Dear Cheryl and family,
We are so sorry to hear about Rick's passing. It seems like only yesterday we were all getting together in Iowa City and beginning our families. Cheryl, I remember that you took care of Erika in the nursery at UI. Rick was a wonderful and witty man, physician, husband, and father, and our hearts go out to you. We pray that the peace of God, which passes all understanding, be with you all. Love, Elaine and Dennis

Feelings of sorrow are left in our hearts as we have lost a very wonderful man. As my uncle, Rick will forever be remembered for his silliness when we were young children. I have had the privilege to seek his wisdom and medical knowledge for my own child and I will forever be grateful for that. We are thinking of the entire Haddy family and wish we could be there to comfort you all. We love you very much today and always.

I'm not a good write, but I'll do my best. Knowing the Haddy family as close as I have for so many years my heart weeps for you all. Richard being an amazing father, doctor and person to know makes the pain right now that much greater. He's truly inspirational. Thank you Richard for all the kind words and great sense of humor.

So many doctors in Louisville learned from a good doctor and a great man. Those of us who worked with him as residents will continue to be guided by his wisdom. To his family, thank you for sharing him with us. His wisdom and sharp wit will be sorely missed by us all.

Working with Rick was a pleasure. A few of us were part of the weekend crowd (in the office on the weekend to have uninterrupted writing time). Rick's love of writing and research was something we often talked about. He always gave time to help us junior faculty with pearls of academic wisdom. His kind hearted presence was missed when he retired, and many have commented over the years about how when they were students, or junior faculty, he took the time to welcome and help them and about his consistent willingness to support team efforts. He leaves a legacy as an educator and mentor that we will always appreciate. Our sympathy to his family, you are in our prayers.

I met Dr. Haddy when I started working in Family Medicine in 2003. He was such a nice and kind person. He would always speak to me whenever he walked by my desk. He loved to talk about his family and would sometimes bring in a birthday or Father's day card that one of children had sent him that he thought was particularly funny. I am so sorry to hear about his passing and will keep his family in my prayers.

My uncle Rick was an exceptional person. I love him very much and will never forget all the life shaping memories and things he taught me.

I met Rick for the first time when I was only 18 years old and he began dating my beautiful sister Cheryl. He was always a big brother to me. I appreciated so much his calm, reassuring voice of reason. Rick would graciously give me a big smile and laugh at my bad jokes whenever I would see him. He clearly had an enormous heart for his family and all of the people that entered his life; that's what made him a great doctor, care giver, great husband, Father and friend to so many. I will miss my brother Rick, but will always remember and cherish him for the many lives he has touched. Rick truly made a difference. Love and blessings as he journeys to The Lord.

I was privileged to work with Dr Haddy for 15 years. We laughed and cried together many times. He always kidded me because my children were on their own and I traveled a lot. I always told him his time was coming. Now he can be our guardian angel and watch over all of us. I'm glad he is at peace. My heartfelt sympathy goes to Ms.Haddy and family. You will always be in my prayers. Patty Webber

I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked as Dr. Haddy's secretary for just a short while but he was always so kind and very funny. I hated when he retired. He will be greatly missed.
