I spent a good part of my youth in a dentist chair and hated every minute. Somehow I had the good fortune to meet Ralph Yuodelis who changed all of that. The best dentist I every had. The work he did more than 20 years ago looks and feels as good as new. And yes, his kind heart and absolute competence, I am sure, was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Dearest Nan and family,
My deepest sympathies to you, your children and their families. We will all miss that wonderful "larger than life" man at Reid family gatherings and none of us will forget his wonderful sense of humour and his big laugh. Ralph and I shared many hours together in his dental office in Edmonton and I continue to wear his handiwork to this day. He will always have a very special place in my heart.
Love to you all,
Gladys Reid Tasseron

If you're lucky, you'll meet someone like Ralph a few times in a lifetime. He was a man who did his best to hide his soft heart with a mountainous ego & grandiose personality... but his tenderness & generosity still shone through. He would challenge you to your limits... because he knew your capabilities better than you. As a teacher, Ralph's visible hand would slap you with harsh criticism, while simultaneously his often invisible hand would open doors of opportunity for you to improve. Ralph reminded me of a football coach I'd had in Texas who once screamed, " You don't want me to stop yelling at you! Because the day I stop yelling, is the day I have given up on you." Ralph believed in those with whom he surrounded himself, and if you let it, his influence would make you better. I was honored to have known you, Ralph. Rest well my teacher, mentor, and friend.

Dr. Yuodelis was my dentist for 33 years (starting at age 25) before retiring. He is the main reason I have my teeth today, having performed 3 gum transplants. I am forever grateful for his skill, his care, and his dental guidance. I am sad that he died too young. I offer my condolences to his family.

Dear God,
Our dearly beloved Ralph Yuodelis sadly left us eight days ago. Yes....he is the tall, tan, handsome man with the big smile and outstretched arms awaiting his acceptance into Heaven. He is such a good man and we will miss him immensely. Please welcome him home, surround him with your love and light and embrace him tightly until he is comfortable with his new surroundings and until we all meet again. Thank you God.

Ralph,
I am really going to miss you. You were so much fun. Think of the times we had duck hunting, salmon fishing, drinking wine, golfing and even skiing. We have roomed together many times at meetings. What fun we had. Your contributions to our study club for 33 years has always been appreciated. Remember when I worked for the crown and bridge department when I was a student----and you showed me how to do a inadvertant vertical over the cuspid eminance? Wow! I was impressed. I love you Ralph and will really miss you.

So very sad to learn that Ralph passed away. Even though he has left us, he will be in our memories for the rest of our lives. For those who went through the Grad Program with Ralph, we are what we are now in our profession because of all we learned from him and from the Program he put together. His voice telling us what to do and what not to do will always be with us. Having to deal with such hard minded, hard headed students like we were , he had to become sometimes intimidating and tough. But looking back, it was always like a father talking (sometime a little bit louder) to his children for their best because he considered all of us like his children.
We lost our father but we remain to keep his memory.

Dear Ralph,
You had changed my life forever by accepting me to the program. For that, I am eternally grateful. Your were a great teacher in dentistry. But most of all, you were a great teacher for appreciating life. Your spirit and charisma can never be replaced. You are the ultimate symbol of optimism, industriousness and gusto. Your strong voice will always ring in my ear and you will always be in my heart.

Thank you for choosing me to accompany you as you developed the finest, most prestigious Graduate Prosthodontics program in the world. I have the deepest respect and admiration for you and your accomplishments as a superb teacher, excellent clinician but moreover as a loving, caring, friend and humanitarian. I was honored to be your assistant in the program and to be acquainted with all of the graduate students. Your passion, brilliance, perfection and energy have been my inspiration and your wonderful family has felt like my own. My heart is broken. I will never forget you.

"Uncle" Ralph. I have such wonderful memories of coming to your house to visit in Seattle and romping around in the pool with all the Yuodelis'.

Ralph's many gifts of compassion and love for all people will continue to live in everyone he touched. Ken and I are so blessed to have spent many special occassions and Christmas vacations in Tampa with Ralph and Nan, he will be deeply missed, mostly his stories, opera, hearing him cheer on the Seahawks and Bucks and watching him sip his red, red, wine .... Cheers Ralph!

I will always remember Dr. Yuodelis as someone with a smile and this beautiful tanned skin - that sticks in my head from when I was a little girl. He meant a great deal to us and most especially my father (Clark Kvistad), who will miss him immensely. I will pray for Mrs. Yuodelis, the children, the grandchildren, and all others who loved him.

There is  always an empty space left in your soul when you have to say goodbye to someone as special as Ralph, but  his wisdom and legacy will accompany us forever.  We will miss you.
August 20, 2013
I am so grateful for the opportunity Ralph gave me and many other Canadians to be mentored in his graduate program. There was something special about Ralph that went beyond the dental aspect of our training. Forever missed.

Ralph was a great mentor and really fun person to know. He was diligent in whatever endeavor except he could not tie your moorings lines for squat, intentionally so he would not have that responsibility. He was a wonderful fisherman and would outfish the best. He had his line in the water more time than any person I have ever met. He also caught huge fish of every species in Alaska, including stealing Roger Harpers 100 lb halibut. And Ralph caught the largest King salmon on the EZRIDER, around 70 pounds. He liked a favorite prayer of mine that goes like this, "Oh God I pray that I may fish until my dying day and when I've made my final cast and life has slipped away. I pray that God's great landing net may catch me in its sweep and in His mercy God shall judge me ...big enough to keep. Find the good spots for us in heaven Ralph, we're going to miss you down here. Thanks for sharing him with us Nan. Jerry Zemlicka

I've always credited Ralph with any success I've had in dentistry. We've shared such great times from Chicago to Alaska. I'm proud to say I was present for two of the three fish pictures. Ralph, you leave a big hole in my heart.....

I learned many valuable lessons from Ralph. His influence on my life from the time I arrived in Seattle has been profound. He will always be with me, for which I am indeed grateful.
