To Mike's family. Mike was my boss in Vietnam, 1969-70, and has been a dear friend ever since. He was a wonderful man, always a gentleman, and a great soldier-a battlefield hero in WW II and Korea. He was one of a kind. You have my heartfelt sympathy and love for the loss of your father, brother, family member. Ben and Carol
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
May you feel God's comfort and loving arms around you, Chanel and family

Heartfelt sympathy for the family of Col Thiel. I pray that God will continue to strengthen the family in their time of loss. It was with great pleasure to have know the Col since 1987 at Fort McClellen.
May God continue to shine a LIGHT upon and guide your path.
As I write this, COL Thiel's funeral is being conducted at Fort Benning. I regret that I
cannot be there, but he and his family are in my prayers. The COL has always been the COL to me. I was his adjutant for the 2nd Student Battalion at Fort Benning from November 1967 to July 1968. To say the least, being the new lieutenant working directly with the COL, was a defining experience for me. Prior to my leaving Fort Benning he wrote a letter to my parents(which I stil have) that was most reassuring to them. I was going to be an Infantry Platoon Leader in Viet Nam with the "Big Red One".
The COL was always a professional(even on the golf course), courteous and caring person. COL Thiel was a family man having eight children. How he loved "Mama". He was totally devoted to his family. Once when we stopped by Columbus to see him, he asked my wife, Janet,"Did I raise him up right for you, Mrs".
I wll never forget the COL and what he has meant to me over the years. We will miss him, but we know that he is wth our Lord and reunited with "Mama".
Col. Thiel and my father served together in Korea in LOVE Company. I first met him at a company reunion. What a wonderful and gentle man! So gracious! So humble! My father always spoke so highly of his time serving with Col. Thiel. Blessings to this family!
I will miss u Col thiel .
Thinking of you, Jean and your family, at this time of sorrow. Many prayers for all of you.
Sending out prayers and our deepest sympathy to our cousins in the loss of their father and grandfather. Uncle Mike will be remembered not only for his stellar military career but also for his sense of humor which he loved to share with family and friends. Life couldn't get any better than when Uncle Mike and all his brothers and sister were together at family gatherings and sharing their stories of growing up. We are blessed to have had the opportunity to listen to his stories of historical events throughout his military career. He had a lot of life experiences to share with us all. We love you Uncle Mike and will miss you. Rest in Peace~~Susan & Joe Parley and family
You are all in our thoughts and prayers, love you
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
We send our sympathies to Uncle Mike's family. I met Uncle Mike and Aunt Delores only twice in my life. I am Meta Malueg Fox's (Dolores' sister) granddaughter Heidi, Jim and Esther Fox's third child. I was a little girl visiting Grandpa and Grandma Fox in Plymouth and Uncle Mike and Aunt Dolores were visiting too. Such very nice people and I sure wish I would have been of an age to appreciate more the importance of family and also all of his accomplishments and honors. But God blessed me with seeing Uncle Mike again at my parent's 50th wedding anniversary four years ago. I feel so lucky to have had the chance, as an adult, to chat briefly with him and to introduce him to my children. God's richest blessings to his family and friends. Great-niece Heidi (Fox) Ehrhardt, Dave, Alli and Jordan (Rogue River, OR)
Even though we Thiel's are scattered through out the world we all send love and prayers to all of you in the passing of Uncle Mike. Many good memories to keep our family together in spirit!
As we count our blessings this Thanksgiving, we think of the wonderful memories of family get togethers. We will always cherish the memories of Uncle Mike. He will be missed! May God bless his family today with comfort, peace, and strength. Thinking of all of you from Wisconsin! Hugs and Prayers.
We'll always miss his hug and handshake. What memories we have of Uncle Mike talking to our kids around the breakfast table about his experiences. They hung on his every word.
