Mary Sue, sorry to learn of Mort's passing. Although I only met him when we had lunch in New Orleans years ago he impressed me as a very kind and thoughtful person. You and your family will be in our prayers.

Dear Dr. Cox family. I was sad to see Dr. Cox's passing. I worked for him at ARC in Ann Arbor and St. Mary's. He was a great Doc to work for. Kind, funny and every lunch I ever got for him was "turkey on whole wheat"! You all are in my thoughts. Lisa Hickok

How sad that I missed my opportunity to thank Dr. Cox for the decision he made ragarding my treatment some 34 years ago. I had thought about driving out to Portage Lake to let him know that his instinctive decision, which went against the convention wisdom at that time, saved my eyesight. I wanted to tell him that that young, newly married 26 year old went on to have a great career, 35 wonderful years of marriage and three great children who have now been through college. All because Dr. Cox was more compassionate than his peers. Additionally, for a young Christian couple like we were, Dr. Cox's spiritual advice meant as much as to us as his medical. God Bless and Keep him.

How ironic and sad that I should be thinking of you all today. It sounds as if Dr. Cox was as kind throughout his life as I remeember him being when I babysat the "kids" in Belmont. My deepest codolences to you all.

Dr. Cox, you were a wonder of grace, honor and class. Perhaps not all in this world is as perfect, and without faults as you are.
You were my (best ever) physician for many years while I lived in MI. You will rest with angels.

Dear Jeff,
We were so saddened to hear of your father's passing. Although we did not know him personally, Larry Brink and Suzie Cagwin spoke often of the wonderful people he and your mother were. May your sadness be eased by memories and abiding love.

Murph: What sad news! At least we had the opportunity to share a bit of time with you and Mort last fall. We had no suspicion that we would not see Mort again. We plan to see you at the Funeral Chapel this coming Friday. We have advised Stinson, Fey, Norton, et al of this most unfortunate turn of events.

I had the privledge of working with Dr Cox when he came to Jackson in the past. He was one of the nicest doctors I have ever worked with in the office and operating room. He was an excellent surgeon and helped restore sight to so many . My prayers are with his family at this difficult time. Rest assured he is reaping his rewards in heaven.

Mary Sue,
So sad to hear the news of Dr. Cox's passing. It was evident how much he loved life but nothing made those beautiful blue eyes sparkle more than when you were in the room. You were both blessed to have found each other and enjoyed a wonderful life together.

It is hard to put into words the impact Mort has had on my life after befriending his oldest son, Jeff, almost 40 years ago. "Dr. Cox" always made time to share words of wisdom, to encourage me to seek my dreams, and to learn how to laugh at life. I will sincerely miss his sense of humor, his love of life and family, and his ability to make me feel at home when spending time with the Cox family. God bless Mary Sue, Jeff, Lisa, and Sam. My continued prayers for healing.

Love you all, Cad

We're so saddened to hear of Mort's passing. A friendly caring man to whom many people owed so much. He saved my father's sight in both eyes and Dad was grateful for the rest of his life, as was the rest of the Chapin Clan.
