I am heartily sorry to hear about Mike's passing. He was a great friend to me at Lawrence HS. He was an extraordinary person, full of wit and passion. We both joined the service after HS and never saw each other again...but I thought of him quite often.
To the children and grandchildren of Mike Blitch, I am sorry to learn of his passing and really regret I did not know he was living in Burnet. I was in high school with him and definitely remember him. He was an independent thinker who sometimes annoyed teachers and administrators for being outspoken. I hope that some of you have inherited that tendency--of being outspoken, of being your own person. My recollection of Mike is he did not care about being popular in high school--it is challenging to go your own way. Nancy Jane Taylor, now Shivers by marriage (san antonio) November 21, 2012
So sorry to hear about the passing of Mike. Mike was a good high school friend, LHS class of 1966, and we spent many hours running around the high school track at Lawrence High. He was such a good and solid kid and, even though our paths parted after high school, I imagine he was also a wonderful man, dad and friend to everybody who he met.
May my thoughts and prayers be with the Blitch family at this time. Knowing of him from his father and sisters' pride. Knowing of this loss after his father's departure - during a time usually reserved for much happier family gatherings. Go with God.
