To the Bardin family: I just found out that Tommy has left us and I am in shock to hear of his graduation so soon. I will always remember the Bardin kids with their blonde hair and smiles. They went with my children to the Beaufort schools and were all close friends.."Tommy, you will be missed by so many who knew you and never forgotten..know that you are loved by all of them"..My prayers go out to each member of the family and hope that you will rest in peace knowing that Tommy is with our dear Lord Jesus Christ at this time.

Angie,
We were so sad to hear about Tommy. So many of the things we do and say are Bardinisms from our times with the two of you, so long ago. Craig was happy to have made contact with Tommy again, and I am so glad they reconnected. You had the kind of guy who makes a great impression on so many people. He was such a good guy. Although I know that is a comfort to you, I also know you will miss him terribly.
With deepest sadness,
Bobbye and Craig

I have known Tommmy since Mossy Oaks Elementary School. He was always a nice, gentle, understanding person. My sympathies to you Angie, Jill and Tripp, and extended family. Tommy was an exceptional man, who will be missed by all who knew him. Tommy Bardin was a firend to all. As everyone has written there are 2 words that describe Tommy and those are SMART and FUNNY. You could never ever top Tommy in a game of wits. No matter what you said or how clever you thought you were he could come back with something that would just eliminate you and leave you speechless on the spot. All you could do at that point is cuss at himn and walk off. Tommy took me under his wing at Carolina. He worked in the Astronomy dept. teaching labs although he was a Political Science Major, that is the smart part of him. I would hang out in his office until he was done teaching. Depending on the day and time would depend on what we were going to do. From going out to eat, to playing softball or if it was a Friday night going out on the town. We had a great time and he was a true friend. I sure miss him. Whenever we would talk he would always start out asking me if I remeber when he beat me in tennis. I would always tell him I think I wiped that from my memory banks right after it happened. There will never be another Tommy Bardin. Thanks for all the great memories even losing to you in tennis. I love you Tommy!

Bardin Family,
My deepest sympathy to all of you. I had the privilege of working with Tom at DSS for several years and he was always helpful and willing to provide information necessary for me to complete projects. He always shared alternative ways to make things a lot easier. South Carolina has lost a brilliant pubic servant!

Angie,
I wanted to thank you and Tom for having our family out to the lake to visit. Tom was nice enough to provide lifetime great memories for my kids, who just loved tubing with him and using the sea doo. The bird show was also terrific. Andrea and I are praying that you and your family receive only the peace that God can provide.

My sincere and deepest sympathy to Angie Bardin for the loss of Tom. I worked with Tom years ago at Legislative Audit Council and found him to be a professional and very kind person. He will be missed. My thoughts go with his family and friends. Tom was such a likable person and I am so deeply sorry for this loss. He will be missed greatly. He was such a good example. I really admired him while I worked with him. It was my privilege to work with him. Again, my sympathy goes to his wife and children and family. God Bless you. Tom made such an impression on me when I worked with him and as I saw him involved as Director of LAC. This has been a shock. Susan Martin

Angie, I was so sorry to hear about Tom. I remember when y'all were married. You all were the best neighbors & I've always cherished the memories of those days. Gary, Libby, Charlotte, Natalie were just here for my daughter's wedding & we were talking about y'all, that we had seen Jill's picture in the paper & what a beautiful bride she was. Rene' & I were telling them how we'd seen Tom on the news in recent years. I will be praying for you & your family, Angie. In time, I'll connect with you on FB to see how you're doing. You probably don't recognize the Peggy Sessions; I'm formerly Peggy Ortiz.

August 30, 2011
I had the pleasure of working with Tom when I was director of the Department of Social Services. He was an outstanding employee, good to his friends and colleagues, and a very special person to have in the DSS family. He always was professional, very talented and always added value to discussions. I always was very proud of him and his accomplishments and DSS is better to this day because of him. I always knew his family was his number one priority, which made him even more special to us! Tom will be very much missed throughout South Carolina.

To the Bardin Family: My sincerest condolences on your recent loss. Tom was my supervisor, and mentor, when I began my professional career in 1989 at the LAC. During my tenure there, we had many great conversations about the Atlanta Braves and his native Beaufort (I had been a Marine at MCAS Beaufort prior to college). Words cannot express my profound sadness at the loss of such a decent man.
August 30, 2011
Angie,
Tom was the BEST. The years at DSS together he was always there for me. He helped me with decisions and was a true friend. I have missed seeing and talking to him since he went back to LAC, but was so proud to know him and call him friend. I knew he was always just a phone call away.
He loved you and Jill and Tripp more than anything. You guys always came first.
I was so impressed, while Jill was at college, of his daily talks to her before classes and during the day. Or when Tripp needed to know how to do anything his Dad was there to guide him. And how proud he was of you when you were named Teacher of the Year. These were just a few signs of family first.
His loss is beyond belief, but we know we will see him again. God had other plans and he is receiving his rewards in heaven.
I am praying for all of you.
With much love,
Lynn

Dear Angie,
We have never met but I knew your husband and I know his sister Sharon. Tommy was a kind friend to me at BHS and we lost touch after graduation, but I feel like I've gotten to know him because Linda Arp, the gatherer of all of us BHS folks, has spoken so highly of him. I am so sorry you have lost a husband and a father to your children. I get the impression, though his legacy is very strong and loving. I have been and will continue to pray for your and your family.

Tom was my former co-worker at the South Carolina Legislative Audit Council. He was the absolute best in the performance auditing field and as a person. He was funny and talented. He truly had the common touch. I credit him with much of what I know about auditing and his not being on this earth will impact so much. I pray for Angie, their children, his mother, and the rest of his family who he loved so much. I thank God for knowing him.
