Mikie:

When I heard you were gone, it hurt me to my heart. You were a great co-worker and you made me see your abilities, not your disability. You were a great coach and I marveled at how you could coax the best out of everyone - not just in basketball, but in life. I miss you much, my friend. Rest well.

My older son Ryan knew Mike as he was with me at different events. He had the privilege to know Mike on a professional level working with the wheelchair basketball. We both send our condolences to his family. Mike was always amazing to me and his love and knowledge of basketball was legend. I've known Mike since our college days and we both worked at Verizon so we have knwon each other for a very long time. He will be remembered by many as a super special person.

I met Mike at New Jersey Bell and, just as he did with most of us, he sucked me into his world, giving me the privledge of sharing some very special times with some very special people. He was our leader in DIAL, a group that still exists at Verizon, which has a goal of leveling the playing field for all employees and customers. Our work and play together taught me to look for and cherish the abilities people have and to know that no disability is a handicap to success. God bless you Mike!

I knew Mike through Dick Kaner, and any friend of Dick's is a friend of mine. I met him on my infrequent trips to NY and was always impressed by his great attitude and ability to get around without help. He never had a bad word for anyone. Great loss

I first met Mike 20 years ago during a wheelchair basketball event at my high school. I was only 1yr post my injury and you welcomed me with open arms. I cannot believe that day was 20 years ago. I will miss our phones calls about Pro and wheelchair basketball and you yelling at us for not showing up on Monday nights. I know this was your way to tell us you cared and loved us. You are a very special person to me and I will miss you. Love you Mike.
June 10, 2013
My sincerest condolences to your family. I remember participating in several wheelchair games with Mike at Mountain High School, circa 1969.

I first met Mike when I was an assistant at De Paul - we went out to New Jersey to recruit Ron Norwood in 1974 - Mike was in the room with Ron when we walked in to do our home visit - we developed a friendship from that night on - what a great guy - he did know his basketball - we went back out East to recruit a lot of players - I have been out of college coaching for a long time but I well always remember Mike -

Dearest Michael and Family,
Thank you for the countless lives you touched, including my own, here on Earth. You wore many transformational titles that I know you have taken with you to heaven and are changing lives there now. Selfishly, we miss you down here, but where you are now, you are free from polio and can spread your wings and fly that you have so deservingly earned. I love you my friend, coach, teacher, and mentor. Your amazing journey continues.

Mourn for a brief time, celebrate your brother's life for a long time. I will always have such happy, fond childhood memories of Mikey. Our families were blended together that your parents were "Aunt Olga and Uncle Mike" and you and Mikey were our "cousins". He was always a positive, brave, courageous individual that didn't let his physical limitations hold him back from anything!! God bless him and may he rest in peace. Our love to you during this most difficult time.

Mary Anne, may the caring and love of family and friends carry you through this.
My cousin Mike and I had such a connection, even though we were so far apart. Enjoyment of salsa, politics and reminiscing of times gone by. He was so upbeat and matter of fact. And that smile! His life was lived to the fullest. Going to miss you lots, Mikie.
