Oh Bill, I am so very sorry. I know you and Sandy were so proud of Seth yet also fearful. I remember us sitting in the breakroom talking about his deployment. If there is anything at all I can possibly do, please do not hesitate to call. I love you both and all my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Wednesday, March 10, 2010
Seth's life has ended too soon. His and his family's sacrifice is so deeply felt and this American is deeply honored to help you carry the burden of grief and loss. I pray that Seth's life will be extended through his children and that Seth's family and friends will be comforted by the task of making sure his children know and remember the great man, the great sacrifice, and loyal patriot that was their father. My deepest regards and sympathy.

Rosie, I sent you a note one day, (Friday I think), but I didn't see it listed in the Guest Book, so I am sending another one. I want you to know you are still in my prayers, and I love you and all of your family very much! I remember Seth, when he would slip into the office and jump in and scare me. I would always scream and he would just laugh and laugh. And, when he came home and back to church in that uniform I was soooo proud of him! I loved that 'little' boy and his family too!
Rosie, you are still big part of me with all the good memories of you at Calvary. I still miss you all!!

With Love, and prayers to you, Aiden, Cullen, and the little one on the way..
Bettye Shipman

Wednesday, March 03, 2010
To the Ricketts Family,
I cannot begin to imagine your profound sense of loss and pain. While I cannot imagine this pain I hope you would allow me to share in your grief. Seth was a brother to me...a brother in arms, a childhood companion, and a constant inspiration to me to test my own limits...my own concepts of duty and honor.

Seth was always one to fight the righteous fight, to defend those who could not defend themselves, and to suffer and sacrifice for those who take such things as freedom and liberty for granted.

To his children,
You have a father you can be proud of. And that is an immense thing.

To his beloved wife,
Please never hesitate to call on me should you need anything at all. My heart and prayers are with you.

To his Airborne brothers,
Keep your heads down, and come back home safe. Know always that the mission is important, although sometimes it's very hard to see.

I found this in a list of suggestions to write and it brought a lot of things home for me so I wanted to share this with this family. My heart and prayers are with you all in this VERY hard time.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
