We will forever remember Dick as a most gracious Southern gentlemen. Dick was handsome, hospitable and always helpful.
Betsy, we so admired the way you cared for Dick during his recent illness. You were a real trooper, and so was Dick.
We are looking forward to having you spend time in La Quinta with us.
With much LOVE and prayer for you at this most difficult time.
Rosa Lee Measures, and Albert Harris
I am so sad about your loss and send my condolences to his family and yours.

I just learned of his passing and am sorry for your loss. Many of my memories of him are from my youth. He was always very kind to me and was an easy person to like. I remember admiring him then.
Good luck on your next
journey...To a swell guy and friend...
Dr. Bill Powell, 3-57
Dear Betsy, We played bridge with Dick at Saticoy Country Club. We enjoyed his sense of humor and his jokes. What a great guy! His bidding wasn't the greatest, but then he would bid 6 or 7 of a suit and make it! Amazing. He was an original thinker! You were lucky to have found each other. He was a true gem.
My thoughts are with you at the sad time. I share your loss of an accomplished person who contributed greatly to the community. May your many happy memories sustain you in the time ahead.
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May you experience God's peace.
Semper Fi Dick! We have all been through a lot together. From the Marine Corps, to your profession as an attorney and now in peace, you have been a faithful friend and ally. We will meet again on the other shore!
God bless your soul my friend until then.
Tom and Nona Sarver G Company, BC 3-57

Very sad news! He was a great gentleman.
My condolences to Mrs. Chess & family
Dick Chess was a cool guy and a great Fairfax lawyer. His family were good friends with Howard Greens family during the 70's. Dick and Howard were involved in all kinds of investments and were the first to introduce indoor tennis to Virginia. Dick was a friend and confidant. Miss ya big guy. You were special.
Dear Mrs. Chess, My deepest sympathy to you and the family. Mr. Chess was a true joy to see almost everyday at Saticoy Country Club for so many years and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
My condolences to Betsy on the loss of Dick. Dick was a wonderful guy, full of great stories on interesting subjects. He will be missed. Peter
My sympathies. You can find comfort at Ecclesiastes 9:5.
Dear Betsy and Family. Awesome obituary. I am sorry for your loss. Dick was a true gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I'm so sorry, Betsy, for your loss. Judging by the obituary, you and Dick shared a wonderful life together that you can treasure for many years!
I hope to see you at the next symphony concert--you were missed at the last one, likely caring for Dick. I hope that YOUR body parts are healthier now.
God's blessings to you and your family,
