I saw Stew and one of his young grandsons one day across the parking lot at HEB (too far to shout a greeting). As I observed their interaction while they loaded up the old Isuzu Trooper (couldn't miss that truck!) I thought, what a "GRAND" father that boy was blessed with! I'm proud to have served in the same Army with the General.
Thank you Gen. Meyer for taking the time to write to my son who is currently at the Naval Academy with words of encouragement and sharing your own experiences with him. We feel honored to have your written words. Rest in peace, Sir.
A true gentleman and a very honest and friendly person that was sincere in all of his actions. Harker Heights definitely benefited from his dedication and leadership in our community as well as the Central Texas area. He will be missed and It was an honor to know him and call him a friend.

Stewart brought out the best in people. His affirmation empowered me to strive to be the fine person he seemed to think I was. His friendship helped me to respond to challenges with courage. I know that I am just one of many who stand straighter when they think of him, who are inspired to do their best because of his influence. With much love to Mari and the family, Sherry Mondragon
I met GEN Meyer back in the mid 70s when I was working at the Education Center. I started out at the main center, then was transferred to the West Fort Hood center. As late as last year when I saw him at the Harker Heights post office he spoke with me. It was a privilege to have known him. Rest in peace, sir. Condolences to your family. Susanne Judd
My prayers got out to Mari and the family. I will always remember Gen. Stewart Meyer with fond regard as he was so very kind and gracious to me as well as his wife Mari when I was in St.Christopher's employment. He treated me with great respect as he did with all people. He always had a kind word and the wisdom of his advice was unmatched. I rejoice with him now as he is with Jesus whom he loved so much and I mourn with his friends and family at the loss of his daily presence. The world has lost a great man and heaven as gained another saint. God bless you Mari and all your family. Love always IN HIM, Pastor Karol L Faasse.
TO A WONDERFUL MAN THAT I HAD THE PLEASURE TO GET TO KNOW WHILE I WAS WORKING THE CHAMBER FOR 5 YRS . MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOUR FAMILY
He has been a true friend to so many. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on in the lives he's touched. He's taught me a lot over the years by his example.
It was my privilege to serve as General Meyer's aide when he was Grand Marshall of the DAV parade in Palestine, Texas.
He was a great man and a "Soldiers General" .
