Carol and family,
Your family has been in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I remember so well the first time I met Rich and you. I was always impressed and heartened by his tremendous courage and endurance. He lived his faith.
I am so sorry I missed Rich's service, but I am out of town and will be off and on for the next few weeks.
Love and Blessings,
We have lost a great Husband, Father, friend and patriot. Rich lived in Cheyenne when we were small and we would spend some time together in the summers. I remember when Rich was 11 he told me he was going to be in the army some day. I asked him why and he said that the US would always be attacked and he wanted to help the country. He told me he just knew that was what he was supposed to do. I remember his glee when he received his commission. One time when he came home on leave he told me he was thinking of attending Ranger school. I told him he should apply to be a Generals Aide. He told me he had already done that and he wanted to be trained to do anything that the army needed. Where have all the patriots gone? Rich attacked his MS with the same determination he put forth in the army. In all the many years with MS, I never heard him say a discouraging word. He always said he was doing fine! His love and devotion to our Lord was a great lesson for us all. Marilynn and I send you Carol, Adam, Mandi, Barbara and the rest of you our prayers of comfort and peace. We are all better off because Richard came into our lives, or is it that we came into Rich's live.
I cherish all my memories of Richard throughout the years. On the Michie farm, talking over things during college at CSU, visiting the family in Macon, chatting during lengthy phone calls. He was a special cousin. I admire his grit and perseverance. To Carol, Mandi, Adam, Barb and the rest of the family, may you be comforted with the grace of our heavenly father. Blessings, Carol Alford, husband Dave of Fort Collins, CO
Gene & I are certainly lifting you and your family up at this time. We have many fond memories of sharing Living Scenes, Banner Ministry, & College Ministry with you & Rich at MWMBC.
Although we have not seen you in recent years all of you remain close in our hearts. Rich was an incredible example to us all of NEVER giving up. Gene & I join you in celebrating Rich's life. We pray that this will be a great time of celebration as we know Rich is no longer suffering and he is finally healed and at home.
To Carol, Adam, Mandi, Barbara and family, Our prayers are with you at this time of loss. Richard was so positive as he dealt with the challenges of MS. We know his legacy of strength and kindness will carry on. May God Bless you all.
