We all grow up, move along, lose touch but it doesn't mean I stop thinking for 1 second about my cuz's. Thinking of you "little Bobby".
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Living out here on the west coast sometimes news finds me in the strangest of places. The news I received today of Bobby's passing floored me. I served with Bobby during our time together at Woods Hole and we often carpooled in together. "NO" was not part of his vocabulary, even though his love for the Dolphins was. This is a loss for the entire USCG and he will be greatly missed. One great shipmate. Farewell Bobby-B.
This was a shocker to me when I read the notice from Topeka. I had the privilege of attending JUMPPS/PMIS training with Bobby in the mid-80's and we all had a great laugh when US Airways lost the luggage containing his uniform. I know this man was a warrior who will be missed by those who lives he touched.

Bob was the consummate professional, mentor, friend, and shipmate. I served with Bob in Boston and will truly miss him.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Bobby BUOTTE. He was a good friend and he truly loved the USCG.
CDR Harold S. GOLDSTEIN, USCG RET
There are very few people you will meet in you lifetime that you can say "They made a difference" I have had the distinct honor and privilege of knowing such a man in Bobby. His calm demeanor and strong sense of purpose are found in few. I have watched him over the last 30 years develop from a shy teenager to a leader of men. He developed the ability to balance his love and devotion to his family with that of his Country.
Bobby, you will be missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
Dylan and Kristen, when you find it tough going now and throughout life, Take a deep breath, close your eyes and think, what would my dad be telling me right now.
My family grew with the addition of a new sister-in-law and two nieces. Just so we are clear Mal, once your in, there is no getting out.
Dad, I think that the student has become the teacher.
My deepest sympathies to the Buotte family as I just learned of Bobby's passing today. I was stationed with Bobby in the Reserve Administration Branch in Boston from 1983-1985. Bobby was a great Coastie, teacher, and mentor. I was a non-rate striking Yeoman (YN) in the office, and Bobby took me under his wing and taught me what it was like to be a YN. Basically, he instilled in me that we were in the "people" business. Bobby loved the Coast Guard and his family. The Coast Guard and his shipmates have lost a great and honorable servant. He will be missed by all who knew him.
love you bobby,
rest in peace,love you cheb

I was stationed with Bobby at the Coast Guard Academy. I really learned a lot from him in those two years. I staed in touch, but not as much as I would have liked. He was a great guy.
I had the great Honor of serving with Bobby, on the CGC Jarvis in Honolulu Hawaii, Bobby was my room mate at CG Housing when My wife Jean was working on the cruise ship. We had so many good times. Bobby was a great friend and pushed me to make rank. As years roll by I could still count on Bobby to make me laugh, and he always used to say "how you doing Buddy" usually followed by "how is Jean" I will miss our sports banter on the internet. And most of all I will miss my shipmate and friend. ALOHA Bobby..
I served with Bob at the Coast Guard Academy. I'll always remember his kindness and professionalism. He will be missed by all who knew him.
I served with Bob at the Coast Guard Academy and was Bob's friend every since. My heart goes out to his family. He was a true mentor to many Coastie's throughout the years. You will be missed. Tim DeVall
I'm in shock! I just went to Bob’s facebook page to wish him happy birthday and I found out he passed on. I am saddened. Thank you Bob for all the help and advice you gave me throughout my Coast Guard career-I will miss you, my friend.
Bob was one of the most ethical and exemplary people I had the pleasure of working with at ISC Boston. You have my prayers and heartfelt sympathy.
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
I will always Miss you Sir. I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you did for me, and the way you always stuck up for me. I will miss your jokes, emails, and all the great things about you.

Dear Mal - I heard just today and I am so sorry for you and your family. I still feel so strongly connected to the Coast Guard community and can feel how significantly he contributed to that community. I'm sure he will be long remembered. Mr & Mrs Buotte and Family,
We are so sorry to here about Bobby. I will always remember the great times we all had as kids in Hull. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. R.I.P. my friend.
We were very sad to hear of CWO (Bobby) Buotte's passing. Bobby was a great friend to us. Norm was stationed with him in Boston, and I had the privilege of meeting him when he was the best man in our wedding. Bobby always had something nice to say, always had a smile. Bobby you will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
"Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever."
To all who knew and loved cousin Bobby, I offer my sincere condolences. I did not have the privledge of getting to know him, and I regret that, for I have heard what an outstanding person he was. Uncle Bob, Aunt Carol, Cheryl, and Diane, I cannot imagine your pain, but pray that God will comfort strengthen and console you during this difficult time. I feel a profound sadness that one so good, should die so young. His passing was on my birthday, and though I don't like that, it will always remind me of him. God richly bless you, Keith and Lynn Turcotte
To Carol and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss.
My prayers are with all of you.
To Mal & Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. May his memory be a blessing.
Dear Buotte Family,
My name is YN1 Kristoffer Werk and I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Buotte or Bobby as I liked to call him on the golf course, as he was my boss at Sector Southeastern New England. Please let me start with saying that I am terribly sorry for your loss! Bobby was a great Coastie and an even better man. There were many times that he and I would just shoot the wind in his office and just crack ourselves up. He could always make me laugh and/or anyone in the office! He was a kind and generous man, especially when he opened his home to all of us for a morale cook out and my going away party. Bobby was an inspiration to me in my career, he was a great teacher, friend and mentor. He inspired not only me but another YN1 (Sarah) to strive for Warrant Officer and wouldn't let us back down from our goals. I remember asking him if I was going to make First Class and he always would tell me not to count my lucky stars...lol, but then the next breath he would say that I would make a great First Class and even better Chief. He always made me feel confident in everything I did or wanted to do, as he did all of his shipmates. He was the first one by your side and the last to leave your side. I know that Bobby loved the Coast Guard and loved his family even more. The Coast Guard and his shipmates have lost a great and honorable man, but I don't have to tell you that! I do have to say though that he made each and every one of us feel like family which made you all our family too. I will miss him greatly and will always be thinking of him as I go through life as I will remember all the life lessons he taught me. I know the lord has him now and he is being well taken care of and that he will be looking down on all of us. Bobby will always be honored, respected and missed by me and the entire Coast Guard family. Please remember that you all are part of the Coast Guard family and if there is anything you should ever need in the future, you have all of us to turn to. We all love you guys and will always love Bobby!!!
All my blessings to you and your family.
Cheryl & John,
With greatest sympathy, Love,The Murray Family
Mal and McKenna...My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time
"Crossing the Bar"
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
....Alfred Lord Tennyson....
I served with Bob while I was at Gloucester and he was at the Sector in Boston. Man he kept me on my toes with making sure we kept our records straight and files up to date. A true professional and someone I am proud to call my shipmate. Bob shaped many a Coasties paths, a true and respected leader. Thank you Bob for our great conversations!

There's nothing more I can say that hasn't been said. Just 5 months ago, you were helping me out with a CDAR presentation and wishing me luck on my way to Alaska. I didn't know you as long as most people did but you came across to me as a genuinely nice guy. Thanks for your service to this country.
I am deeply sorry for your sudden loss. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.

What a devastating loss to the Buotte family and the Coast Guard Family! Bobby was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. I had the honor of serving with him and he will truly be missed. Sending prayers and sympathies to his family on the loss of such an outstanding man.
I believe it was back in the 80's when I firsst met Bobby Buotte. Even then, he was full of understanding and compassion to be able to guide others in their Coast Guard career; his yeoman and administrative knowledge was always right on. His smile was a bonus to us. This was even magnified when he made warrant. I'm sure Bobby will be sorely missed by his family, the Coast Guard and all of us who have been associated with him.
CWO4 John R. Smelser, USCGR (Ret) and Mr. John Smelser, ESO for Sector Southeastern New England
Dear Bob and Carol,
Cindy and I were shocked to hear of your loss. While we never met Bob Jr.,in reading the various eulogies we discovered what a fine man and officer he was. God bless him and both of you in your grief. You're in our prayers!
Bobby,(Charlie Brown) the best brother in the world, with the biggest heart. The most loving, caring, generous and thoughtful person. Such a genuine smile. God must have really needed you to take you from us so soon. You are in our hearts always I miss you so dearly, give Patrick a hug for me. T.D.
I was station with Bobby back in the 80's at the D1 District. I had a lot of good memories of the old gang (Paul Bassick, Steve Mcdonald, Jim Freeman. Bobby was a true Coastie and a good friend. One thing that alway stood out about Bobby is that he always took care of his co-workers. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rest in peace good shipmate.
Dear Cherylann and all of your family, my heartfelt condolences and prayers to all of you at this very difficult time.

I served with Bob on the CGC Jarvis and he was one of my first friends in the Coast Guard. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
I was very very saddened to hear this news about Bob. He will be sorely missed by many many people throughout the country. I served with Bob in Boston and he was and still is a great friend & Shipmate. Rest well my friend and I will see you at the Rainbows End. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends.
Mal and Family. We could not begin to tell you how your husband impacted our lives. You could always count on your mornings being started by Mr. Buotte eating his frosted flakes, reading his newspaper and saying Hello to you as you walked in the door. He was always laughing and joking along with us, even when he was the brunt of the jokes. He would always talk about and send us pictures of his family and tell us how excited he was for each of your successes. When he would send us pictures, the subject line was always read..."Aren't they Beautiful." When you walked into his office you can see how proud he was of each of you and that he loved you so much. He meant very much to us and has been a big part of lives even after knowing him a short amount of time. Even today you can see that we all walk and look to the right and softly say under our breath "Good Morning, Mr. B". We wish you and your family the best and will always be here for you and are more than happy to bring you cannolis whenever you would like them!!
Bob was a great person and outstanding mentor. He assisted me numerous times throughout my career giving me guidance. He was a great leader and great friend. He will be missed by all.

Until then, I'm praying that God's loving comfort will enfold all of Bobby's family and friends today and in the days to come.

In the short 15 months that I have worked with Mr. Buotte I have witnessed a lifetime worth of charisma and compassion, two things that he mastered in. To all of his loved ones that he left behind, may you find peace in knowing that his life was very important and has positively touched so many people in ways that cannot even be put to words. Rest In Peace Sir! You stand relieved!
I have known CWO Buotte (Bob) since I was a third class and he was my YN1. He taught me a lot about being a YN and having pride in what you do. We had a lot of fun being stationed together. I will miss him dearly and he was taken from us too early. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Cindy Green, CWO2 and Will Green, AMTC

Bobby, you will be sorely missed, down at the Sector, as well as elsewhere. You touched many lives and were taken from us way too early. A very compassionate and calm man, Bob was especially kind to me during the sickness and passing of my mother last fall.
May you be in peace shipmate. Farewell
I often think back to the days when we were young, hanging out with Bobby when his dad served at Point Allerton station in Hull. I was overjoyed when I re-connected with him on Facebook after a several years absence and we reminisced about the old Village days. I'm deeply saddened and in disbelief that he is no longer with us. My thoughts and prayers go out to his immediate and extended family. Bobby was the best and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Our hearts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time.
What I am feeling now is hard to put into words. How can one do so when thay have lost someone who has been a part of their life for so long. I do know I will miss you immensely. I remember our Raquet Ball games and when I won, you would put your arm around me and with that infectious smile would say," I will beat you the next time uncle Jerry". Til we play again Bobby.Profound Condolences to the entire family.
I was so very saddened to hear of Bobby's sudden passing and extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to all family and friends – please rest in this promise: “Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4. May he rest well in the assurance that what is done on earth is richly rewarded in heaven.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this very difficult time. May Bobby rest in peace and may you find the comfort you need.

Bobby was one of the kindest human beings on earth. I had the privilege of serving with him as a First Class and later as a CWO. He loved his children more than anyone I know. My heart is deeply saddened that he was taken away from us so soon, however, he will be an excellent addition to God's angels in heaven. We will all miss you Bobby!
Our deepest condolence to the entire family. Our wishes to Bobby will always be: "Fair Weather and Following Seas." We miss you.
LT Dick Tuaño, USCG (Ret) and Paula Tuaño
RIP Bobby! Much love to the family. You were one of a kind.
Ann and Maggie
We worked with Bob at ISC Boston; he was also our neighbor in Halifax; and we sat together on the train ride home. He was a "stand up guy" and will be greatly missed.
I was just talking to Bobby last week. He sounded so happy and content. We spoke or emailed each other almost weekly. He was one of the kindest persons I ever knew. Always had a smile on his face and never a bad word to say about anyone. He cherished his family and was loved by all. I will miss you buddy.
Cousin Bobby, When I received the call that you were gone I thought it was all a dream that wasn't real! Then I started to pray and I knew that we are all part of Gods plan. We all have a mission or calling in our lives and when that mission or calling is finished in this life that we are called to the highest calling, and that is to be with our heavenly Father. Till we meet again!
Mal, you and your family are in our prayers during this difficult time. Please accept our deepest sympathy.

This is such a loss for the family, friends and acquaintances. A gentle man with a sweet smile. He was always polite and considerate of everyone. I rode with Bobbie first on the train and then on the P&B to and from Boston. He expressed delightment and love in his marriage and of his children. For all of us, his kind soul will be missed.
So very sorry for your loss. I was stationed with Bobby at both Air Station Cape Cod and Group Woods Hole and as a yeoman under his supervision I couldn't have had a better leader in my midst. He is loved. Fondest regards, YN1 Candace Wolcott, USCG, retired.
Please accept my deepest sympathies. Bobby will be greatly missed, but will forever live in our memories. Farewell SHIPMATE!
Bob, the Coast Guard lost more than a guardian, your quiet demeanor and confidence made you a class act at all levels. We are all richer for knowing you and the memories you have left us. May God grant you and your family peace.

Bobby, you were always a nephew to be proud of. Your time on this earth ended all to soon but your accomplishment while here were many. Rest in peace my good shipmate.
Uncle Don & Aunt Carol
I was stationed at Woods Hole from 1995-1999 as the Administrative Officer, where I first met Bobby. I will remember Bobby as being an excellent yeoman who was completely unflappable. He was always the "calm one" in the office and the yeoman everyone went to when they needed help. I had no doubt then that Bobby would make a fine chief and chief warrant officer, if that was his desire. I last spoke to Bobby about 6 months ago when I found out he was assigned there as the Administrative Officer. He loved his new assignment at Woods Hole, the new shipmates, and the old ones we were stationed with there, previously. He said, "Guess who is stationed here as a commander?" Shannon Rooney is an O5, "Man are we getting old, or what?" Above all, I will remember Bobby as a good friend who I kept in contact with since transferring to Hawaii in 1999. My good friends CWO4 John Smelzer, CWO4 Greg Hunton and LT Melissa Ransom each called and emailed me to tell me of Bobby's passing. Bobby has so many people that care about him. God Bless Bobby and the Buotte's. My thoughts and prayers are with them all.
Aloha my friend...
Robert L. Cooper, CWO4, USCG (Ret)
Bob, I will always remember your kind demeanor and thoughtful words - you were always a positive influence on those around you. God bless you.
I served with Bob on the Cutter Jarvis, what a wonderful friend! I will remember you always. Your family and friends are in our prayers. RDC John R. Allyn and wife Michelle.
Uncle Bobby~ you were such an amazing addition to our family. You really were one of a kind. I feel so proud to be able to consider such an amazing man my uncle. You will forever live on in our hearts and I know that you are looking down on all of us! I love you!
Bobby, I will never forget your good will, warm smile & times I spent with you as a young boy. Til we meet again.
Love, Cousin Pete
I will always remember Bobby as a kind, gentle and loving father, brother, cousin and son. He was the best of us and will be missed by many.
Cousin Bobby was more like a Big Brother to me. He walked my sister down the isle after we lost our Dad. I used to tease him constantly - but I think his liked it! I will cherish our childhood and adult memories. I will miss him dearly. He will forever be in my thoughts.
