I received a letter today notifying me that Dr. Muenzler passed away. I was stunned by this news. My mother, brother and I have been his patients since 1984. He was a wonderful doctor and man. He performed corneal transplants for my mother and brother and treated them with compassion and concern. Thank God, never had to have this surgery. He was like a member of the family as we would schedule our appts on the same day and make a fun trip of it. He will be missed. God Bless his family

I called today to change my checkup appointment and was given the news of Dr. Muenzler's passing. I want to extend my sympathy to his family at home and at the office. Dr. Muenzler did my cornea transplant about 12 years ago and over time discovered we both enjoyed riding our Harleys. He was a good man and great doctor and has left a tremendous legacy. May God's Grace surround you and keep you.
Yesterday was my 6 month check up at Dr. Muenzler's. As I was waiting, I noticed a picture of Dr. Muenzler up at the check in window. I got up to look at it, and my heart dropped. It showed the year of his birth and the year of his death. I was in tears, for I was unaware that we had lost him. I started going to Dr. Muenzler years ago for very bad "chronic" dry eye. All the other doctors I had seen, and there were many, all wanted to blame me for the problem saying i rubbed my eye too much. By the time I made my way to Dr. Muenzler my nerves were shot because of this nagging eye problem. He was so kind. He never once blamed me for having dry eye. He was the only doctor to ever help me with it. Last year when my Mother was near the end of her life, I broke down in his office. He was so kind. Told me I was like family, and he spoke to me with such compassion. I will miss him and the care he so expertly delivered. I know he has left a big hole to fill. I extend my sympathies to his wife and daughters. I know how much they must miss him.
I HAD TO ADD THIS FOR MY FATHER A LONG TIME SOONER FAN..DAD WE BEAT THE FIGHTING IRISH ND..35/17..THE LAST TIME WE WON WAS 1956,THE YEAR I WAS BORN.I KNOW YOU WOULD BE PROUD,AND WERE ON THE SIDELINES..I LOVE YOU DAD.LYNN
So sorry to hear of your passing. Bill called to make an appointment today. You have taken such good care of Bill over the last 25 + years. You always went above and beyond to give him the best care possible. You were always looking for new ways to try to save his vision you never gave up. You helped him to be able to see our son grow up. You were always caring and encouraging. We thank God that we were blessed to know you.
GOD BLESS you Stanley and the Muenzler family. You were not only my doctor but you were also a true friend. You worried about your dear mother's care and all others around you. I will miss our talks and your astuteness outlook toward life.

So sorry to hear of Dr. Muenzler's passing when I called to schedule my annual check-up yesterday. Though he did not perform any of my surgeries or cornea transplants, he and Freddie kept my sight corrected well enough to keep me functioning as a photographer ever since another specialist in 2000 told me I would likely become legally blind within a year.
There is something special about cornea transplants that I was finally able to express in a song I just finished a few weeks ago. I was planning on showing it to him on my next visit. All the sadder that I did not know he wrote poetry.
I was going to post it, but copyrighted material is not allowed here.
We would like to send our sincere sympathy in the loss of Dr. Muenzler, he will be missed deeply by all who knew him. J.B. Johnson &Family (Oklahoma City,Ok)
My mother took me to Dr. Royer when I was sixteen. It was shortly after that, that Stan became my doctor when he joined the practice. So I have known Stan for almost my entire life, about fifty years. He was a loyal friend, staunch supporter, irreplaceable ophthalmologist, and loving and stable stepfather to my daughters for eleven years. We had an enduring kinship. We shared the best of times, and the worst of times, and in the end he remained my close and caring friend. I will miss him for as long as I live. I was so glad that he was happy and peaceful the last years of his life with Nancy. He was a shining star, and deserved all good things. Donna R. Murray

Dr. Muenzler was a terrific example of the high caliber of Oklahoma character - serving his country, advancing his profession, being true to his Sooners. A bunch of red clad angels are waiting at a tailgate for you Stan -
Dr. Muenzler was a lovely and kind man. He cared for my family for several decades and three generations. The community he helped to heal will miss him. Thank you Dr. Muenzler for all of your good works. Thank you Muenzler family for sharing him with all of us.
Stan cared for our family's eyes since 1967. Always interested in the patient's personal life as well as their health, he was a friend even more than our doctor. When we saw him last, he was looking forward to his trip to Vail. May God care for him as loyally as he cared for those he met here in this world. We will miss him, greatly.
Dr. Muenzler was the only eye Dr. I ever had and he was truly a wonderful person, so kind and so caring. He will be missed my so many.

Stan was a scholar and a gentleman. He was my doctor and my friend. For years, I have driven across the state for his unique services. Without him, I would not have my vision today. Men of his high calibre are a rarity. Thank you, Stan!
He was a very special man who will be greatly missed!
My doctor for 27 years. Dr. Muenzler performed 4 out of 5 of my corneal transplants. He always was kind and considerate. I will forever be grateful to him and his staff. I will miss him...
To the Family of Dr. Muenzler: Thank you for sharing this wonderful physician with all of the people he has helped throughout his distinguished career. As one of his patients, I have been the direct recipient of his care, compassion, and skill as he restored my sight. He was truly a remarkable human being who possessed a calm and professional demeanor. All of us were in the presence of greatness and there will never be another one like him. We now must all carry on in his spirit to care for others as he did. That would be the greatest tribute to his memory. My deepest condolences to his family, staff and close friends.
I am saddened to hear about the Dr. He was a great neighbor. Kept his lawn so beautiful. My condolences to the family.
Stan was my opthomologist and a friend. Last time I was in, I told him that every morning when I wake up and see the birds outside my window, I think of him with gratitude. Because of the LASIK surgery he performed on me 14 years ago, I can now see the birds! He said it was one of the best compliments he ever got.
I will still and always be thinking of you with fondness, dear gentle man.
My Lynn, i'am so sorry for your loss. I offer my sympathy to you and to your family...Believe me, your Dad is still with you, it's just his cherished body which isn't still here. His spirit is with you, you'll feel him when your despair will diminish. I hug you the most tenderly and i love you, Lynn <3
Dr. Muenzler's genuine, kind, and sweet spirit made him a GREAT PERSON AND DOCTOR! I have sent him numerous referrals over the years, including, MY MOTHER. One of my main cherished memories of Dr. Muenzler is he taught me the meaning of "Professional Courtesy." He said, "Extending a Professional Discount to all nurses is GIVING NURSES THEIR DUE RESPECT!!"
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER DR. WILLIAM STANLEY MUENZLER RIP!
The Divine Blessings will continue to abound and surround you all!!!

My condolences to the family of Dr Muenzler. My brother, Dr Anthony Bluitt introduced me to Dr Muenzler over 30 years ago. My brother had told me he had found this great Dr to do his eye surgeries and he suggested that I go to him and I did. I was so impressed with my eye surgeries and his greatness towards mankind. My entire family went to Dr Muenzler. A wonderful Dr will be missed.

I was a patient of his as my mom was too. He performed several cornea transplants on her and did LASIK surgery for me and my sister. I saw him not to long ago for my eye checkup. He will be so deeply missed! Yes, he is gone to soon! Sending my love, thoughts, and prayers to his family and his staff at work.
I worked with Dr Muenzler as an eye bank technician for OLEB and had the honor of learning so much about cornea transplants in my time there. He was quick to quiz me on terms and always had a sly grin giving me the correct answer. My deepest sympathies to his family, staff, and patients as he will be truly missed.
I first saw Dr. Muenzler in 2007 and he was the first eye doctor to finally diagnose an eye problem I'd had for years. Furthermore he suspected I had a great deal more going on than with just my eyes and referred me to a Rheumatologist. That led to a diagnosis that answered years of medical questions. I saw Dr. Muenzler a minimum of every six months and sometimes more often than that. He was bright and always had something interesting to talk about. He remembered his patients and we were not just a number on a chart. He would even notice if you had cut or colored your hair. During my eye surgeries he and the nurse helped keep a lighthearted atmosphere so I wouldn't stress out too much. I am really going to miss him. He was a kind man and I know he must have affected a lot of people's lives throughout his career.
Rest in peace,Mr. Muenzler..I never meet you,but I know you was a wonderful person because you have a lovely daughter...LYNN
Even though I didn't know you personally, I am a friend of your daughter, Lynn, and you sounded like an amazing man. May you rest in peace. <3

I am an Oklahoma Lion, and had the privilege to work with Dr. Muenzler on the executive board for the Oklahoma Lions Eye Bank. His devotion and dedication to his patients and his profession will be unmatched. We can only hope he knew our gratitude for his leadership and that it would come close in magnitude to the legacy he built restoring sight and hope to those that he cared for. He will be missed by all that knew him. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with your family.
