I was thinking of your little boy this week. It's been three years since you've been gone, but the ones you love are still around and I often think of how your little boy is doing now. I never meet you nor your family. I don't live in the same state as you, just know that I often think of that boy of yours.

Our prayers are with the Stone family. I was stationed at Carwell AFB, Ft. Worth in 1970/71 and was a roommate to Richard Stone. He was from Michigan. He married his girlfrien Susie. We visited Richard and his wife Susie when his son(s) were very young. We lost contact thru the years. Richard was a Ranger fan. Whether or not this is the Richard Stone I knew, I just want this family to know that God will give them the courage and faith to continue with life. God bless all of the Stone family. My heart bleeds for you Jenny, and I cannot imagine what Cooper is feeling. I have never cried about a stranger dying I never met, until now. I don't know what to say to make you and those close to Shannon feel better, except trust God and time will heal. I live about 10 minutes from the Ballpark and am a die hard rangers fan-I know Mr. Ryan will do all he can to cushion the blow as much as possible-I will pray for you and Cooper.

To Mrs. Stone and Cooper:
I wanted to reach out to you to send a note of prayer for your family in the difficult days ahead as you try to function without your beloved husband and father. I read about Shannon's accident in our local paper, here in Eau Claire, Wisconsin where baseball is big, and I remember trying to catch a ball or two for my son. The circumstances of Shannon's death are so tragic as I read about what a wonderful person he was. With strength from God your days will become easier, and the fact of knowing that Shannon provided for many through his life and also through his death. His life will live on through the lives of those he gave so freely to. I am so sorry for your loss.
Wednesday, July 13, 2011
Thoughts and prayers of you and yours: May God Bless your days ahead and the memories that you hold, what a hero to the community more so, his son!

Although we don't even know you, our family is so heartbroken and will keep you in our prayers. To a young wife who has lost her husband, to a little boy who has lost his daddy, and to parents who have lost a child, may the Lord comfort you and heal your broken hearts. There is so much in life that we will never understand, but may you keep your faith and know that God will get you through this.

I will not ever forget the image of Cooper being hugged after this event. I hope he will always remember the great times with his dad and know that his dad's love will remain with him forever. I hope Cooper will not hate the game (baseball) because of this tragedy, but will recall it as a memorial to the bond he and his dad shared that cannot ever be broken. Many prayers for your family, Vicky Strange, Fayetteville, Arkansas

Jenny, Cooper, Al, SuZann & Chad,

While we wonder why such a tragedy would happen ~ we must trust God who holds everything in the palm of His hand. Each of you is being prayed for by baseball fans around the country of which I am one. While I am a Red Sox fan - I too love Josh Hamilton - so Cooper has a great role model to look up to in the future. Your lives will never be the same, but I know the One who controls the future and I trust He will give you His very best!

Sincerely,

To the Stone family:

I am a 39-year-old father of a 6-year-old boy, and I have been profoundly affected by your loss. It has changed my life. I see the value more than ever of treasuring every moment, because life can change in an instant.

I am truly heartbroken over this, and I don't even know you. I would do anything to give Cooper his daddy back. But since that is not possible in this world, I will be praying for him and for all of you that you somehow find strength and healing, until you one day embrace Shannon again in Heaven.

To Shannon's Wife, Son, and Parents

My heart goes out to all of you. I have watched the news regarding this horrible accident since the day reporting began. I can relate to the pain you feel, I lost my 32 year-old son in December 2010. He was a Deputy Sheriff and like Shannon had a terrible accident that resulted in his death. Also like Shannon, he had a 3 year old son that he adored, was a very honorable man and loved by many. I hope you find comfort as I did in knowing how much your husband and son were loved .

The only thing I can tell you is that it is okay to be sad, it is okay to be angry, and it's okay to seek help. My prayers are with you and maybe our precious loved ones are together in Heaven.
Tuesday, July 12, 2011
May God give you the faith to face each and everyday with renewed strength. As a husband, father and firefighter/EMT, I grieve with you during this time. May God bless the memory of Shannon Stone and the lives he touched.
Tuesday, July 12, 2011
First of all I want to offer my condolences to the entire Stone family, his fire department family and all that have been touched by this man. Second, I am a firefighter in Abilene and was very honored to be apart of the 2 crews that came to cover Brownwood so all the brother firefighters could attend the service. And last, to all the Brownwood firefighters, it is a brotherhood to be a fireman so always take care of your brothers and sisters. R.I.P. Lt. Stone.

To the Stone Family,

Very sorry about your loss. Such a tragedy. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. RIP, Shannon Stone.
Tuesday, July 12, 2011
There are few things I have heard in life that have moved me the way this event has. As a father of a young son, I know I would do anything for my child and relish the bond we have together. I can imagine Shannon Stone felt every bit as strongly about Cooper. He sounds like he was a wonderful and loving father, and in 6 years he probably provided Cooper with more love and support than most fathers could in their lifetime. My your memory last forever through your wife and son, and may they cherish and appreciate the wonderful time you all had together. My prayers are with you and your family.
Tuesday, July 12, 2011
Please know you and your family are in so many thoughts and prayers.

While I have never meet your family I am a brother fire fighter who just wants to express to your family that every one who wears a uniform is thinking of you and sending prayers in your time of tragedy. Philippians 4:6,7
Tuesday, July 12, 2011
Jenny, I do not know you, but I wanted you to know that you and your son have been in my prayers since I first heard of your loss. I, myself, am a widow of 15 years as of this August. My husband was killed accidentally also, and I had three daughters, two of whom who were still at home at the time. So, I understand some of what you are going through. I would have never made it through those horrific days if not for the relationship I have with Jesus Christ. He is my rock and my anchor, and I believe whole-heartedly that He has a special protection over widows and their children who trust him. I have seen it over and over again in my own journey. I pray that He will be all you need and more in the days ahead. I realize I am a perfect stranger, but I'm with you in spirit.
God bless you.

I will never forget how much fun you were on the summer camping trips. I ask Bruce the first time I meet Shannon "where is he from he has got a really funny twang" and then I remember how funny it was that Cooper always needed a nap but in reality it was Shannon that needed the nap. I pray that these types of memories will help you through this difficult time. Please know that you and Cooper are loved by so many people, and I wish peace for you.
Tuesday, July 12, 2011
Dear Stone Family,

I was so very sorry to have heard of this terrible tragedy. When I heard I looked up to the sky and asked God to take care of him. May God be with you all.

looking at the pictures of shannon and cooper just breaks my heart in two. i have been just sick about this since hearing about it on the news. i will never understand why bad things happen to good people and this scenario is a prime example. without knowing your family, the pictures paint a big story of who shannon was and what his son meant to him. what a tragic loss. you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I live in Ohio. When my son was six years old, I caught a foul ball at a Toledo Mud Hens game and gave it to my son who was at the game with me. We were seated next to the on deck circle, and my son yelled to the batter that he had a ball. The batter smiled at him. It was a great experience for me and my son which I will always remember. Mr. Stone was seeking a similar memorable moment for him and his son, and I am deeply saddened that it ended so tragically.

May the love of God, family and friends hold you up and help you thru these difficult days. Keep your memories close to your heart, as they will bring you comfort.

Dear Stone Family,
You do not know me but I have read about this accident and saw it on the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Stone family and everyone.

I have been so deeply saddened that a fun event for father and son turned into a tragic accident. My husband said it really saddened him that a son lost his father at a baseball game trying to make a memory for his son as he has spent many hours with our own son at baseball games. We cannot even fathom this happening, and always worried ourselves about those railings and how safe they were.

I would be HONORED to put a hardbound Storybook/scrapbook together as a gift for your family to treasure those wonderful memories with Shannon as a husband, dad, son, brother, friend, fellow fireman, neighbor, mentor, etc. Please email me at: teri@glasspublishing.org and I would be “HONORED” to do this for the Stone Family to treasure the memories forever! I help families discover, preserve and celebrate their family stories and strengthening homes and families with the heritage enriching power of storybooking.

Our heartfelt sympathy to the Stone family. May God keep you strong in this time of need~

Jenny,
We are so sorry for your loss and what you and your family are going through. We're praying for comfort and strength for you and your little boy.
Sunday, July 10, 2011
Shannon and I first met over 20 years ago in the fire academy. We were the only 2 guys wearing black bunker gear and that let to a good friendship throughout the academy. He was kind of shy back then but was still so happy-go-lucky. Later we met again at Texas Motor Speedway where we worked around one another for several years. It was sad when he left from the track but I understood that he wanted to devote more of his time to doing things with Cooper and Jenny. He has always been such a wonderful soul with a heart of gold, the kind of guy that anyone could like. I cant believe that he was taken so soon, but I like to think that he was taken early because he had done it right and that God needed another great fireman to help in his army. Well he has a great one. He will be missed but his legacy will continue in our hearts. His great big smile the world will so miss.

Sunday, July 10, 2011
Mrs. Stone,
I am so sorry for your loss and couldn't begin to imagine what you must be going through at this time. Although we have never met I felt that we had alot in common. I'm a wife of a 39 year old firefighter and we have one child. Just a month earlier we took our 9 year old daughter to her first Rangers game and the memories of her and her daddy enjoying a game of baseball will forever be etched in my mind. I know given the chance to catch a foul ball my husband would have done the same thing to make that night an even more memorable experience for her as well. This tragedy has made me slow down to appreciate, hug & kiss my 2 favorite people everyday.
You and your family will always be in my prayers. May God bless you and be with you!
Sunday, July 10, 2011
Cooper, I love you and I am praying for you!

I first met Shannon after a house fire I had responded to on the graveyard shift. It was a long ordeal, and after the fire he and I talked standing out in the street like we had known each other for 20 years. Today I heard he was the type of guy who never met a stranger, and I believe that's the honest truth. I'm lucky enough to have been in a local firefighting brotherhood, and I know how deeply this loss will affect a great number of people. Thoughts and Prayers with the Stone family. -Officer Walker Willey (Brownwood PD)

It appears he was a wonderful man and father to Cooper and it is so unfortunate that Cooper was there to witness this. May God comfort your hearts at this time of loss.
Sunday, July 10, 2011
Just took my 4 year old son to his first baseball game last week, we loved it. He did get a game ball and it made my day to see him happy.
Cooper-No that the only reason your father went for that ball was because when you love someone as much as he did you, there is nothing you wont do to see them smile. Did not no your father but can tell he was a man I would have liked, and respected. Just remember it wasnt just a ball for him, it was the smile he would have got from you! that it what every GREAT FATHER strives for, and I can tell he was one of the BEST. Hopefully one day you will understand that.
My famalies thoughts and prayers are with all of the Stone family and friends.

Dear Stone Family;
Our family was heartsick as we watched the video of the tragedy that your family has endured. Although we didn't know your family, we felt compelled to write a note when I read that Shannon's first concern after his accident was for his son's well being and not his own. We just wanted Cooper to know that his dad was a very special person who touched the lives of complete and total strangers with his overwhelming love for his son. Please know that he is a hero to one family in Florida. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Shannon's family, I was deeply touched with Shannon departure. I wonder how many lives he has saved in his 18 years journey as a firefighter. In my holy book, Quran, it is clearly stated "And whoever saves a soul, it is as if he saved all mankind" [5:32].
Rest in peace Shannon may Allah has His mercey on you and your family. Amen

To Cooper: What tough times your young mind must understand right now. Please hold on to this: Your dad's last task on this earth was an act of profound love for you. That's what good dads do from start to finish, and he ran that race very, very well. One day, you'll be the daddy he was, and he'll live on through you. Always the best for you, young man. You've got a whole fandom pulling for you.

To the family of Shannon Stone. Shannon was an outstanding example of what a father should be to his son. And as a Firefighter, from what I've been told, and from what I know about him from his younger days,he was held in the highest degree of respect from his fellow Firefighters. I know I will never forget him and although I hadn't seen him in awhile, I thought of him often. I still have the brass fire extinguisher he found at a garage sale and bought for me. I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of this fine man, father and Firefighter. I am honored to have known him. God bless you all.

I am saddened by the news of this loss to a family, especially a little boy. May God always comfort him and give him the strength he needs. Although it was a short time he had the greatest gift of all, a father who loved him and was always by his side. I am a single mom and take my son to every baseball game, little league thru HS and MLB. I pray time will help cherish those memories. God Bless your family

The son is too young to understand the "he is in peace" as he wants him back to hold again. So we hope there is somebody for him to cling to right now in a guy way. Can't replace a father but all the praying you will do won't replace a man's physical hug.

Mrs. Stone and Cooper,

My son is also a firefighter, so if there were no worse reason for my sympathies, it would be that your husband was a public servant, risking his life daily for his community. To say he will be missed by all who knew and loved him and mourned by the firefighter community/family is an understatement.

Know you are in my thoughts and prayers and my heart hurts deeply for you.

With utmost respect and sympathy,

I send my sincere condolences to Mr. Stone wife, son and the entire family he has including his firefighter family. I hope and pray that Cooper some day can really understand and will not ever keep from going to a baseball game again. Help him to remember all the good times. For his wife I know how much you must be hurting I had a nephew who passed away recently in a accident with a Semi and I see and feel the hurt of my niece and her son goes though. I know God will give the family strength and I will keep you in my prayers. My nephew was 34 so being young and loving someone so special can be hard. There is alot of community by yourside and if that does not say anything about one person I do not know what does. A hero has entered the Golden Gate and will watch over you always. My GOd Bless You always, Know that if he had a choice I am sure he would have stayed.I give Thanks to God for giving the opportunity to make sure his son was being taken care of from what I read. That is a gift and I am sure once he knew that he was able to go to that beautiful light and be your angel.

Cooper, I have 3 sons of my own. I wish I could come down there and pick you up and give you the biggest hug you ever had. I didn't know your Dad, but I KNOW that he was with you having the best time ever. All Dads dream of taking their sons to baseball games and you made his dream come true. He was thinking of you even after his accident, making sure you were ok. That's what Dad's do. He made sure that YOU were ok, and then he went on. Always remember him loving you because that's what he would want. He would not want you to be sad, but he knows you will be. Know that there are A LOT of people out here who you don't even know, that are sending good thoughts your way. You and your Mom are in our hearts, our thoughts and prayers - and our hearts are breaking along with yours. Firefighters are good people and they will take care of you and Mom. Stay strong my little friend.

I can't begin to comprehend the amount of pain and sorrow Mr. Stone's family is feeling at this time since I've been in pain all day and I never got the honor of meeting him or knowing him. What a hero you are to your family, wife, son, and community. Someday, I hope I get to shake your hand in Heaven.
