Van will be sorely missed at the polo club. It won't be the same without him there as our #1 spectator cheering us on and then at the potlucks after practices sharing stories about he and Gordie Wood in their youth. He was a kind man and I was glad to have known him. My sincerest sympathy to his family at this time.
Dear Tari and Shari, I love you and pray for peace and grace over you and your family. Your Dad will be missed here in Texas. He has always held a special place in my heart. His kindness and encouragement over the years helped me through some times. A great Dad of two great daughters. No greater legacy than that. Wrapping you in warm hugs.
Dear Tari and Shari,,I wish I could attend the service for your Dad..but being so far away makes it difficult.. Each of his friends have their personal memories and it was a privilege to share part of his life. He was a good person and I know, a loving father to you girls and grandsons. He was a good friend.. My thoughts are with you...

Our thoughts are with you, words don't seem enough right now, but we hope you can feel the heartfelt caring and deep sympathy that are meant just for you. We both remember Van fondly from the years we went to school with him in Tenino, and through the years at our reunions.

Hello, I do remember Van with the happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days of the polo field. Sitting with him and cracking wise about his friend, Allen Amoroso, always the target of Van's sly humor and sneaky little smile as he slid the arrow home. Then the huge smile as Allen sat there trying to think up a come back. Alice McKnight
