will miss you more than you know.
I had the distinct honor of coaching Mario's high school football team at Sebring High School. Mario was a well respected leader on and off the field.
Many lives have been enriched as a result of their association with Mario. My deepest sympathies go out to his family.
My condolences to Dr. Sanguily's family. I was always very impressed with his dedication, skills, and professionalism with the patients and staff. He will be missed by all of us in the medical profession. Should I have needed any surgery, I would have requested him as my physician.
P. Scott RN
Thank you Dr. Mario for all that you taught me about vascular ultrasonography...may your family find some peace in knowing how much of yourself you left behind.
What an honor it has been to work with such an extremely skilled surgeon who had a bedside manner that was next to none! This community has lost one of the best surgeons ever to set foot in this county. He was so well liked by all who knew him.
My sincere sympathy goes out to the entire family for your loss.
It broke our hearts when you left SLMC... Occasionaly, I'd see you in the hall... You'd always give me a big hug and smile, and you never forgot my name... You were one of the few, trully gifted surgeons... Our world was better for having known you... I had never heard you say a bad thing about anyone... Once again, our hearts are broken..And, you will never grace our halls again... God's speed Mario... Go get your Big Fish... We will never stop loving you...... Nor, will we forget you............
I met Dr. Sanguily 18years ago when he
operated on my husband and saved his life. He took time out of his busy schedule to call me at home. I will always remember his words. He said I know you think your husband will die, but come to the hospital this afternoon and I promise you, he will be sitting up in a chair reading. He was right. His words will be with me always. Rest in peace and God Bless
you and your family.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Sanguily family. It has truly been an honor and privilege to work with a guy like Mario. I will always respect the way he cared for his patients and treated everyone around him, but I will always cherish my many memories of him as a friend the most. I can not remember a time when Mario was not smiling, laughing or trying to dance. I will miss you forever my friend!
Dr I will always miss your humor and happy personality, the OR will never be the same. I can still remember your jokes and you are probably in heaven now cracking jokes with St. pete.- samir (x-ray)
I had the good fortune of working in St. Lucie Medical Center's OR with Dr. Sanguily when I first moved to Florida and was quickly brought up to speed on how important the Gators are! Besides being an excellent surgeon, he was just a great guy to be around and made everyone in the OR feel appreciated. My sympathy for his family, and may he rest in peace, fishing rod close by.
I also went to school with Mario from 5th grade until we graduated in 1976 from Sebring High. I was going to get on here and tell you all what a wonderful person he was, but I see you all already know. RIP, Mario! Terri Meyer Nicholson, Tallahassee, Fl
Mario attended the Sebring High Class of '76 and ''77 reunion in October and it was soooo wonderful to see him and catch up. After 35 years Mario's smile still lit up the room! So many of us from Sebring are so sad for his family's loss and the loss of a great friend and classmate.
I had the opportunity to play golf my neighbor Dr. Mario and he always displayed a warm, sincere and easy way about him. A true gentlemen and accomplished man who loved his family. He will be missed by many.
My sincere sympathies to Alicia, Brianna and Justin.
Mario was just a big teddybear. Every time he came to the surgery center I got a big hug..boy will he be missed. Thoughts and prayers to his entire family. Rest in peace Mario.
It was such a privelege to know you for the brief time that I did.Your love for your family so evident and the ability you had to make each of feel special was truly a gift to all who came in contact with you . I will miss your music and your singing it brightened our PACU daily. Hope you get to take your new boom box with you . I will remember your voice singing " Sweet Home Alabama all summer long ". You will be missed in the PACU !!
The world has lost a wonderful man, friend, father, husband, surgeon, and most of all person. Dr. Mario always lightened up the room when he walked in and was such a compassionate person to every single person around him.
Dr. Mario you will always be missed, never to be forgotten, and forever in the hearts of many! My heart felt condolences to his wife and children.
I worked with Mario at the beginning of my career and was immediately impressed by his good nature and friendliness. I remember my surprise at his ability to do the most intricate surgical procedures with those big hands. I had the privilege of helping to bring Brianna into the world by placing Alicia's epidural catheter to relieve her labor pain. I remember the joy in Mario's face anticipating his child's birth. Now, my youngest son, Steven, is friends with Brianna at school.
Every professional and personal interaction with Mario was a pleasant one.
I am shocked and saddened by Mario's loss and would like his family to know they are in the thoughts and prayers of the Glener family.
It has been a great privilege to know and work with such a wonderful individual. Dr Mario was an incredible surgeon and friend. I remember our last conversation was us joking around and picking on each other. He was such a fun person to be around, always made everyone smile and laugh. He had such a kind spirit, he made everyone feel special and appreciated. I will never forget him dancing to "Apple bottom jeans" in the nurse's station everytime his phone rang. I hope he knew he was my favorite, Im pretty sure I told him that a time or two. I was also grateful to him for taking such good care of my husband when he had to have surgery recently.
To the Sanguily family, words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. We all loved him dearly and hope that you find comfort in knowing that he truly impacted so many lives and will live on in our hearts forever.
To a Great surgeon and a wonderful human being. I will miss him singing the "Amy" song to me, coming down the hall.

My condolences to the Sanguily family. Mario was a true gentleman, wonderful family man, tremendous surgeon, and good friend. I have great memories of our times together in residency, especially on the golf course. I'm sure he is in a place where the fairways are lush, the waters calm, and the rum limitless. Godspeed, Marlo. You will be missed.
Alicia, Brianna and Justin so sorry for your loss. Dr Mario was one of a kind.
Alicia, Brianna and Justin, we are so sorry for your loss. Life is to short. My memories of Mario will be throwing a football to Justine during halftime of Brianna's PBU soccer games. He always had a big smile on his face and was such fun to be around. I consider myself lucky to have met such a wonderful person.
Dr. Mario will be missed. I had the pleasure of working with him in the operating room at St.Lucie Medical Center for several years. He was a gifted surgeon and a joy to be around. Memories of his laughter and humor will stay with us. Many lives were touched by him and he will not be forgotten. My heartfelt sympathy to his family.
A loss to the community. He was an outstanding person and a surgeon. Had an amazing smile and treated his patients with kindness and respect and had positive approach to his practice, his patients, his colleagues, and his community. I extend my condolences to his family.
This is a great loss for our community and for me personally. Mario was a compassionate physician who was well loved by everyone who encountered him. He maintained a positive perspective under the most difficult circumstances. The medical staff at Martin will miss him tremendously.
God has taken another angel from us, he will be missed by so many...my heart and prayers go out to his family, i will always remember his smile passing him in the hallways at the hospital while i worked there back in the 1990's. Rest in peace Dr. Sanguily you are truely one of the kindest surgeons i have ever known and you will never be forgotten....
May God Bless the Sanguily family in this time of loss, allowing the warmth of loving memories to quickly replace your grief. Your entire family has served our community with such passion for decades-we grieve with you.
I'm in excellent company, posting along with many who've had the distinct honor & privilege of working with Mario, as well as being his patient. Excellent surgeon, always took the time to stop & do the right thing. It's not like he had to think about it - it's who he was. Never hesitated. Gentle, calm, respectful, kind, caring...a source of strength for patients and families in difficult times. A truly incredibly, wonderful human being - goodgoodgood to the core. I will always remember him walking in to the PACU, singing whatever song was on his mind..that he'd just heard, his ringtones, his Gator talk, him and Mark joking around. Even more, I will remember how much respect and admiration I have (will always have) for him when he spoke of his wife & kids. He lit up even more when he spoke of them.
My heart goes out to all of the Sanguily family, my deepest sympathies.
I remeber the first time I met Mario in the E.R.. I called him Dr. Sanguily, he looked me square in the eye & said,(My name is Mario, if you ever call me Dr. again, I'll whoop up on ya'. by the way, do you like to fish?) I knew right then & there that he was a regular guy like the rest of us. I always felt as though I could talk to him about anything, & I did. There is a huge hole missing in our world that will never be filled. They broke the mold after he was made. GO GATORS brother!
Love ya' Philonious \lll/
I am very sad to hear about Dr.Mario Sanguily. I was a patient of his starting in July 2011..He saved my life and although I had many follow up appoitments he ALWAYS made me know I was going to get well and encouraged me
Our prayers & thoughts go out to Dr. Sanguily's family.

We are so surprised and saddened to hear of Mario's passing. He was a kind and gifted surgeon and a wonderful husband and father. He will be missed by many. Our prayers are with Alicia and his children during this most difficult time.
To my buddy Mario. I felt a piece of my heart leave and go with you when we heard that awful, unbelievable news. No, not Mario. I have had the honor to work with Mario since he started at Martin Memorial. Through the years, our friendship grew stronger. I got to know Alicia, Brianna and Justin. Their's was a family that was so strong and full of love. Mario, I will miss you for the rest of my live, and to Alicia and the kids, please know that you were always first and foremost to him. He loved you all deeply and was immensly proud of you. God speed Mario. Hasta que nos volvamos.
I have worked with Mario for years, had many laughs, collaborated on patient care, and of course, when I needed surgery he is the first one I thought of. During my follow up visit, he asked me if being a patient would change the way I cared for my patients.....it has. Rest in God's loving arms, Mario, and prayers to your earthly family.
Mario will be so missed by friends, colleagues and patients. You were a star among surgeons. Terrie Hoban RN, (Port St. Lucie)
No words can express our grief about Dr. Mario's passing. I have known him since our days in residency in Toledo, Ohio. Eileen and I send our heartfelt condolences to Alicia, Brianna, Justin, Julio Jr., Lilly, Julio III and Henry. Mario was a man of love, for his family, his patient's and his colleagues. Affectionate father and husband, Mario was devoted to his wife and children. Every time we met in the hospital he would flash a photo of his kids with a big fish and was beaming with pride when talking about them. He was a commensurate professional and talented surgeon. He enriched all our lives by his skill, spirit and dedication. My God comfort Alicia in her time of loss and sustain Brianna and Justin.

We have lost a person with a great heart and a lot of generosity to which I am very grateful for his care and treatment of my mother and his patience to instruct my students. Dr. Sanguily's happiness reflected in the operating room and everyday made it more enjoyable to work.
We always remember Dr. Mario Sanguily
Surgical Tech preceptor.
I will never forget all the wonderful times we shared together during our residency days in Toledo. The entire Sanguily family is in my prayers, I am so sorry to hear of Mario's death.
I just found out this morning that Mario, who was my first cousin had passed away. Unfortunately our families didn't stay in touch as often as we should of and it's not until someone you love is gone that you realize how precious life is. Our families spent time together on the boat several years ago and it was so easy to see what a loving family man he was and also how dedicated to his patients he was. It makes me so sad to imagine what Alicia and the kids are going through right now, no words can express my sadness. I'll never forget you Mario, Alicia my love and prayer's to you and the kids.
Our hearts and thoughts are with the entire Sanguily family at this time. Mario will always be remembered by the thousands of people that he touched in our community over the years.

Dear Mario, My friend, you will be missed. I feel very lucky to be able to call you my FRIEND. All of our time together was spent at your special hideout, Rosie's Place in Grand Cay Bahamas. Trust me my friend, there will never be a day that passes on the Docks of Grand Cay that we will not see your smilimg face looking back at us on our boat. Alicia, Brianna and Justin know that I am just a phone call away and that I am here for them. So rest softly my friend, I will miss the warm hugs we shared every time we met. I love you my friend.
On a warm summer night at a soccer field in Jensen Beach, I waited to drive my niece home after practice. A big shadow plunked down next to me with a sigh. It was Mario, still in scrubs. We talked about how family was important, but it wasn't long until we were making so much noise laughing the coach told us to pipe down!
Just so tragic that someone who embraced life was taken so early. My life is better for having known Mario. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
The entire Barletta family sends their sincere condolence. Dr Mario was a true gentlemen and a respected physician n our community. He will be sorely missed but not forgotten. Our prayers and thoughts are with his wife Alicia and his children during this most difficult of times.

My sincere condolences to Dr. Mario's wife, children & family! Iam very sad for all of you. I have worked with him for many years. He always came in with a smile, happy & joking around. No matter what, he always made our day! It was clear, though, by the way he spoke so proudly of his family, that he had his priorites in order. He was a wonderful surgeon, a respected man, and a credit to his profession. All of you are sad, I know. You should be very proud of the man he was. He was unique, loved & he will be missed. I know I will miss his smiling face. God bless you. My thoughts & prayers are with you. Kathy Benoit RN South Pacu

Dr. Sanguily saved my life with his gental hands in surgury I know there are many people that feel the same way, he also was a good friend to all he met Rest in piece my friend.
My husband and I were saddened and shocked to hear of Dr Mario's passing. Dr Mario Sanguily was an excellent surgeon; great personality; positive and encouraging; and overall a great person. He has been my husband's surgeon for five procedures. The last for recurrent colon cancer and I remember his words to us that he was going to go in and remove the tumor for once and for all. We left his office uplifted and positive. We loved Dr. Mario Sanguily. What a lose to the medical profession and our community.
My mother worked for Dr. Mario as well as the Dr. Julio Sr. and Dr. Julio Jr. almost 9 years ago. They were incredible to her. She loved them immensly. She got cancer and they accomadated her schedule with her treatment. She, even when very sick, wanted to go to work. She loved the patients and the doctors. Dr. Mario was always very loving and caring to her as well as myself when she passed away from the cancer. I will always hold him and his brother and the rest of his staff in the highest regards. He and his family has always held a special spot in my heart and will always. My thought and prayers to go to his family.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Sanguily family. He was one of a kind, a truly wonderful man. He will be deeply missed by the entire community.
One of my favorite memories of Mario is the day he walked into the OR lounge, pulled a picture out of his breast pocket , held it up and said "See her, isn't she beautiful? She loves me and she's gonna marry me! " He had a smile so big and such a puffed up chest that I thought he would explode!
Mario was bigger than life and will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched.
I will always remember Dr.Sanguily. He was a GREAT surgeon, always lighthearted and comical. He will definitely be missed by many!
Mario was truly one of a kind. A great surgeon and friend. It is a great loss for every one that knew him. A talented surgeon, always playing music on his IPhone and sharing videos his daughter made of the families many vacations to the Bahamas. He could always make a room light up and make everyone laugh.
He will live on in our hearts. We will all miss you Mario.....My thoughts and prayers go to his family.
I have known Mario and his Brothers, Mother and Father since they moved to Sebring. We played together in High School where he was the Quarterback for the Sebring High School Blue Steaks. I lived on the east coast of Florida for 23 years and was fortunate enough to see and spend alittle time with him he always
gave me time when I would stop by and visit him, his brothers and father. I will surely miss Mario and I am so happy that I knew him and his Wonderful Family.

Mrs. Alice Junge
Dr. Mario means so much to our family. If it were not for him my husband James would not be here today. His dedication to his patients and their families was amazing. He is truly "One of a kind" no one could ever replace him. He will forever be in our hearts and minds. You will forever be missed. <3
Mario was a true gentleman and always had a smile on his face. What a loss he will be to the Martin family. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends and all those lives he has touched.
My deepest heartfelt condolences & sympathies to Dr. Mario's wife, children, family. I have been a friend of Mario for many years. I cannot tell you how sorry, I am. Mario always had a smile on his face and a good joke to tell, I never saw him in a bad mood or with a bad attitude. I had the pleasure of being by his side watching him do what he loved more than anything which was surgery; he always had rock & roll playing in the background. I am really going to miss him.
Dr Sanguily was a caring, professional surgeon who still had the warm and friendly manner that made you feel safe before surgery, which can be a frightening experience. My prayers are with his family and many friends and co-workers.
Dr. Mario was an amazing surgeon and human being. God must of needed an angel. You will never be forgotten. I will never forget your smiling face.

Dear Mrs. Sanguily,Briana and Justin:
It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Dr. Sanguily. Our mother was in good hands with his wonderful and respected care at Martin Memorial Hospital. We know he will be profoundly missed by all he helped and all he loved.
Mrs. Priscilla Koss and family
Our entire community is so very saddened by the loss of Mario. What a wonderful testiment of loving life and loving his family even more that he showed daily. You will be greatly missed our friend... many prayers for your beloved family at this time. I pray that they may find peace in knowning that when you arrived at the side of the master he undoubtedly said..."well done my good and faithful servant.. go and take your rest"
May this beautiful poem help your heart to heal: To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dr Mario left us much too soon. This news left us with a very sad heart. We remember him as being such a life force to all. We credit him with saving Stefano from a worse stroke than the mild one he had just recently in September. I know he will be sorely missed by his family friends and colleagues. Rest in peace with your Heavenly Father dear Doctor!
Dr. Mario Sanguily was truly a great man and human being. He was bigger than life and will be missed by all........

His smile was contagious and his professional and friendly demeanor did not go unnoticed. Dr. Mario, we will miss you greatly. My prayers for the family to rest assured he is an angel in heaven now just as he was here on earth!
Always the life of the nurses' station when he arrived, showing us whatever new crazy app he had for his beloved Iphone, all of his crazy ringtones..."Apple bottom jeans!...boots with the Furrrr" and "Wooty girl" =) His Gator Crocs....and him showing off his newest vacation pics of him on the boat fishing with his family. ?Que Vola, hacere?....you will be missed!
--Thanks for all the times you bought us lunch, or always tried to teach us something, and never got upset for a silly phone call from a new nurse.
This is a tragic loss for our Martin community. He was a great mentor for the medical students, calmly teaching them the ways of being a surgeon. We will miss this big guy terribly...thoughts and prayers to the entire Sanguily family.

It was always such a pleasure to work with Dr. Mario Sanguily. I looked forward to seeing him everyday. He could turn a bad day into a good day. We had an easy banter between us that would make us and others laugh. I will treasure the 15 years I worked with him and will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers to his family.
I first met Dr. Mario Sanguily back in the early 90's while I was a nursing student. He was kind enough to let me observe a surgery for my clinical rotation. He asked me if I would need a chair to sit down, meaning that it was going to take a while. I found that amusing, but that was the kind of guy he was. He always had a smile, and will be truly missed. He will always be a reminder of how medicine should be practiced, with accuracy, kindness, and respect. Good- bye, Dr. Mario, and thank you. My sincere condolences go out to your family.
I woke up this morning to read the sad news about Dr.Sanguily. Dr. Mario saved my Mother's life and I will ever be grateful to him. He was one of the kindness and well respected Doctors. My heart goes out to the Sanguily family. Dr. Mario was a funny man, great surgeon and had a caring heart for his patients. He will be greatly missed. One thing I will always remember about him is his silly ring tone that he had on his cell phone. God bless and be with the Sanguily family in there time of sorrow. May they find peace and comfort that Dr. Mario is the families guardian angel.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He was a very nice and well liked man and doctor. God Bless. Candy Jakab(Port St Lucie) A co-worker at Martin Memorial

Read some Facebook posts about the sadness and loss of Dr. Mario Sanguily and let me say there were some beautiful posts. One written by Dr. Mercado was just beautiful and another one written, not sure by who, but essentially stating "Mario was not one in a million, he was one of a kind." It was a pleasure and an honor to work with Mario! He made every day in the OR a better day for patients and staff. It was special to work with him. Blessings to his parents, wife & children, and brothers. A sad day indeed.
The last thing Dr. Mario Sanguily ever said to me was "enjoy your life'!
He had clearly saved me from death, and that was his advice..."ENJOY YOUR LIFE"! That shall become my "New Year's Resolution" in honor of him.
The BEST surgeon and even BETTER to work for. He always, always gave 100 percent to his family, to his patients, to his friends and to his co-workers. I feel inspired to be as giving to others as he was...to laugh as much as he did...to care as much as he did....
Such a great loss for the community, Dr.Sanguily was greatly admired ad will be missed by his Martin Memorial Family and the community
Many years ago when The Stuart News was located across from the courthouse on East Ocean Boulevard, my wife was saved from death by a skilled surgeon named Dr. Julio Sanguily Jr.
Recently, my life was saved, too, by the skilled surgical hands and caring attitude of his son, Dr. Mario Sanguily.
I am so deeply shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. He was such a skilled and wonderful and caring surgeon. I appreciated his kind and cheerful mannerisms, and I knew that he cared deeply for all his patients. I feel as if I have lost a part of myself, because it is doubtful I would be alive to raise my son had it not been for Doctor Sanguily's skill and wisdom. Such a huge loss to the world. My sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers are extended to his family, including his staff who I am sure are also feeling the enormity of this loss. What a great guy he was! A skilled professional with a caring heart of gold. I hope and pray he did not suffer.Thank you Dr. Sanguily. I have thanked you in my heart and mind every day for the past two years. I will continue to be thankful for you.I will never forget you.
Dr. Mario was a well respected, kind and loving man. He was admired as a physician and a surgeon but his greatest achievement and testament to his life is the wonderful family he leaves behind.
