Just learned of Paul's passing. I worked with Paul at Cape Cod Hospital many years ago. Paul made the world a little brighter for those who knew him. He will be missed by many. Condolences to the family and friends.
I was surprised and saddened to hear of Paul's recent passing. As one of his Amsoil customers, I found him to be a friendly and decent man, always ready with a smile and a humorous comment. I suppose it was characteristic of him that he gave no clue as to the fact that he was ill-I had no idea. He was a decent, friendly, hard-working man, and he will be missed by me and many others. My condolences to his charming wife Claire, and to his family.
So very sad to read about Paul. I cannot imagine you without him as you were always or "Bee Couple". I am so overwhelmed to think that he is no longer around, he was so much a part of our bee lives.
I remember so many fun things about him, his wry sense of humor about bee things, and it helped us cope when things didn't work out a they should have, such as when our bees swarmed one summer!
I shall never forget you Claire, your unending help and wise counsel on all things bee-related. But most of all your kind heart and always ready to reach out with thoughtfulness in all things!
When you go out to your bees, Paul's spirit will be there with you, smiling down and making sure, all will be well and saying "you're Golden"! That's how I shall remember you always!
With deep affection,
We were saddened to learn of your recent loss of Paul.
You bath shared so much with your profession, your love of beekeeping and your family. It must be a difficult time.
Please accept our sympathies.
Words cannot describe how saddened Ed & I are to have heard about Paul.
As you know, my memories of Paul go back 30+ years with CVS. What a hardworking, dedicated man and just a good, honorable person. It was such a pleasure to be reacquainted through the beekeeping. Same Paul...
We are so very sorry. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. With love,
Dearest Auntie Claire,
How sorry I was, and still am, over the loss of Uncle Paul. We wish you the best over this trying time. I have been thinking of you, the girls and JP ever since I heard the news. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Much love,
John and I were so sad to hear about Paul. We hope you are able to find comfort in family and friends while your heart mends.
All of us at Long Pasture want to express our deepest condolences to you and your family and closest loved ones over the loss of Paul.
I know Paul's respect of others, love of nature and witty personality was recognized by all and we were and will continue to be honored to have your involvement at the sanctuary with beekeeping.
We all wish you strength and serenity as you reflect on your lives together. We all look forward to seeing you here on the sanctuary and know it brings you comfort and happiness!
Dad - I can't say good bye. And I won't, knowing that you will always be with us. We're so heartbroken. Every morning I wake up thinking, hoping, this was a bad dream. But then as I wait for your morning email, I know it's true. I'll miss your smile and the crinkles at your eyes. I'll miss your teasing Dee over politics. I'll miss your calling Mom “your bride.” I could fill books with everything that I love about you. You taught us kids respect, pride, patriotism, humility, kindness, and laughter. You set my standard for what a loving husband should be. And what a proud father should be. Thank you. I love you. -Andrea
I didn't know Paul, but I know his daughters. It seems like they both inherited something of his old soul though they are of these times. You can sense their deep roots to very solid people — in their values, easy laughter, and willingness to work hard and care little about what people around them might think.
Take care of each other, D and Dre, and don't be shy about shining your light. My condolences to the whole family.
Through this site I first learned of the Barnstable Beekeepers Association. I became a member and attended the beekeeping classes.
I met alot of great people and learned alot. What struck me the most was the love that Paul and Claire had for their “girls”. I remember the twnkle in Claire's eye when she spoke of beekeeping, and the twinkle in Paul's eye when he spoke of Claire. Not that his affection for her was greater, I think that their affection for one another and beekeeping was wrapped all together. It wasn't just a hobby but a passion for them. A passion that they wanted to share with everyone.
Paul thank you for your patience, your knowledge, your support one your passion. Rest in Peace.
We were so sorry to hear that Paul had passed away. I always enjoyed talking to him most at the Canning gatherings. Nowadays when someone as young as he is gone, it seems far too soon. I regret that you are deprived of his companionship.
Please express our condolences to your children too & know that you & Paul are in our thoughts...every time I see a honeybee!
I know how much your dad's love of his family and his connection to place very naturally became a part of the women that you and Dre are today. I will always think of his spirit playing in the marshes and cranberry bogs of Cape Cod.
Utterly heartbroken and completely devastated. We lost our beloved Papa.
He survived cancer in 2005 but it came back with a vengeance. He fought hard for over a year and a half but ultimately it was too much. I was fortunate to call him Dad but even luckier to truly call him a friend. For more than 46 years he was the husband and best friend to our amazing Mom.
He is the man who taught me that I could do anything I wanted and always made sure that we knew how proud he was of us. He was the man that all others were compared to, and most were found wanting in his shadow. We will miss him every single day but know that he will forever be with us.
He will rest easy and be happy knowing that his dearest family is well loved.
Claire, so sorry to hear about Paul. My condolences to you and your family. charly sullivan (Aubuchon)
Not only was he my first bus driver, but my first boss at CVS. What a great man I have learned so much from him. He will be missed greatly.
Both Betty Ann and I are crushed by the news of Paul's departure.
Our love and deepest regrets go out to you at this time. When I think of the many wonderful years both of you cared so deeply for our hives, it is hard to accept that he is gone to a quieter place.
Our love and deepest thanks are with you at this time.
We are with you throughout this time, Claire, with deepest consideration and appreciation.
My heart goes to you and your family! his handmade candles have been burning in our house for years now; feel like we knew a little bit of him.
Sorry to hear this. He and I worked together at Rite Aid in Middleboro together for several years . He will be missed.
He was my friend. He was a kind, caring, loving, giving beekeeper. He IS missed here and now at EAS! I say with thankfulness, "He was"!
A bit shocked. My huge hug to Paul's family and friends.
I am so sorry for your loss. The few times I got to see Paul and yourself at Bee meetings were great. Paul was a great man and beekeeper. He will be missed.
Dear Claire, JP, Andrea and Danielle -

It's been a struggle to put down words as I can't grasp Paul's passing. He was a good friend & I enjoyed his company so much.
I admire folks who still have common sense & are honest as the day is long. He was of such integrity, loyalty and no BS!
I will envision his smile and laughter forever. He was terrific!
I know this is painful but as a friend I am around and would be honored to help you.

We will keep him and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
Just a note to let you know that we are thinking of you. So sad that Paul has passed. The workings of the universe seem so unfair. But at least he had you in his life, so maybe that helps in his life too short.
Thanks for all you two are.
We were so saddened to hear of Paul's passing. We will always remember Paul's kind, reassuring presence at the back of the bee school classroom, smiling and calmly answering our questions.

We were so sorry to hear about Paul! I could go on for a long time saying loads of wonderful things about him - all of them true - but it boils down to this - we're missing a friend. You are your family are in our thoughts.

I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed talking to your dad at the family parties - and seeing his face when he had to sit on Santa Claus' lap! I'm thinking of you and your family.
I was saddened to read of Paul's passing. Although our lives parted after the children graduated it was always a bright moment to run into Paul at the post office or around town. He will be missed.
I truly enjoyed the dinners I shared with Paul these last years. Our friendship in high school was both enjoyable and memorable. I shall never forget him. I will miss him. Please accept my sympathies for your loss.
I was so sorry to hear of Paul's death. You two have meant so much to everyone in the bee club and its just hard to imagine Paul not there with his sage advice and calmness.
I hope you can come to grips with this loss in the fullness of time.
How sad I felt for you all, when I heard Paul passed...
You have been on my mind and heart since you told me that the cancer had returned. Please forgive my not getting out a quick note to tell you so...
I'm writing this with a heavy heart and a lack of words. But just I care...

Paul was a great friend, always a ready smile. a hug, always time to talk. We will miss that. We'll miss his expressions of love when he talked about you and the family. How he cherished all of you. Each & every email we saw - just seeing that it was from him brought a smile to our faces.

We love you very much and are praying for you. So sorry...
I just heard from the folks at Meetinghouse Farm that your beloved husband had passed on... I always felt that Paul was fun, handsome and loved to bits!
Dear Claire -
We in the club have so come to accept the presence of you and Paul as part of the experience of keeping bees that we feel a bit adrift. I can only tell you that Paul's humor, dependability and endless optimism will be truly missed.
Thinking of you, my friend.
Claire & family -
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
It was an honor to know Paul -
I send love, prayers, comfort & healing to you. You are such a bright light, as Paul was, and I am grateful to have seen Paul in action in his many roles in the club.
The true grace that you and Paul showed as you always mentioned unselfishly, is a benchmark for patience. Paul will be sorely missed but never forgotten. A brother beekeeping angel.
Our thoughts are with and your family. We all mourn the loss of a good man.

We at the Senior Service Corps Program were very saddened to learn of Paul's passing. He was a very nice person and every time we met I was impressed with his kindness. He was also a wonderful volunteer and gave many valuable hours to improve our communities.
He will be missed.
Claire, JP, Andrea & Danielle -
I worked with Paul at Rite-Aid in Middleboro for may years. I worked with him during his first diagnosis. Paul seemed invincible to me. He was always so optimistic about it all. He was a great man, He would talk about his family to me, he was always so proud of you all.
Paul was the only person I kept in touch from Rite-Aid with all this time. He was such a genuine person - there are so few people like him. Truly honest.
I am so sorry for your loss. He loved you all so much!
Kevin and I are so sorry. So very, very sorry.
When I think of Paul, I see him standing next to you. You are wearing a full-blown bee suit, opening a hive. He's there in shorts and a tee shirt. No veil. No gloves. Smiling. Maybe it's because we've only known you together that I think of him in relation to you. Background to your foreground. Quiet to your voluble. Funny, smart, and rock solid. And part of the reason we liked him so much is that we like you, too, and we like that you chose each other.
We are thinking of you, and of Paul. We will remember him with affection and respect, and gratitude that we knew him.
Our very best, in this most difficult time.
We were so sorry to learn of Paul's passing.
Rest assured you're in our thoughts.
As for myself, as I type this I'm remembering Paul enthusiastically chasing bees across Craggy Gardens on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Thanks for sending your dad's obituary. I didn't know him well but always figured that it must have taken two very special people to have raised girls like you and Danielle and I admired the relationship you had with your dad and still have with your mom. Be strong for your mom and Danielle and be thankful for the all the time you had with your dad over the years. My heart goes out to you and your family.
I am so sorry for your loss. Though I have only known your dad a short time, he made a huge impression on me and was always so warm and friendly to me. His encouragement to me on writing my nomination for beekeeper of the year several years ago is a story I hold dear to my heart. He saw something in me and helped me bring it out. I will miss him terribly at the meetings and also miss his guidance. Please send my heartfelt regards to your mom.
The beekeeping world has lost a truly wonderful beekeeper.
With Loving Kindness,
Bonita and I are so sad to hear this. Paul has been so important to me as a confidant, antagonist, and advisor over these years that I cannot imagine a world without him. Your father has helped me so many times with good, down to earth advise, and calmed me when I was angry or frustrated - putting me back on track. Paul is the reason we have a state bee association today.
Please convey to Claire and your family how much we loved Paul and appreciate his significant contribution to Massachusetts beekeeping. From me I will miss Paul as a friend and person I respected for his honesty, constancy of purpose, and a man whose company I always enjoyed.
If your family needs anything please ask. We cannot help your feeling of loss, but we can affirm the important mark your father has left for so many of us as beekeepers, and people.
Much love and gratitude to the Desilets family.
I am so sorry for your loss. Paul was always ready with a smile or a joke. I will miss him, we go back a long way to Prevost High School.
I can't tell you how bad I feel for you but the 2 of you had many good years together. I'm sure one of them was your baking talents (Chocolate Cake made with duck eggs) for one. I always get a smile on my face when I think of him and the fun we had poking jokes at each other. He was very special. He'll never really be gone if we keep him in our hearts; I sure will.
God Bless You and the kids
I was surprised and saddened to hear of Paul's passing. He was a friend who I looked forward to hearing from at any time. I recall recently how proud he was of his daughters trip to The Netherlands. The times he and Grube and I spent at Ft. Riley.
Thanks to each of you for sharing him with me all these years since 1969. I will remember him fondly for the rest of my days.
Thank you for letting me know. I loved the guy too.
I didn't know that he was ill. But, I could tell by the nature of his more recent e-mails and attachments that he was thinking some profound thoughts like we all do as we age. I appreciate them more today.
You have my deepest condolences.
So sorry Claire, I am going to miss Paul. Even though we did not spend a lot of time together, we had a few laughs every time we met. It is hard for me to imagine that he and I are not going to meet again and laugh. I will remember him with fondness. I'm sure it is a hard time for you and your family, and I am sure that Paul would want you all to keep your chins up, and be glad that you all went through life with such a fine person.
To the Desilets family.
May I offer my deepest sympathy to you all at this time of loss. I shared many a laugh and jokes with Paul @ Camp Edwards where we worked together and with him as my Amesoil distributor. I always looked forward to checking my email as I always knew that there would be something there from him to brighten my day.
He will truly be missed by all that knew him, but we are all better off for shared his life experience.
