Steve was truly a nice person. He was my supervisor at the Assessor's Office. My first job with the County. I truly enjoyed working with him and talking to him on a personal level. He was genuine and I was very blessed to have worked with him. My husband knew Steve at Aquina's High School and we are saddened by his passing. We wish his family well. Peggy & Steve Knowlton
Steve, You will truly be missed! You were one of the best (if not THE best!) supervisor over at the County. It was a pleasure working with you and knowing you :) Nikki Cook
This is strange to see the name of a friend from so long ago appear in the obits. The world is a little darker and sadder today, but the names of his Grand children cheered me up. Steve you will be missed. High school friend from the 70's.
Our deepest condolences to the Zermeno family. May your memories of Steve bring you comfort.
From the Aquinas Alumni Association
Goodbye our friend. We will truly miss you.
I knew Steve through grade school and high school. I always knew Steve to be a genuinely good person and competitive athlete. It doesn't seem that long ago that we were in high school, but we all get involved in our busy lives and before you know it, life goes by in the blink of an eye. My deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the family who mourn the loss of a good and kind-hearted man.
Wow Steve!! You are gonna be missed good buddy. Your family sent you to rest with God the way I remembered you, with class and style. I can still here your voice from time to time and it breaks my heart to know that we all lost a good friend. I am lucky to have been a part of your life. You taught me so much, especially about sports. You were "THE MAN" Steve. Syl and I will do what ever it takes to help your family deal with your loss. It's not everyday we get to have someone special in our lives like you. Syl was honored to sing for you. It was beautiful. And Ed hit a homerun with his words. Well R.I.P. my good friend and know you were loved by everyone and will be missed. Love you,
May prayers and beautiful thoughts keep your father/husband in your hearts forever. The memorial service today was very touching and a fine tribute to this outstanding individual. I only had contact with Sabino and his extended family but I know he was very proud of his son. Prayers from a distant cousin, Patsy Zermeno Chavez Collton, CA
Steve, love u and miss u. Ur family is wonderful and u will be missed dearly by everyone! May u RIP!
Steve, one of our basketball teammates at Aquinas. I can still see you dribbling the ball up court looking to drive the lane or make a no-look pass. My thoughts and prayers to your family. We will miss you zar!
Dear Steve, I thank you for the pleasure to have known you here and I wish you peace where you are. I'll always remember at Aquinas how I knew you to be such a sweet person and I'm glad to have known you. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Sincerely, Liz Langenfeld
I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Steve well but I did meet him a couple of times. He was just a good guy and do you know why I know that? It's the way you would speak of him. Never a bad word and I knew you guys had something special. Not everyone is lucky enough to have that in their lives. Know that he is at peace and you will see him again. I truly believe that. I am here for you if you need anything. Please give my best to your girls and the whole Zermeno Family.
Steve and I both shared a love of USC football as well as the same family - but I think we both liked USC more. (That's a joke he would have understood.)
I always admired my cousin because he was so cool and popular in high school. Even though his skill as a basketball coach was legendary, he was always very humble. Patty was perfect for Steve - she really "got" him and his love for her and the girls was obvious. Steve was well respected at the Assessors office because he was such a hard worker. Steve was truly one of those "good guys."
And Steve - if you are reading this, USC will be the national champions in 2014.
Sapo! I'm still in shock from the news. So many good times and fond memories. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
Steve always had a way of getting people and I will miss hearing your voice. May you rest in peace with the angels my friend and I hope we will all be together again one day.
A great loss, will miss your humor, laughter and smiles. My condolences to Patti Zermeno and family...we had some great basketball games!!!
My thoughts and prayers are with Steve's entire family. I still very much remember Steve's tenacity on the basketball court as his teammate at Aquinas High School. You will be missed my friend. Also remember Steve helping my mom out on numerous occasions through his job @ the Assessor's office.
My deepest and sincere sympathy goes out to Steve's wonderful wife, daughters, grandchildren and family. I too worked with Steve but at the Tax Collectors office. I have always thought of him as a good friend and loving family man. I will never forget Steve, especially his humor and willingness to help a friend. May he rest in peace and watch over us with a smile and a beer in his hand.
I loved you in that bow tie on your 50th birthday. What a party! Of course it was because you celebrated life more than anyone I know despite your obstacles. I admire you for your courage and unyielding desire to make life amazing. Im sorry if I never told you how grateful I was for everything you did for me. You and your family got me through a lot growing up. I'm where I am today due to a lot of the love and support you showed me. I will be forever thankful for having you in my life. When this med school thing is over, I promise I will always care for and watch over your family. Who knows maybe I'll be a rheumatologist or a transplant doctor. Love you and miss you.
I loved you in that tie on your 50th birthday! What a party! Of course it was though, you celebrated life more than anyone I ever knew despite your obstacles. I'm not sure I ever expressed my gratefulness for everything you did for me. I wish I could of. You and your family got me through a lot growing up and where I am today had a lot to do with the love and support you showed me. Once I get through this medical school thing I will forever take care and watch over your family. I promise. Who knows maybe ill be a rheumatologist or a transplant doc. Love you so very much.
It is with great sorrow that I sign this guestbook, not for Steve but for Patti, Kristy, Valerie and all who loved Steve so deeply. I know Steve is up in Heaven asking where the Athletics department is and offering his services as a Coach. Steve's positive influence, happy, confident, thoughtful personality will be missed. It is an honor to have known him and a joy to have been counted as friends of his.

I've worked under Steve for the past 6 years. He was a great person and I really enjoyed working with him. I loved his sense of humor..I got it. He was so proud of his family and just beginning to enjoy what is is to be a grandparent. My heart goes out to you, his family, I wish there were words that could take the pain away. He will be missed by all.
Dear Kristy and Jason, please know our love and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Special thoughts for your Mother and Sister, along with all the sweet innocent grandchildren that had such a brief glimse of their Grandpa. May God be with you all, may your broken heart begin the heaing process soon. Love, always in our hearts! Grandma & Lee
My prayers are with the zermeno family. I had the pleasure of working with steve at the assessor's office. That was my little buddy I am sure he will be truly missed.

What a great loss!!! I am so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I also worked with Steve at the Assessor's office and he was always funny, kind, and thoughtful. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. Rest in peace Steve.
Steve and I kind of "grew up" in the supervisory world at the San Bernardino County Assessor's Office together since the 1980's. I could always count on him to explain jokes to me....:)...His sense of humor in the office will be missed...You always knew where you stood with Steve..he was never bashful at expressing his opinions..I will miss you Steve..I will miss all your crazy antics, but will never forget you. Thanks for being my buddy all these years...My thoughts and prayers to all the Zermeno family.. .Jennifer Ruiz-co-worker at San Bernardino County Assessor's Office
When I heard that the Lord called you home Steve, I knew He must have needed a very special angel. My memories of you as a young boy and later as an adult will always be cherished. Love you Stevie - Aunt Paula
I was shocked and sorry to hear of the passing of Steve. I worked with Steve back in the days of the County Library Administration, when he started and when he left. Before I retired from the County in 2008 I found Steve's email address in the County directory and started corresponding with him. When it came time to retire, he was one of the few I had invitations sent to so we could talk over "old times" at the Library. God bless the Zermeno family in your time of his passing. Hang in there.
Very saddened to hear of Steve's passing. I've known him since the 1970's when we both worked at the SBCo Library Admin when he was a high school student & later at the Assessors Office. I'll remember his sense of humor, love of sports, his pride for his family. We had a lot of laughs! My "deepest" condolences to his family.
